How do you modify your car with body kits? I know you have to buy the kit, but do they like ship it to you and you have to assemble it or do they ship to a company which will install it for you which would cost more? Thanks

Besides "M5" front/rear body kits, can one buy a complete modified kit made for an E39 '03 540i BMW? Although the "BMW M5" front and rears are great... Most of the body kits I find the most interesting, creative, and stylish are for other cars. In addition, I think the most eye catching kit on a Bimmer (if one chooses the body kit route) would be a body kit that is completely different from the typical M5 norm). Also with me having said that, I posted a question about body kit websites yesterday and unfortunately (although the information was much appreciated : ) .. unfortunately all of the front, rear, and side skirts were identical. Meaning ALL of the kits I found were modelled after the M5 with almost no differences. Is these the only changes I can make? (as far as body kits that only look like M5's). Mustang Body Kit? This is a trial balloon question for Mustang owners (fans). I fabricate external vehicle body modification panels as a hobby and was wondering how a 'kit' to modify Mustang '95 - 98 would be recieved. The kit would be a bonded & bolt-on, external panel system that would change the look of a stocker to resemble the 1968 Shelby 500 Mustangs. This would NOT be like the rice-burner kits that are so over-the-top they look silly. The completed vehicle would be equipped with aero headlamps, raised and scooped hood, side ducts and possibly full width tail lamp panel. The plan is to not completely change the original look of the car, rather, to make subtle, muscular and tasteful modifications. Any feedback? Thanks.

professional about Body Kits? I put my kit on my car, yes i had to modified it a little bit to fit, but where the kit meets the body of the car is not a tight seam, its a good sized gap that i would like to close up. I was told to use Gorilla Glue, but i really dont think that would work. Or real tight brackets, but that would be alot of tension on the kit. Any pointers.

Traveling out of state with a modified vehicle (tint, body kit, etc)? So I'm from Florida where we are allowed to have such things as tinted windows, removed catalytic converters, etc and my car is titled and registered here. I have my license and insurance also from the state of Florida. I recently traveled out of state and was pulled over and harassed by a town police officer in PA. He ended up not citing me for anything involving the car but for disorderly conduct because I refused to speak with him past a certain point. He used my windows as the windows as a reason to pull me over and I drove away but does any one know legally where it says that if you are traveling somewhere what your protection is for this type of thing? I have spoken with the state police of Florida who have said that its where the vehicle is registered not driven that is the law to go by. I was wondering if anybody knew where to look for it on paper since the officer I spoke to didn't have any reference to a specific law. All help is greatly appreciated. Also the reason I was in the state was to speak with representatives of a college I will be attending. I will continue to have my current legal residence in Florida while I attend school in the area. when i enter a particular part in NFS Undercover, it freezes! how can i stop it? when i enter the visuals mode when customizing cars, i go to body kits, then choose any kind of body kit. when i move the slider to any direction (to modify the body kit parts), it freezes there, just right there!!! i had to restart my computer...whats wrong?! Should i even bother to modify my 1994 toyota corolla dx??? I will be getting my drivers lisense soon so my parents are going to give it to me. It is still in great running condition and has very little body damage. It only has 60000 miles on it. If i do plan on modifying it i plan to -paint it a new color -get it a new body kit -fix some small stuff that are wrong with the car (windows, filter) -install HID lights Is it really worth it??

I really like the look of this car, and I was wondering if that can look similar.? Best/Fastest Car for around 20k.? Im going to get a new car soon. I have around 20k to spend on it. I was thinking of going with a honda civic si. But the civic si is rather slow doing 0-60 in about 6.7. I'm not sure if i can put a turbo on it. I prefer sports coupes with fast 0-60 times between 5-6 seconds. Essentially as fast as possible with around 20 grand. I can buy it used or new. I prefer Japanese cars because of their reliability. building a 1967 mustang from scratch (well...a body shell) costs involved? I am looking to purchase a 1967 mustang body shell, it costs about $9000. what i would like to do with this car, is add a relatively traditional interior, nothing too "custom", i'd like the engine to be a 351 windsor, 4 wheel disk brakes, and keep most of the other parts original. suspension set up, etc. this car is going to be a daily driver, and will not be taken to race. perhaps a show or 2, but never racing or museum quality, so not all the parts need to be the best money can buy. can anyone give me an approximate estimate as to the total cost of the finished product? also, would it be wise/more cost efficient to have all the components installed by a regular mechanic, and then have it taken to a resto shop to have all components tuned, painted, etc. or just have it all done at the resto shop? 1 more thing, i wouldn't mind sticking a modified "Eleanor" body kit on it, does anyone know how much one of those kits goes for? EDIT: and no it won't be cheaper to buy something already completed, as most of the ones people have already completed do not have the engine i want, nor the 4 wheel disk brake, so if i wanted to convert this it would cost even more. and most of the vehicles already completed have been restored in a dodgy manner, and if you want a full rotisserie restored car you gotta pay big bucks. overall for my interests, from scratch is the only way to go...plus its more personal. i've been waiting my whole life for this car. the shell is in absolute mint. i personally know the guy who did the conversion. I was at his house most of the days he was doing the sandblasting and panel replacement. this thing is in absolutely pristine condition. he wanted to sell it over ebay for $15000, but since i'm a friend he's giving me a deal. its hard to pass up. and besides, a shell is the way to go, theres no way you could restore a "barn find" mustang body for that price, and a shell has no rust and no crash damage. EDIT: i forgot to mention, in order to keep reliability at a good high standard, i have considered putting a fuel injected engine in, such as the supercharged 5.4 from the Lightning, how much should this change the price? I've gotten so many different quotes on 351's that im not really sure of their average price. EDIT: (god i wish they'd just let askers reply to the answers on this site) yes it is a fastback shell, but the eleanor thing is just an idea, id install that myself, no need to take that to the shop. need opinions on modifying a car..? Hello i am looking to get into tuning cars, and i have no real experience or knowledge of the subject, i am a noob. I would like some advice on good cars, and what is good for a beginner to the hobby. Insurance for modified cars? I recently renewed my car insurance in January. I wanted to get a quote as I want to mod my car, but had to put it off for another year as the insurance is just ludicrously expensive, and I ended up insuring with Elephhant (standard) I have a 1.6 Honda Civic as companies such as Livingston's Warman, Sky Insurance and Adrian Flux were quoting me in excess of £1200. I have two years no claims bonus and am 27. My (standard) quote with elephant cost me £450 but only with my mum as a second driver. Are there any companies out there who cater for modified car owners, and live int he real world. I am not looking to add any wild body kits, just simple mods like wheels, suspension,brakes, exhaust etc.

Honda Civic MX Fuel Consumption? Hi Guys I need some help here, I bought myself a Honda Civic MX 92. this is actualy a Dual Carb. and I modified this car with a straight through 2inch pipe, body kit, lowered head and a ait filter. now my problem is with the fuel prices going high I find it difficult to run this car so I need to make it more fuel efficient. so any of you out there have any idea of helping me out ? oh and I think i havent changed the petrol filter for a while

First car questions? Ok... im 15, a little too young for a first car but i might as well plan ahead So, the basics, i want something sporty (yes i am aware of insurance costs for teens driving sports cars) favorably imported (japanese or euro) cheap enough to be a first car, not too fancy but can be fast if you fix it up right. I dont really want to be one of those people with a crappy civic that has a brand new body kit or any ricer for that matter. As much as i would like to own either a skyline (illegal unless modified for US standards)rx7 (hard to find and maybe a bit pricey) supra (also pricey) and nsx (just plain damn expensive), none of those are even close to my price range and time. Something that is fairly decent looking and doesnt get laughed at when it passes by. It doesnt have to be a total chick magnet but i would like it so seem nice with the ladies. Do dealer car upgrades add to trade-in value? Hi there, i bought a 2006 civic si coupe back in 2006 when they were rare and hard to find, at the time the only one i could find had a bunch of dealer upgrades that pushed the cost from 20,800 to almost 25,000 all of the upgrades are honda factory performance parts such as the exhaust, suspension, body kits and wheels nothing has been modified outside of warranty. I notice when i go to KBB.com and look up my resale value none of those options appear on the list. So does that mean they're not going to give me anything for the options? Hi, i guess i didnt mention that the parts are all honda factory performance parts. someone indicated that 'non manufacturer' parts are not worth anything, they're all manufacturer parts.

1989 Geo Spectrum Body Kit? I build cars. Usually older sports cars, Right now I have a 1978 Trans Am, and a 1984 Pontiac Fiero. Today, I am thinking of a new sort of project. I found a 1989 Geo Spectrum , with a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder, and a 5 speed, 100,000 miles and new clutch, approximately 38 - 40 mpg. I WANT 38-40 MPG, but i dont want a geo spectrum, or a brand new car, so i looked for a body kit, of course it doesnt exist. Major Problems: 1) Back bumper is dented and falling off in one corner, on the other corner it's cracked. 2) Front bumper has a crack where it connects to the main body of the car, but appears much more stable than the back Minor problems: 1) No radio (it's just been pulled out of the dash) 2) Very VERY dirty 3) I haven't even looked under the hood yet. This is a very good game idea.....? Game developers are making a lot of street racing games, but every time, their games do not satisfy everyone... So I have a very good idea. We should make a game that has every single car in the world or almost all the cars in the world. Like Gran Turismo 4 and also include all the famous car modifying brands in the world, so you can modify your car like in Need for speed Underground 2, but with genuine body kits and parts. So the end result is Gran Turismo 4 plus Need for Speed Underground 2 fused together. Well I have not tried Pro Street yet so i do not know if the moding system in that game is good or not... So anyway, who thinks my idea of this game is good??? (reason why i picked GT4 and NFSU2 is because GT4 has over 700 cars and NFSU2 has a very advanced moding system)

Need help with EREBUNI Front End Replacement Bumper? I have a problem, I ordered a replacement bumper for my 2003 mazda 6 i, and it came directly from EREBUNI which does alot of ground effects kits, They informed that my car will have to be modified, I was okay with that, but didnt realize that the body shop told me that my Reinforcement bar that goes across the front of the car needs to be removed or modified. My question is should I do this,Is it okay to modify the reinforcement bar or not, I heard two different stories but Im not really sure, so the front bumper is just sitting at the body shop waiting to be put on but I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. Modifying a Honda Civic? Why do young kids feel the need to over modify a Honda Civic? They do realize they are disposable cars, right? I mean they originally cost about $12,000, so when these kids buy them used with 150,000 miles on them for $2000 and then sink about $5000 into them between rims, paint, mufflers and body & suspension kits. Do they know how ridiculous they look driving in them? They look like a little kid driving a go cart in the street all done up so that people will look at how stupid they are. Why not buy a real car that is 90% of the way to being fully moded, like a Mustag or Camaro, with a REAL engine in it and original sold as a sports car and not as a secretaries car. Add a nice exhaust on a Mustang and you have one of the nicest sounding cars on the road with true acceleration. Not some little lawnmower that sounds like it is farting and going no where too fast.

Replicating Concept Cars? Ever since I laid eyes on the 2004 concept-E car by Mitsubishi it has made me shun other cars immediately.
