Where do car insurance companies get your driving record in CA? I hit a guys bumper while driving a company car a couple of years ago and I thought he filed a claim but the company took care of it and I never heard about it again. I'm getting car insurance and I pulled my driving record from the DMV and all I have is a seatbelt violation but no accidents. Is there another database somewhere that insurance companies will check or is it just your DMV record? Maybe this all got settled without insurance intervention and I dont' want to pay higher fees if its not necessary. Am I in the clear?

Would it save money to divide family members onto two different car insurance companies instead of just one? We are trying to reduce our monthly car insurance payment. Why are there so few car insurance companies in Massachusetts? Allstate, Statefarm, and independant all don't offer car insurance in Massachusetts. Does someone know why this is?

Do car insurance companies check your credit? I want to purchase a house but I don't want my credit being touched while looking for insurance for my vehicle. Will an insurance company touch my credit?

How long does it take for car insurance companies to settle? I had an accident in august 2006. a lady crossed the center line and hit me my insurance company would not even start the work on my car w/o my deductible. Now i'm trying to go through hers and i'm getting the run around, I have been quoted 3 different prices from 3 different people at the company. Can you buy car insurance the very moment you buy a car? Do insurance companies work that quickly? Can I phone an insurance company the instant I buy a car and say, "Hey, I just bought a car. Why do car insurance companies have such huge differences in premiums? We have 3 vehicles and 4 drivers. All drivers have clean driving records. 2 of the vehicles have full coverage and the other has liability. Allstate is charging us $1300.00 for 6 months. I have been shopping around and independant would only charge $550.00 for 6 months for the same coverages. I have other quotes from other companies that are approximately $700.00 for 6 months. Farmer's Insurance is the most not cheap. They want $1500.00 for 6 months. Why is there such a difference in premiums?
