Where is a good place to get classic car insurance that will let me commute - not only use the car for shows? Most insurance that I'm looking into for classic cars are not willing to insure your car if you commute to work and school. They only want to insure cars that are used in shows, parades, etc. I will not drive my car every single day to work...maybe a few times during the week. I bought the car to enjoy it, not let it sit in the garage!
Does any insurance company offer insurance for a classic/antique car that is not parked in a garage? I'm looking to insure an old Ford pickup that I just restored. I don't plan on parking it in the garage every night and therefor wanted to find a classic car insurance policy that doesn't require a locked garage storage. The truck will only be used one or twice a week for pleasure so I don't want to get a typical insurance policy if I can get a classic policy for much less. I tried Hagerty and JC Taylor but have had no luck. Thanks

So im after insurance for less than £1000 has anyone manged it for a classic car? and where? The RAC quoted 1,100 and then went to ask about it and then they refused had several quote for a 1.6L beetle (due to age and slowness) of 1,400 but would like under a 1000 geico is USA i think.. :-( sorry should of said UK based Hi thanks for the directline idea sadly they wont insur any car thats older than about 1990 ish.. :-( And dam americans! lol im so gelious of you !
Classic car Insurance questions? I have a '65 corvair 4 door hardtop. 110 hp with no seatbelts. My grandfather never thought they were important so did not order them, when he bought it new in '65. Well, i have the car now and got a quote from grundy worldwide and surprisingly it was cheap and i can drive the car any number of miles i want. i'm 16 and can't afford my insurance for my other car. So should i wait for the winter is over and then drive the corvair through the spring , summer and fall? Then when winter comes around put insurance on my other car?
Where can I find classic car insurance for a 17 year old? Hey guys I've recently received a classic 1992 Mazda Miata from my dad, which has been a treasured possession of our family for a number of years. I myself am now a member of the owners club and take great care of the car, but am obviously unable to drive it without insurance. While insuring the car with a normal provider would be far too expensive for me (at 17 years), classic car insurance is not only cheaper but fits my needs far better. I was wondering if anyone knows of a classic car insurer who would be willing to insure me, taking into account my situation? Thanks, Laurence
How much is classic car insurance in Ontario? Hi, I'm looking at making a car purchase for the summer. I'm looking at a couple cars, including a '72 Dodge Dart and a '69 (?) Chevy Nova. I like both because they are, a) under $2000 dollars, b) are both in need of some TLC, and c) I've heard that classic car insurance CAN be cheaper than regular insurance. I'm 20 with a perfect driving record and a full G-license, but I know that doesn't usually matter to insurance companies. Any advice? I'd be buying for a daily driver, so is it even worth the effort despite the serious increase in cool-factor? I guess I should clarify my question; I'm wondering about 'insurance for a classic (ie., old) car" as opposed to 'classic car insurance'. I only ask because most online insurance quotes won't give you any quote for a car older than 1986, claiming it needs to be appraised in person by the insurer to evaluate it's worth. But a ballpark guess is really all I'm after. This isn't going to be a parade thing; it's going to be something to get from point A to B. Also, that's Ontario, Canada for the link to the AMERICAN insurance website, but thanks...
Is classic car insurance cheaper? thinking about buying 1967 Camaro and was wondering if it was my primary vehicle would the car ins. be cheaper? Anyone know?

question on best company for classic/historic car insurance? Our family has had State Farm for 70 years now, several generations, and in the last 10 years or so we have been progressively more & more disappointed in their "caring" and customer service. Maybe its just the 'assistants' that my local SF agent (who never talks to his clients any more) use, they both seem to have just horrible attitutudes, sarcastic, and act like you are a complete PITA every time you call. I even have an email from his main assistant that I asked her to forward to the actual agent because I was told he was the only one that could answer my question, and just today I was SHOCKED when I re-read the email, and saw in the "forward" of my email when his assistant sent it on to the actual SF agent, She said "This guy will just not give up, he keeps haunting me about this issue!" I couldn't freaking believe it. I was going to forward the email to SF headquarters in Bloomington IL, but then as I read more & more about state farm I saw they are completely independent agents in each office, and have literally NO ONE who is their boss or who can reprimand or correct them. This is unbelievable. If I treated my customers at my work place & gave them the rotten attitude treatment we get from our SF office here, I guarantee you I would lose my job. No one is in charge at state farm obviously. Back to my question - I recently bought a classic car I have been looking for a long time - getting it next week - it is 25 yrs old, all original & in perfect shape. My state (Maryland) lets me register the car as "Historic" if it is 20 yrs old or more. I plan to do this. I contacted my wonderful state farm office today, to get a quote on a new policy/binder for this collectors car. They apparently don't like insuring a vehicle as Historic, maybe the policy is too cheap & they do not make any money off it. The 'assistant' said the best they can do, even if I REGISTER this vehicle in Maryland as Historic & get an Historic tag, which I will do, she said the best she can do is insure it as "part time, occasional pleasure use, under 7500 miles a year". Which of course is NOT an historic policy. You can get that on ANY extra car you have in your household even if it is a 2011 model !! She did say (and I understand this being required) that "in order to have is classified as Antique/Classic/Historic, you have to have an appraisal done on the vehicle as if it just came off the show room floor -then the premiums would be much lower if you had full coverage on it, as historic/classic". So here we stand. Can someone out there please help me understand - am I being taken for a ride by my State Farm office? Should I shop around for insurance companies that just specialize in Classic/Historic auto insurance? If so can anyone recommend the best companies that specialize in reasonable insurance for classic/historic vehicles? Thanks for your help. .

Is there any classic car insurance company serving NJ that caters to teen drivers (I'm 18)? I'm planning on buying a 76 Superior Cadillac Ambulance to make my daily driver, as well as a fun project. I need to find an insurance company that will insure it as a classic car under my name (I'm 18). Most insurers, such as Hagerty and JC require any drivers be 25 or over. From Progressive, I would pay about $2k a year for just liability. My parents have New Jersey Manufacturers, the cheapest credible insurance in new jersey. I could get a policy with them. I pay about $1000 a year in liability for my 95 volvo turbo. I'm just trying to figure out if there'd be a difference in price between that and this ambulance.
When someone says that they left a classic car parked outside, are they suspected of insurance fraud? I thought that classic cars are usually garaged. See question at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ao9L6_uBj7V3DRnKoq9ifmLH5HNG;_ylv=3?qid=20100220190005AAiYOcH and answer this question: If you were the insurance company, would you believe that person?
How could car insurance cost more a month than the value of the car? Yes I'm under 21, No I don't have a single ticket , or driving violation . Car Insurance for the newly retired. Do insurance companies take account of drivers of company cars ? I have been driving for about 44 years and have had a company car for the last 20 or so. Classic car insurance, 25y/o female, London? Hi, Recently been looking at buying a car such as this one: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C139860/# I don't want to ring insurance companies just yet as I'm not sure I'll be able to buy the car at this stage anyway and I don't want to be hassled by them! Have checked online but generally they don't recognise the no. plate/make/model etc. So I just wanted to know if anyone had a rough idea of how much I'd be looking at for insurance. As I said, I'm 25, living in Greater London, (have done since birth), still living at my parents' place; working full time as a teacher. I've held a full UK licence for 3 years although I've not owned a car before, nor have I been named on any insurance policy before. I have no convictions of any kind. Mileage would be relatively low. All the details for the car are in the link - I'm unlikely to buy this particular car, but this is the make, model etc I'm after. Thanks! - Obviously it would be a car originally registered in USA.

What is the cheapest classic car insurance company? I have a 1973 Mustang, and the classic car insurance I have looked at, Hagerty etc, force you to have options like 10 mile road side assistance, spare part coverage. I don't really need any of that, the car's worth only $3500, and is twice a month only in the summer.

MGB GT Classic Car Insurance? I have heard, and read, of 17 year olds boys getting insured on MGB GTs as their first car at 17, even at a reasonable cost in some cases. I assume this is due to the fact they cannot be considered the "average" boy racer car. I would like to ask if anyone out there has got insured on an MGB GT as their first car, and if possible what sort of figure you would be looking at. I would certainly consider the "pass plus" and the car can be garaged. It may also be important for be to share the fact that I am asking this in relation to insurance within the UK. Any recommendations of particular insurance companies would be most helpful. Thanks in advance

However, no one will insure it without me having preexisting insurance on a daily driver. I don't own any other cars. They want 4000.00 for 6 months if i register it as a daily driver. I can't afford that.

Just about to start to learn how to drive and I have my 1984 mini raring to go :P I know that if you go through a classic car insurance you can get silly cheap prices.. for example ready for when I get a full license.. Where can I find "classic car insurance" for someone who is 19? I'm turning 19 this summer. I'm joining the Air Force and the car I'm looking to buy is a 1972 Dodge Challenger. All of the insurance companies I find only insure people who are at least 25 and very few at the age of 21. I have had my license for more than a year and no traffic or law violations.

Pay as you drive car insurance? What is peoples opinions on this, some like the idea some dislike the thought of being tracked everywhere. Have a read of this first, it give you more info on it ; http://www.carbasics.co.uk/pay_as_you_drive_car_insurance.htm I am thinking about it for a second / classic car for myself.
Classic car qualifying age? UK? i have a 1987 volvo 740GL 2.3L estate and am currently trawling insurance web sites as my insurance is due next month. A few companies have given me quotes for Classic Car insurance, but i did'nt think my car was old enough for insurance of that criteria. At what age does the DVLA regard a car as "Classic"?
Car insurance, they didn't take payment, was I insured? I have a classic car insurance policy with two cars on it, the policy started on one car but I later added a second. I have just taken the second car off the policy but it turns out the insurance company never took the payment for it to be added due to an error on their behalf, they did sent me the insurance certificate etc. My question is... Had I been in an accident in the second car would I still have been insured? or would they have tried to get out of paying the claim ? Also because they only noticed the error when I called to cancel the second car they want me to pay them for the time the car was "covered". I don't want to pay if I wasn't insured over the period of time they want me to pay for. Thanks in advance, Simon
whats the best insurance for a classic car that will be driven like any other car.? and yes.. it is reliabe and fuel efficient... with only one claim.. no tickets or accidents at fault.
I have a 1992 Ford Probe LX. Will it become a classic car in 10-20 years? I love the design of this car and am the first owner. However, I have already replaced the engine twice and afraid that keeping it will only cost me more money including insurance. If someone (experts, car enthusiats, classic car owners, etc.)can logically convince me that it will become a classic then I'll keep it. Otherwise, I'll sell it.
Car insurance - UK answers only please? I'm 23 and want to do the impossible, and drive a powerful car yet avoid paying thousands a year in insurance. Can I save much by driving a classic car (with road tax exempt status) - e.g. a 1990 Jaguar XJS 5.3 litre V12 my father owns? Or how about a 1994 Saab 900 SE 2 litre V4 (non-classic car)? Can I save money by being a named driver on my father's insurance? Or should I just walk more?
Would it be a bad idea to get a classic car (60s-70s) as my first? I'd figure it won't cost as much to get a used classic car, especially one that's beat up a bit. That would give me time to work on the car myself, gain some experience along the way, and customize it to my own wants. However, thinking about this makes me feel worried that it's not a safe idea, due to the lack of safety features back then. I'd also have to learn on a manual, which I have no experience on. Lastly, how would insurance be? It's just an idea I haven't put too much thought into, so if you all agree it's a bad idea, I wouldn't complain. I was thinking of a 1970 Pontiac Trans Am. Is that a good idea? The only problem is I have no idea how to really work on cars. I don't want to mess with the mechanical stuff, but I think I might be able to change the seats or something.
How can a 17yearold get insured on a classic car? I'm a 17 year old driver in staffordshire, i'm looking to purchase either a triumph gt6 or a triumph spitfire, however the insurance quotes im getting (even with my dad as the main driver) are over the value of the car! (approx £3500). does anyone know any specialist companies i could contact? thank you in advance
What are the advantages and disavantages of insuring a classic car with a standard carrier such as State Farm? I have a 1962 Mustang that I don't typically drive. I would like to purchase insurance; however, I have been told that I should shop around from my exisitng standard carrier. I have heard from friends that I can get a much lower premium with a "specialty carrier". Any thoughts?
Insurence for a Classic car? My dads got a 69 camaro convertible....he is most likely giving me. Its in good shape n all but i was wondering im 19 can i even get classic insurance or insurance at all for this thing?
Classic / antique auto insurance in ny cheap? Im looking to get cheap classic auto insurance. for a car thats more than 25 years old. Its going to be a show car, and rarely be driven. Liability only. I live in NY, so company must be available in NY, and be cheap. Thanks.
Car accident and insurance fraud? My son was in a car accident. Thank heavens he was fine. However, he has a nice classic car that he and his father were trying to fix up. The other kids insurance company gave us a check to get the car fixed but when we took it to get fixed we found some frame damage. Because of this he is considering parking the classic car - working on fixing it as he gets the money and taking the insurance money to get a new - used daily driver. My husband is concerned that this may be considered insurance fraud. I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. our concern about going back to them is that they may total the car, then we'll have an R title and we don't want that...
Rover Mini Insurance? My brothers 17 and has just got a 1992 Rover Mini 1.3 and id like some recommendations on either specialist mini insurance or classic car insurance that would insure a 17 year old. Any help would be great , Thankyou.
****Insurance Finding HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!***? HI does anyone know where I can get cheap classic car insurance for an austin pick up ? thanks from the uk
Mint 89 deVille insurance? Ok, I had collision on the 89 Sedan deVille. The car is in beautiful shape- not a scratch on her, no sign of rust, engine is in perfect order (i've been gradually doing upgrades on things...hoses, fuel pump etc.....) People just oogle the thing when they see it, and their jaws drop when I tell them she just hit 122,000 miles. Still a pup! However, in a private resort, on Christmas Eve night, while driving SLOW, I couldn't make a turn on a very slick hill/turn and she just slid into a guard rail. According to the initial assement (crooks they are) she was a total loss (2400 in repairs, Blue Book is at about 2500) She needs a new bumper, headlight, side light and the parts that go along with that. So really just a cosmetic problem. Is there any insurance for this age of vehicle that is in supreme shape? I know there is "classic" car insurance, but she may be too young for that... but it's a classic anyhow and I'd like to keep her protected. Do I have any further options? Thanks much!!
If a group of car enthusiasts want to form a "Club" is a Constitution required? Are Clubs registered somewhere This refers to a currently informal 'Club' made up of classic car enthusiasts and the question has arrisen due to some 'members' who think we need to have public liability insurance when cars are displayed at shows or rallies. At present we have no club constitution but have volunteer commitee members and a subscription to cover incidental costs.
1988 Iroc Camaro classic insurance for an 18 y.o.? I priced the car on my own policy as a daily driver car, it's 140 a month. My dad pays 50 bucks a year for his 67 camaro so i might pay about 100 or 150 a year for mine on classic insurance. My question is...are there companies you know of that give classic auto insurance on 20 year old cars for drivers with only 2 years drving exp or are only 18? alot of campanies require the car to be 25 yrs or the driver to be 20. Any companies you know that give classic to 18 year olds? well its a mint iroc, i have a daily driver and it is a show car, not just older. only 34000 miles on it, got it from the original owner, worth 9000, i dont want just regular liability do i? i only drive it maybe 2k miles a year
Insurance totaled car - I can't get reimbursed for smog check? This is in California. They are reimbursing tax, license, etc. They have come up with the final figures (I submitted comps). The accident was not my fault (I was sitting still at the time waiting on a light) and I feel I should be reimbursed for all my losses. The smog cost was $75 only one month before the loss and its not like I had any choice. When you sell a car, the fact that it passed smog is a selling point. Insur says NO, it does not add value. So I am out my money for that too along with the sting of losing my classic car I babied for 20 years? Do I have any recourse in getting the $$ from the at-fault party? BTW, this is under the new smog test law which took effect in December 97. It adds on another test at $20 more than the old test.
Should I get antique tags for my vintage Volkswagens? Or should I stick with normal registration? I'm 25yrs old and I have two classic cars: a 1973 VW Beetle and a 1976 VW Campmobile(aka "hippie van"). Both of them were taken off the road for about a year but now that summer's approaching, I'm getting them reinsured and reregistered. A lot of people keep telling me to get antique car tags, because then I won't have to put up with the hassle of paying for inspection each year and other fees. I've also heard that classic car insurance is very cheap -- only a few hundred a year for full(liability, comprehensive, collision) coverage. Last year, I had my cars on a regular insurance policy and I paid $12/mo for the Campmobile and $36/mo for the Beetle(The campmobile was cheaper because it qualified for the multicar discount). This was for state min coverage--liability only. Do you think classic car insurance would save me much money? Also--how hard is it to get approved for classic tags, and how long does it typically take? I understand I need to send in pictures. Advice? Richard, thanks for your feedback. However, do you know how much they'd cost or how long it takes to receive them after applying? I live in Pennsylvania(Bucks County) by the way. I'm still planning to keep my daily driver(Mustang). Plus I normally use mass transit to get to work or any other events downtown in the city. I'd be driving my VWs very minimally, mostly just for weekend pleasure rides or showing off to friends. So any restrictions on the antique cars' mileage or days is A-okay with me.
Any Insurance Agents/Adjusters out there? I am a lady in my 60's. I am a car person, having Classic Shows Cars for years. So...I take great care of all my cars. They are in A1 condition. I have an '85 Buick Regal that I have been paying full coverage insurance on for 22 yrs. The car is immaculate. Blue book at this point is very low. Under $2,000. I recently hit a tree with the right front of the car and the estimate is $3,200 to fix it. Needs a fender, hood and other items. The insurance company says they will not pay to fix it because the value is lower that the cost to fix it. BULL I told them. I have been paying you for 22 yrs and have FULL ($300 deductible) COVERAGE. What Legal Theory are you using? If I pay you, then you pay me, no matter what the cost is. That is what I pay that premium for every year. My question: How can they do this? It can't be legal! If they won't fix it then they should return all my premiums. right? to: "fighting saints" Yes, I do have my classics insured with specialty insurance. One car is insured for $100,000, so I know about that. Just angry that they will not pay for the repairs. The car is NOT a total wreck. It can easily be fixed.
If you were given any car in the world? Just a daydream, but if tou had the choice of being given any car freebies, all insurance, maintenance & running costs included, what would it be ? Oh I can hear minds gravitating to the Ferraris & Bentleys new or classic. I suppose, on consideration, I would go for a Buggatti Royale. Well, they only made 6 of them, and the last one to surface for public auction fetched over $40m. The rest are hidden somewhere, but I would not hide it away in storage to stand and gaze at. I would drive the beast around. Perhaps you have a favourite, no expense spared car. What would it be ? Dream away ! Bob.
How much would it be for insurance on two vehicles if one was a classic? I am buying a car soon, and i am getting two one is going to be a 1990 GMC Sierra z71 stepside, and the other one is going to be and older car from a 1970-1973, do any of you have a clue how much it would cost a month or would i have to go to an insurance company to do that I live in new york, I am buying a car soon, and i am getting two one is going to be a 1990 GMC Sierra z71 stepside, and the other one is going to be and older car from a 1970-1973, do any of you have a clue how much it would cost a month or would i have to go to an insurance company to do that, if i register the older car under a classic car will it be less then just putting it under a regular car
getting a car retitled? just got a ford maverick for free but it has a salvage title how do i get it retitled back to a regular title? I live in pennsylvania and also would it better to get a classic plate for this car it is a 71? People have told me it will make your insurance cheaper but you cant drive the car at night then. thanks
Car Insurance? Would a classic (around '72) Camaro be considered high performance (From an insurance companys perspective)?

I am a 15 year old, on Cape Cod, and I was wondering is a 65-67 mustang right for a new car? I have loved mustangs since i was little, and i have always dreamed of having one for my first car. There are two issues that are swirling in my head, insurance, and gas. I understand mustangs of that age got like 12-15 MPG, and it will be expensive to fill up. But my concern that i do not know is, can i drive a mustang as a "commuter" car? I have seen insurance policies for classic cars and they have limitations on the amount of miles you can drive a year. Can you just buy a normal insurance policy on an old car, one with unlimited mileage? P.S. I know the danger with an old mustang, no airbags, ESC, drum brakes. But i do have experience in driving, I have driven in Syria, and if you can drive there, you can drive anywhere. I am ALSO interested in an automatic. Thank you Oh and I was also wondering about the cost to fix somthing on the car, I.E. body work, or a simple oil change.
What is the most reliable type of classic car to buy for between £1500 and £3000? I'm looking to buy a classic car for not too much money (no more than £3000) and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on a good all rounder. By that I mean one that would be fairly reliable to do a 6 mile round journey to work each day, and wouldn't be massively costly if things went wrong - although I accept that with an older car there is always a price to pay, oh and not too costly on the insurance. So far I've been looking at MGs and Porches, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
what are the top classic cars that sell and what makes a car a classic designation???? any other info on state licensing requirements insurance .and cost/price issues
How long do you keep your no claims if you are not currently using it? My husband has full UK no claims discount, but is not insuring a vehicle with it this year, next year he will want to use it again to insure a car for our son to learn in. Will he still be able to use his no claims discount or will he have to start at the beginning again? He hasnt had a claim or a ban or anything, he is driving on my insurance in my car and has a classic car policy on an old TVR for this year and you cant use your no claims on those. Thanks if you know the answer.
what are the top selling classic cars and what makes a car a classic??? any more info on state licensing, insurance and cost/price
UK how old does a car have to be to be a classicfor tax and insurance purposes? To insure and tax a vehicle in the UK as a classic, how old does it have to be? Is there any restriction on the type of vehicle?
Should I keep my 1995 Caprice or buy a new Econo Car? I have a 1995 Chevy Caprice Classic with 73,000 miles on it that runs well and is in great shape. It is a big V8 and likes gas but I own it and pay minimal insurance (MA Car Insurance sucks!.) I was thinking of getting rid of the car for a new Focus, Cobalt or Elantra. Would you keep the current car or spring for a new one?
