What would my car insurance be? I am 16, female, first time getting insurance. I am thinking about getting a convertible, would my insurance be more? If so about how much more? But black or blue, not red or yellow. One of my friends is my age/sex and hers is about $100/mo. Would mine be about the same, give or take a little? I am trying to come up w/ a budget and see what I can afford so any help will be greatly appreciated! Every "free insurance quote" site you must fill in your EXACT car type or be 18+, I have already tried that. I am in the US, in a small town (about 5000). I will add myself to my parents' insurance but i'm not sure what that is or if their car/house is the same. Thx for the help everyone!
Free Insurance Quotes Online? Hi, I just bought a car and I need to get insurance asap so I can drive. A friend told me you can get free insurance quotes from websites online. Is it true? ...I didn't say anything about paying...
Orlando holiday car hire insurance quote (seems expensive)? I have booked a flight and accommodation package with jetsave.com for 14 days in Orlando and I am staying in a hotel on the International drive. As part of the package, they're giving me a free car for 14 days. The car comes with free 3rd party insurance, but from the forums I have read, it's advisable to get CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) insurance instead. So, Jetsave.com is quoting me £285 for 14 days (ECAR=Economy car) CWD insurance. Is this expensive? I suppose I don't have any other choice...

How much do you think car insurance will be...? I am 18 male and drive a 4 door 2001 sedan I just started driving how much do you think it will be? I live in NJ

Car Insurance Trick Question (Australia Answers only please)? Ok....first of all, I must say this is not the right way of doing things. But just being curious of what you guys think of. I went online to get my Car insurance quote. And everything went ok, and when it comes to payment, it gives me "7 DAYS TO PAY IT". On the 7th day, if not paid, then the cover will be cancelled. I am thinking, why dont I just wait till the 7th day. And if I dont have any accident, then I go online to get another quote and the insurance cover date STARTS from that 7th day. That way, I dont have to pay a cent and my car was covered for 7 days for FREE. AND IF I CONTINUE TO DO THAT..............FREE COVER FOREVER.~~!! so....will I be out-smart by the insurance company? Or it is one way of making use of this loop-hole? Thanks for all feedbacks. PS. Again, I am not recommending this, as this is not right and MAY be illegal too (i doubt). Thanks Rawdy.... I must say, ur answer made me laugh my ass off.....u smartass.... Please give me some good answers ppl.... ps. To Rawdy: sorry, i wouldn't dare to do wat u were suggesting (2 cent petrol). I am afraid the manager is come out with a baseball bat chasing after me. Answer to Alex Comment: The 7 days is for me to Pay the bill. During that 7 day period, my car is insured. So if I crash my car on the 6th day, then I just pay the bill on 6th or 7th day, and they still pay for the damage repair. IF I DONT CRASH MY CAR by the bill payment date. Then I just ignore that quote and dont pay it. Then get a new quote and enjoy the 7-day bill payment duedate. This can continue on and on and on. Guys....we live in a economic crisis period. Money are hard earned. Thought this would be one way of saving some money or at least some interest while I am paying this on my Credit card.
where can I find car insurance who will LISTEN to my circumstances.? I have been driving for over 20 years but the last 5 years have been on my husbands policy for company cars. Before then I had full no claims but lost them as we lived in Singapore on a 3 year work contract, I was driving there also with a Singapore driving licence. When we came back to the UK I have been driving brand new top of the range 2.0 cars.(accident free) Now I need to get car insurance but the set forms do not take any of this into account. Hence the hefty quotes. I have only 1 controversial speeding penalty. Why dont you insurers out there LISTEN !!!
Car insurance with minor traffic violations from a different state? Recently I just bought a car and I'm looking for great deals on car insurance in the MN area or wherever. I've applied to almost four different insurance companies to get free online quotes (ex: esurance, progressive, etc.) and they've been asking if I've had driving violations in the past three or five years. Now my question is, If I had traffic violation tickets back in WIS, do I have to list them down since I'm living in a different state? or what's up? Give me some hints or insurance companies where I could get a great deal from as well!!
How much difference does a car alarm/ spoiler sport model make on insurance policies? We have been looking at cars and have finally decided on a particular model, but now we have to decide on options packages. One package is considered the "sport model" and has a spoiler on the end of it (the funny looking fin on the back), but it also has a car alarm system. The other package doesn't have any of the above, but everything else on the car is standard. I have heard that having a car alarm can reduce your premiums, while a spoiler or sports model may increase them. Is this true? If it is would or could the car alarm cancel out the spoiler/sport model increase? I have already tried getting several free quotes and none have allowed me to specify my policy this specifically.
Car Insurance are we been conned? I was quoted £318 for fully Comprehensive last year, I have never claimed, no convictions, no points on my licence, accident free for 20yrs. Yet I am now been quoted £418. I understand that my premium could go up but by over £100 in one jump, how can they justify this... No wonder people are driving without Car Insurance, it,s a complete rip of. One company Compare the Market. com was quoting me £1,300 for third party fire and theft. And the most annoying thing of all is all the advertisments on T.V. are false and misleading, take for example confused.com they sure live up to their name!!. They show insurance quotes with £220 upwards to £280 on the T.V screen and when you ring them or contact them on the search engine they are in the £450 upwards range, surely this is false advertising... Is there anything that can be done about this????
How much money would I save on car insurence? I have a 16 year old who I am debating whether I should put him in driving school to save money on insurance when he turns 17 and gets a licence. It would be added to my insurance. about how much money would I save on car insurance with a behind the wheel driving school in New Jersey? Please dont give me wbsites with a free quotes.
Will buying / using a salvage car be more expensive on my insurance? I'm considering buying a salvage car which already has a rebuilt title and has passed through state inspection, all that's left is to buy it. Buy I'm wondering if my insurance might go up because of it. (by the way, all those commercials that says "get a free quote" is crap)
Can anyone give me any insight on approximate costs for cars/car insurance? In defense of my ignorance, I'm only sixteen, and I'm trying to figure out how long it will take to save up for a car/driving school/insurance/all that stuff. And since I don't actually have a car yet, I can't get a quote on insurance. Also, I realize that every case is different, prices vary, and it's next to impossible for anyone to give me a definite answer, but all I'm asking for is approximation. Things I need to know: -Sixteen, newly licensed, about how much per month for insurance? -In your opinion, what's the best/cheapest insurance provider? -About how much is the cheapest that I would be able to buy a used car for, assuming I'm not picky in the least about anything besides it being one that actually runs, where I won't have to worry about all kinds of repair costs? I know this is kind of ridiculous, as no one can give me an official answer, but all I'm asking for is approximation. (: Thanks in advance. If I've forgotten any fees that come with car or insurance buying, feel free to educate me? THANKS TONS.
Why do they say "free quote in seconds" in those commercials? If you have seen or even hear a car insurance commercial you probably heard them say "free quote in seconds" or something close to that. Now when i hear that i keep thinking to myself "if i call them asking for the free quote, they'll reply saying "Here is a free quote from the movie The Dark Knight" or like "here's a free quote from Ghandi" or something like that. What do they mean by the word "quote"? Bonus points: What does the orange tab "Top Contributor" mean on this website?
Does Progressive have an option to cover insurance if I rent a car ('cause I didn't see it on their website)? Hi, I'm looking to rent a car. Now, I know that the optional car insurance offered by these car rental companies like Budget and Enterprise are pretty expensive. But I am renting a car because I don't have a car (renting for short term usage) and I have never had one, which means that I never have had car insurance. I was on the Progressive website to "get a free quote/buy" but one of the many questions they ask is what car do I have and also if I'm : 1) leasing it 2) own it, but make payments (installments, rather), and 3) own it, but don't make payments. The last two options don't apply to me, although would renting a car qualify as leasing it? If so, what "kind of car" should I put in since I have no idea what the specific make of car that will be available for me to rent. Or is this something I fill out after I rent the car (but of course, rentals won't give away a car if the customer doesn't show proof of being covered by car insurance). If you didn't notice, this is the first time I'm going about these things. One last question while I'm on this topic--I currently have health insurance through the Blue Shield Blue Cross company. I heard Progressive also provides health insurance, so would it be cheaper if I had to take health insurance as well as auto insurance from Progressive/a similar company that specializes in auto insurance but also offers health insurance? Please help me. Thanks so much in advance!
Would it be illegal to do this? I play an online game and am doing an offer for in-game currency that involves getting a free quote for car insurance. It wants a name, address, and all that good stuff. I do not own a car, and the address I gave it is not my own---I don't even know if anyone lives there anymore. I put my name in as Jane Doe. Is that illegal? I have someone saying, "YOu are commiting Felony Larceny. *By inputting false information into a digital application." Thoughts?
How much should I expect my car insurance to cost? I am 20, female, in college, decent grades, this will be my first car, i will be driving a relatively cheap car. 199? Honda civic/accord...something along those lines. I live in a very small town. I will only be driving about 10 minutes a day commuting to work and school. i wont be added to my parents policy, i will have my own. I tried doing a free quote thing, but i guess my town is too small, it didn't recognize my address! but from people who actually pay car insurance and know a think or two about it, i am curious as to how much i should expect it to be! http://gusdur.cn/car-insurance.html

Question About Car Insurance? I just got my license today. I will be joining my mothers insurance with State Farm, but I do not have my own car right now. It will cost 600$ more every six months to have me added on. Once I do buy a car, I was wondering if the cost to insure myself would go up and what the general minimum and generally maximum price I might be paying - I understand insurance rates have everything to do with where you live and what type of car you get, but I'm looking for upmost maximums and minimums that are possible, when ever I do a "free online quote" with cars I'm interested in purchasing it tells me there's not sufficent information and that I have to call the office - which is very silly to do considering that I don't really have a car right now. So feel free to throw out numbers, I've heard everything ranging from only 100$ a month to 500$ a month.
Teenager needs help for car insurance!!? I turn 16 in a few months and I was wondering if there were any websites that I could just punch in what type of car I was planning on getting and they would give me insurance quotes. All the sites i've been on make me sign up for things, all I want is a free quote that tells me how much my insurance would be. Any website suggestions would be great.
Thought I found a solution to high car insurance... Not so sure now? He-yo.... I'm guessing any young newly qualified driver out there would of already found out is the shear cost of getting yer car insured. I know as I'm 18, "male" which supposedly makes me high risk so the cheapest insurance I got was £3820 and that's only for third party, and the car is only a 1.2 litre Renault Clio. My instructor mentioned that he heard a scheme that's being done for young new drivers, companies called: Young Banana & Young Marmalade The idea is that these companies have merged together with insurance companies to fill a gap in the market which is us young drivers. The scheme is that you buy a new car or a nearly new car with these guys and the car will come with affordable insurance. I had a look at it and decided to get a quote just out of interest with a new car. So I selected the nearly new car category and went with the new shaped Renault Clio. You can select to buy the car straight away or get it financed over a period of months with 60 being the longest, I got £150 monthly payment as the average which is just payment for the car. The first years insurance came as £1635, (got all excited and jumping, over - reacting) provided that your parents have a good record they are added to the policy for free. I was thinking that it was too good to be true, new car, affordable insurance. But then could be too good of a deal to go without some hidden catches. I dunno what makes me suspicious about these sites but the more I investigate into it the more I feel that this could become quite expensive. Here are the websites in question: Young Banana - http://www.togreenstreets.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=32 Young Marmalade - http://www.youngmarmalade.co.uk/index.php When I investigated Young Marmalade in more depth it was the insurance that got to me cause my first initial thought was that you pay for the insurance continually with them as long as you own the car, but it looks more like a 12 month deal that has to be renewed each time.... The car as well comes out cheaper then its usual retail price (if new) or usual price for its mileage (if nearly new) so I started to think that theres a one off payment at the end of the contract to own the car.. What do you guys think of this? Before you guys answer the insurance quote I got of over £3000 was with my parents added into the policy as main drivers and me as a named driver...!
Increase in car insurance after passing test? RIP OFF? changing insurance questions.? i have just passed my test, and my insurance company (Quinn Direct) are trying to rip me off. When i had provisional license, my insurance was 1100 on a 1.1 saxo. which i thought was good 4 1st time driver. but now ive passed they are saying its going to increase to 2500, which surely is a load of rubbish? i did a few quotes with other companys and they are coming up around 1100-1500. if i cancel my insurance with Quinn (at a fee of £35) and join another insurance company, will i have to start over with my no claims? as i dont have a full year yet, my 1st no claim would be in march 09. please help? what should i do? i dont want to be ripped off but i also dont want to loose my half a year of no claims. Plus i also have 10 month acelerater insurance, which i paid a deposit up front, so i have 2 free months at the end of my insurance.
How much would my car insurance be? I'm 18 and I'm in college.Soon I'll be getting my license and a used 1990s sedan. My car will likely be financed and in the $1000-$2500 range. I cant seem to get free insurance quote online. Can someone tell me a rough estimate?

Do all USA Senators have problems with telling the truth? With economic troubles dominating the race, McCain opened the new line of criticism against Romney at his first event of the day in Fort Myers, Fla., and sought to shift the campaign back to his strength, national security, and away from Romney's, the economy. First, he slapped at Romney without naming him during a question-and-answer session with Floridians, saying: "Now, one of my opponents wanted to set a date for withdrawal that would have meant disaster." Minutes later to reporters, the Arizona senator was more direct: "If we surrender and wave a white flag, like Senator Clinton wants to do, and withdraw, as Governor Romney wanted to do, then there will be chaos, genocide, and the cost of American blood and treasure would be dramatically higher." Asked about the comment in Land O' Lakes, Fla., Romney bristled. "That's dishonest, to say that I have a specific date. That's simply wrong," he said. "That is not the case. I've never said that." The former Massachusetts governor added: "I know he's trying desperately to change the topic from the economy and trying to get back to Iraq, but to say something that's not accurate is simply wrong — and he knows better." Later in Sun City, Fla., McCain stuck to his assessment and said: "The apology is owed to the young men and women serving this nation in uniform." He said he was quoting Romney as favoring a "timetable" for withdrawal and argued that he was not misquoting Romney, saying, "Clearly, the impression was that he was ready to set a date for withdrawal." But Romney quotes circulated by McCain's campaign didn't show Romney making that exact comment — nor did aides back up McCain's earlier comment that suggested that Romney "wanted to set a date for withdrawal." In an interview with ABC News in 2007, Romney said: "There's no question that the president and (Iraqi) Prime Minister al-Maliki have to have a series of timetables and milestones that they speak about. But those shouldn't be for public pronouncement. You don't want the enemy to understand how long they have to wait in the weeds until you're going to be gone." While Romney has never set a public date for withdrawal, he has said that he agrees with Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, that U.S. troops could move to more of an oversight role in 2008. McCain, for his part, has been a staunch supporter of the Iraq war and advocated more troops on the ground for years before Bush embraced that position last year and ramped up the number of U.S. forces in Iraq. The buildup helped curb violence in Iraq, and McCain has not been shy about claiming credit for the strategy's success. Romney aides labeled McCain's charge "stunningly false," while McCain aides portrayed his Iraq comments as part of a broader effort in the coming days to question Romney's leadership, foreign policy experience and judgment. A former venture capitalist and business consultant, Romney has spent the past week arguing that he is the Republican best able to right a troubled economy, given his 25-year record in the private sector. He's argued that McCain, who has spent much of his life in the military and in Congress, doesn't have the qualifications necessary to lead the country out of a potential recession. McCain, in turn, has sought to beat back Romney on the issue by arguing that a president needs to be ready to lead and qualified on both national security and economics, and he offers both — despite having previously acknowledged that the economy is not his strongest suit. He also sought to rebut Romney's criticisms in an unusual fashion: he dispatched high-profile surrogates to talk with the press corps traveling with the former governor. Among them: former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift. She boarded the Romney press bus to repeat similar criticisms to reporters. ____ Associated Press Writers Glen Johnson in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Libby Quaid in Fort Myers, Fla., contributed to this report. * Email Story * IM Story * Printable View RECOMMEND THIS STORY Recommend It: Average (196 votes) 2.7 stars » Recommended Stories Full Coverage: 2008 Presidential Election Off the Wires * Obama runs away with SC primary AP, 3 minutes ago * Racial divide could hurt Obama beyond SC AP, 4 minutes ago News Stories * Obama wins in South Carolina at The Chicago Tribune (reg. req'd), Jan 27 * Obama wins South Carolina at Politico, Jan 27 Opinion & Editorials * Obama's Big Win in SC a Referendum on Clintons The Nation via Yahoo! Help with automobile insurance? I'm an 18 year old female with no prior car accidents or speeding tickets. I have a part time job and I'm going to be starting classes at a local community college soon. Around how much do you think auto insurance would be for 1) a motorcylce and 2) a small sedan I already know I can get free quotes but I just wanted to see people's estimates so I can guess around how much this will set me back per month. I know I should be more specific but again I just need educated guesses. Thanks!

Is this worth calling in to insurance? I hit my girlfriend's car backing out this morning. She had parked in the driveway and usually leaves before I do so I didn't really think about it when i backed up (my bad). I hit her car with the back side of mine and the front side of hers (kinda from bumper to above the front wheel). There's about 1-2 feet of scratch on my car (might wipe off haven't checked) and the paint is chipped off my back bumper. her car is scratched and there's a dent there but that's from her hitting a pole earlier. My deductible is $100 so I probably would pay less calling it in... but i'm not sure how much less and if it'd be worth it to potentially up my premiums. Should I get a free quote first and then call it in? will insurance be mad at me for doing that?? I think it would be a lot less hassle to just call it in, i just don't want it to be piddly and not worth my time and then go on my record.
i keep getting really annoying pop ups that i just cant stop !!!!? hi there , recently my wife was getting quotes for car insurance , since then i keep getting annoying advertising pop ups .My pop up blocker is enabled , i downloaded a professional pop up blocker ( which i have removed as thid didnt work ) , i have run spybot -agv and norton and am virus free so i dont know how to stop them. young driver, new car? right now i have a 95 civic that i have to share which makes it almost impossible to get to places i need to. i dont want to spend more than 7 thousand on a car. i want something reliable so im thinking VW? i had an older golf before which gave us problem, but it was free (as with the civic) so i took what i could. im not looking for hondas anymore because my insurance quotes for them are way too high, i saw a 97 325 BMW with alot of upgrades the other day but i dont have all the money yet. i also want something kinda stylish and good on gas ( i k now the BMW isnt, but its cheaper on insurance, for me at least) what do you guys think?
Should I accept a free BMW? My present car has taken a bashing and my sister's boyfriends mum has offered me a BMW that she doesn't want completely free of charge. I don't know much about it at this point but it's a '3i' (not sure of the other numbers) 1.9 litre, automatic, saloon and is about 8/9 yrs old. Checked out a rough insurance quote and it doesn't seem too bad (about £400) I've been driving 5 yrs. What are they like to drive? Do they guzzle fuel? I'm 24 yrs old and a student, I have a 5 yr old son, will I look totally out of place driving a car like this?! Not sure whether to accept or not (it's a genuine offer and the car is in excellent condition) Thanks Hi John Paul, this lady is very well off and already has a new merc, the BM is just a 'spare' car she wants to get rid of and on hearing of my car being bashed she's offered it to me! I'm just not sure it will suit my needs/may be a bit much for me to handle being a 1.9, what do u think? Also I've never driven an automatic, what are they like to drive?
Someone Just Said... Read Description for the rest.? "I am voting for Obama now and he has only given me hope" .... this was a question concerning would you vote for Obama if he gave you a bunch of free health insurance car, etc etc etc.... In my last question I stated that people are dumb, panicky dangerous animals... a Men in Black quote that for some reason stuck with me all these years.... must be 8 or 9 by now.... anyway, this is what I'm talking about... I have no decision on who I am voting for yet, Obama's hope is one reason I don't want to vote for him... he inspires this hope that has a very strong possibility of falling flat on its face and leaving us with absolutely nothing. Anyone agree that these people need to be a little bit more educated to vote? Shouldn't we require a test upon registration? Thank you for your answers. Undecided, is not uninformed. Searcher, I am simply trying to figure out what I can do to decide, that is my issue, they need to convince me, whoever convinces will get the vote. That is the idea anyway. I am currently favoring McCain because he has good ideas with no ending, rather than just a good ending with no support. Obama is saying... "This is where we have to be" and I'm am sitting here saying, "No, $hit... Thanks Captain Obvious, now give me a way." I agree Pat, that Bush is failing miserably, but I also believe that he is doing better than people allow each other to believe. It isn't his fault we are in this mess necessarily. This is the greed of Banks, I am talking about the economy now, I am in the middle of it, working in financials smack in the middle of NYC. Trust me I am aware of what caused it. I've even been able to play it with a portfolio that is up 50%. And don't downplay the statement, that a person is smart on their own, but people in groups are what cause the chaos and stupidity. I don't care that it came from a stupid movie, people are sheep, everyone should know that.
Fender bender - did not exchange insurance info? A car was parked in a parking lot where it shldn't be, even though there were lots of free spots. Exitting the lot, I scraped the fender of that car. Parked, waited for owner. He came. Told him he shouldn't have parked there. we got some witnesses too. I told him we shdl exchange insurance info. he was in a hurry. I said let's call police, get a report, and let our insurances deal with it. He said no, and kept saying he wld get the quote, and I pay for ALL of it. I said I am not paying anything without getting insurance involved. So, we went away without exchanging insurance info. just phone #s and first names. now, he is calling asking for insurance info, and that he has quotes. I don't know if he has insurance. he doesn't know my car's license #. if we had exchanged insurance then, I would pay for upto 50% . He didn't give/take insurance info by his choice. what do I need to do now?
When a car dealer doesnt tell you the car has been in an accident? Recently we bought a 2004 Chevy Tahoe (January 08). We put a dent into the back end while backing up. I decided that since we just got the darn thing, No sense it looking ghetto so i decided to get a quote and turn it into insurance. The quote was around 1700 dollars so we decided to have it fixed. When we went to pick it up, the guy at the shop asks me if I knew that the vehicle had been in an accident. We told them no and in fact we specifically asked the salesman that question and he said one owner, no accidents. Trusting people that we are, we believed him. Hindsite being 20/20 we should have had them pull a CARFAX on it right there. We didnt. We did when we got home and turns out the vehicle we rear ended back in 05 and has had more than one owner. My question is, Is there anything i can do because the dealer lied to me? We went through a couple other bad things with this dealer also. (they snuck in the cost of extended warranty when they told us that they were throwing it in for free. still dont know how that paper got our signature on it.) This would be the final straw.
Auto Insurance for 20-year-old? I just brought a car. 2001 chevy monte carlo. I am having a hard times getting reasonable quotes. I had license since 17-years-old and accident free. I stay in Baton Rouge, La and was wondering who have decent auto insurance? Under $300 monthly.
getting confused with insurance payments? my boyfriend insured his car 9 months ago but he got an insurance were u pay only for 9 months and get 3 months free. he has just bought a van so he will have to get a new quote what will happen to his 3 months free, will he still get his no claims aswel. when you get a new insurance do they take a payment out there and then or do they give you a month for your first payment? its a monthly insurance! Many Thanks he is only paying for one van now. he doesnt have a car no more.
Car accident: who pays for quotation costs? hello guys, hope someone can shed some light on this! 2 Questions 1: i had an accident in syd, aus, (it was my fault, so i'm agreeing to pay for it) and basically the costs of repair comes up 3/4 of the price of the write-off, and the other party wants us to pay for the write-off. I just wanted to confirm with people who have been in a smiliar situation, what did u do? I think i'm in the right in demanding i pay the repair, not the write-off right? 2: also the other party demands that we also pay for the quotation costs, if anyone here is in the insurance industry how does this work? She basically paid for 2 quotes, and we ourselves paid for one. The cheapest quote was the one that we paid for. But she wants to recover all the quotation costs, which comes to about $400, which is alot of money. Does anyone know if we need to pay her for that amount, or is it only for the quote that we agree on, so basically ours? If anyone has an answer please, please, PLEASE let me know, i know were at fault, but it seems stupid that we need to pay for quotes, where the guy that did our quote did it for free. Thanks

Can someone give me a quote on how much I would be looking to spend monthly? I have one semester left in my college career appart from my internship. I called a place to get some information on it and they pretty much offered my a job over the phone. The salary isn't great (probably like $25,000 a year), but in my field it's not always easy to find a regular salary at all and the job is something I would really like to do, so I am planning on taking it. The problem is they do not have on site housing and there is almost nothing to rent in the area except a couple of trailers about 30 minutes away for $425/month plus utilities. I have only ever lived with my parents and in college housing and so don't really know if I'll be able to afford it. I would have car insurance, gas, electric, water, cell phone, telephone, a horse (likely with free or significantly reduced board so just vet and farrier-and selling him is not an option as he's relavent to my job), most likely cable and internet, groceries, and possibly health and dental insurance. I don't know what the benefits are yet so I might not have to buy health insurance, but I am going to need it. Also, 6 months from May I am going to have college loans to pay off. Am I going to be able to afford living in one of those rentals? I'm not opposed to a roommate but I don't know anyone in the area. Iike I said, I'm not selling my horse. I will be the program director for a lesson and therapy program that uses their horses to help kids who have been abused and neglected. Their horses are all beginner horses who have probaly never been ridden by a good rider in their lives and my horse competed nationally and was sired by an olympic champion, so if I am going to be able to help the program have at least some level of quality, my horse is the one who is going to help me stay accurate and ride well, where as beginner horses will tollerate almost anything. I will graduate with my BS in Recreation with a concentration in Equestrian Studies
Kwik Fit MOT nightmare? I just had my first MOT today. It was free since I used a voucher given by kwik fit insurance. The MOT failed because of the exhaust, the two front tyres and wiper blades. Including the 10% discount I get from my insurance company, they quote me a total of £292. If I remember they said around £147 for two part exhaust, £20 for wiper blades and the rest for tyres. Is this price reasonable? People at work keep telling me that they are rip off. Who should I trust? Should I just go to a local garage? Another crazy thing they told me at kwik fit is that since the car was tested and failed, it's illegal to take it back on the road eventhough my old MOT expires on 23 of May. Is there any truth in that? Please help. Any advice whould be much appreciated.
How does carmax's 7 day offer work? "Want to know what your car is worth? To get an accurate estimate before you sell your car, bring it to CarMax and our Buyers will appraise your vehicle. We’ll give you a free written offer good for 7 days, and we’ll buy your car whether you buy one from us or not." Thats a direct quote from the site. What I want to know is after the seven days they wont buy it from you, or is it you have seven days to think it over before they will buy it from you? Also I have expired tags and NO insurance on my car. I want to know if I can drive it to Carmax without getting in trouble. If I get pulled over can I tell the officer im driving it to Carmax and get away with it? Also will carmax buy the car from me the same day as I bring it there?
Where is safe car insurance located in Memphis,Tn? I want to get some insurance and I got a free quote from them.I want to go and get the insurance but can't recall where I saw the building and I ask some people in my family but they can't seem to remember either.
The Nanny -- Nazi -- State Goes a long with Why People Are Scared (The original & my response)? Willys cynical thought for the day; In my web research, Declaration of Independence, etc., I have yet to find where the government says they'll be my freaking mommy! So you goddamn politicians stay the hell out of my life and pockets AZZHOLES! The Nanny State (I got this in a Biker email rag) Worrying about bacteria, New Jersey banned restaurants from serving eggs sunny side up. The ban has since been lifted. Some New Jersey localities have a ban on people pumping their own gasoline. Policemen issue citations for driving without a seatbelt. By law new cars must be equipped with air bags. Federal law mandates that all new toilets flush using a paltry 1.6 gallons of water. Georgia's governor mandates that classical music be given to all new mothers so as to aid infant IQ development. California, and others, has banned smoking in bars. Clinton wants a law passed banning smoking within 100 feet of a federal building. In parts of Ohio, children going trick-or-treating must obtain a special permit. These intrusions and more were recently revealed by television journalist John Stossel on ABC's 20/20. The stated motivation behind this gross intrusion and criminalization of private behavior is to protect us from making unwise choices. John Stossel asked Ricardo Martinez, head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), why can't people at least have air bag on/off switches. Martinez responded by saying that society makes decisions about what benefits most people, and most people benefit from air bags. Stossel interviewed Yale University's Professor Kelley D. Brownell, director of the Center for Eating & Weight Disorders who thinks Americans eat too many hamburgers and French fries. Professor Brownell wants government to tax fatty foods and those with little nutritional content and use the proceeds to subsidize fruits, vegetables and other nutritious foods. He's suggested that some of the tax proceeds be used to build bike and hiking trails. I'm wondering just when Americans are going to decide that we've had enough government meddling in our lives. It is nobody's business whether I eat eggs sunny side up, drive without wearing seat belts, or pig out on hamburgers and French fries. I'd like someone to show me Congress's constitutional authority for government protecting me from making unwise choices. Those who believe government should be in the business of making us take care of ourselves, should tell us where does it all end? Should government decide what time we go to bed? After all sleep is vital to good health. Should government force us to exercise, read wholesome literature, and bathe regularly? The people who advocate a nanny government (a better term is Nazi government) are cowards. You say, "What do you mean, William?" Take Kelley Brownell. If he doesn't want me to eat that Big Mac and French fries, let him walk up to my table and remove them from my plate. He wants no part of doing that because he doesn't want to meet his maker this year so he prefers using the brutal forces of government. "The rest is mine; When I was young, bullies use to pick on me, take food off my lunch tray and otherwise harass me. That's until I followed the advice of my father who told me that if you let a bully get away with one thing, the next day it's going to be something else and the following day something else again. He told me that the bullying won't stop until I decide to stand up and fight. He said that even if I lose the fight, the next time I'm bullied, stand up and fight again. Let the bully know that when he bullies, win, lose or draw, he has a fight on his hands. Eventually he will stop. I think Americans should employ my Dad's advice. As long as we stand as lambs before the slaughter you can bet that there'll be no end to Congress's bureaucratic stooges bullying us. This is still America, last I checked anyway, yes we have 'freedom' here but 'freedom' is, never was and never will be 'Free.' Those of us who like to eat hamburgers and greasy fries must take responsibility by a) walking around with a big butt b) doing exercise or c) (in my case) taking cholesterol lowering pills and *trying* to stay away from the greasy stuff. If we don't want to wear seatbelts, or helmets, WE, not Congress, must pay in pain, time (in hospitals, rehabs w/e), or loss of body parts. I'm firmly convinced I would never have survived, some of, the accidents I was in had I been hog-tied to the seat. The insurance companies, and Medical providers, ALWAYS lobby for these laws but I haven't heard of a single case where after such a law was passed the insurance company says, "Oh with your 20 year perfect driving record (not mine) we've decided that your next ___ year's insurance is on us." Has a hospital ever said, "Now that our ER doctors and nurses won't have to be patching up all the accidents maybe we should offer breast enlargement at half price?" Now stop laughing and reread this paragraph in it, under sarcasm, is the point I'm trying to make. The answer to both is NO! And unless an insurance company or hospital administrator is reading this, and wants to prove me wrong, I don't think it ever will be! The 'it's good for you' doesn't stop at the things listed above. What if a slimy politician took it in his, or her, head that tattooing is wrong? Or certain subjects can't be tattooed on anybody? Like large breasted blondes, skulls, flames, or spider webs? I hope I'm NOT giving them any ideas because I have all these. This can be taken as far as you want to go like; they pass a law that ONLY Army, Marine, Navy, Airforce w/e tattoos are kosher. Or just Democrat or Republican ink is allowed. How about the ONLY lower back, female, tattoo that will be allowed is a 'GodSmack Sun?' Okay tattooists stop salivating imagining how much business you'll get by people running out to get their favorite tattoo done. And remember the upswing will only last until enforcement duties are figured out, i.e., the local Police, County cops, State Police or help us all if the FBI gets the job. Actually help them I don't need any help! And of course that's not the only thing 'good for you.' This has been tried but what if Congress actually passed a law banning Rock & Roll, Country, Blues, Rock-a-Billy or Rap music. Or what if they legislate pianos, Violins and Trumpets are the only acceptable instruments? No electric guitars, fiddles, Blues Harps or Saxophones? And of course subsidizing lessons is another way to do, almost, the same thing! Americans are lucky the founding fathers came from Europe where Religion - a belief in their God - was considered 'good for you' so it was mandated in some places; which is where 'The First Amendment' came from. If European governments had mandated seatbelts on cable cars and horses, and or required at least 4 oz. of meat at dinner -- chicken, beef or fish -- there may have been another Bill of Rights. This one saying, something like, "Congress shall make no law requiring citizens to do anything somebody thinks will be good for them." Unless, of course, any of them made, or sold, seatbelts or had anything to do with producing, or selling, meat. In 1776 that was, almost, everybody. This was long before people either ate meat or were vegetarians. In fact getting enough to eat was more important than the cholesterol!" Now a few quotes; "The career of a politician mainly consists in making one part of the nation do what it does not want to do, in order to please and satisfy the other part of the nation. It is the prolonged sacrifice of the rights of some persons at the bidding and for the satisfaction of other persons. The ruling idea of the politician - stated rather bluntly - is that those who are opposed to him exist for the purpose of being made to serve his ends, if he can get power enough in his hands to force these ends upon them." -- Auberon Herbert "There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him." -- Robert Heinlein "The most basic question is not what is best but who shall decide what is best." -- Thomas Sowell http://www.total-knowledge.com/~willyblues/ From; Willys Jokes archieves

The Nanny -- Nazi -- State No Joke (The original & my response)? 100 ways to order a pizza the fun way...? 100 ways to order a pizza the fun way... 1. If using a touch-tone, press random numbers while ordering. Ask person taking the order to stop doing that. 2. Make up a charge-card name. Ask if they accept it. 3. Use CB lingo where applicable. 4. Order a Big Mac Extra Value Meal. 5. Terminate the call with, "Remember, we never had this conversation." 6. Tell the order taker a rival pizza place is on the other line and you're going with the lowest bidder. 7. Give them your address, exclaim "Oh, just surprise me!" and hang up. 8. Answer their questions with questions. 9. In your breathiest voice, tell them to cut the crap about nutrition, ask if they have something outlandishly sinful. 10. Use these bonus words in the conversation: ROBUST FREE-SPIRITED COST-EFFICIENT SYSTEM. 11. Tell them to put the crust on top this time. 12. Sing the order to the tune of your favorite song from Metallica's "Master of Puppets" CD. 13. Do not name the toppings you want. Rather, spell them out. 14. Put an extra edge in your voice when you say "crazy bread." 15. Stutter on the letter "p." 16. Ask for a deal available somewhere else. (e.g. If phoning Domino's, ask for a Cheeser! Cheeser!) 17. Ask what the order taker is wearing. 18. Crack your knuckles into the receiver. 19. Say hello, act stunned for five seconds, then behave as if they called you. 20. Rattle off your order with a determined air. If asked "Would you like drinks with that?", panic and become disoriented. 21. Tell the order taker you're depressed. Get him/her to cheer you up. 22. Make a list of exotic cuisines. Order them as toppings. 23. Change your accent every three seconds. 24. Order 52 pepperoni slices prepared in a fractal pattern as follows from an equation you are about to dictate. Ask if they need paper. 25. Act like you know the order taker from somewhere. Say "Bed-Wetters' Camp, right?" 26. Start your order with "I'd like. . . ". A little later, slap yourself and say "No, I don't." 27. If they repeat the order to make sure they have it right, say "OK. That'll be $10.99; please pull up to the first window." 28. Rent a pizza. 29. Order while using an electric knife sharpener. 30. Ask if you get to keep the pizza box. When they say yes, heave a sigh of relief. 31. Put the accent on the last syllable of "pepperoni." Use the long "i" sound. 32. Have your pizza "shaken, not stirred." 33. Say "Are you sure this is (Pizza Place)? When they say yes, say "Well, so is this! You've got some explaining to do!" When they finally offer proof that it is, in fact, (Pizza Place), start to cry and ask, "Do you know what it's like to be lied to?" 34. Move the mouthpiece farther and farther from your lips as you speak. When the call ends, jerk the mouthpiece back into place and scream goodbye at the top of your lungs. 35. Tell them to double-check to make sure your pizza is, in fact, dead. 36. Imitate the order taker's voice. 37. Eliminate verbs from your speech. 38. When they say "What would you like?" say, "Huh? Oh, you mean now." 39. Play a sitar in the background. 40. Say it's your anniversary and you'd appreciate if the deliverer hid behind some furniture waiting for your spouse to arrive so you can surprise him/her. 41. Amuse the order taker with little-known facts about country music. 42. Ask to see a menu. 43. Quote Carl Sandberg. 44. Say you'll be able to pay for this when the movie people call back. 45. Order two toppings, then say, "No, they'll start fighting." 54. Learn to properly pronounce the ingredients of a Twinkie. Ask that these be included in the pizza. 55. Call to complain about service. Later, call to say you were drunk and didn't mean it. 56. Tell the order taker to tell the manager to tell his supervisor he's fired. 57. Report a petty theft to the order taker. 58. Use expletives like "Great Caesar's Ghost" and "Jesus Joseph and Mary in Tinsel Town." 59. Ask for the guy who took your order last time. 60. If he/she suggests anything, adamantly declare, "I shall not be swayed by your sweet words." 61. Wonder aloud if you should trim those nose hairs. 62. Try to talk while drinking something. 63. Start the conversation with "My Call to (Pizza Place), Take 1, and. . . action!" 64. Ask if the pizza is organically grown. 65. Ask about pizza maintenance and repair. 66. Be vague in your order. 67. When they repeat your order, say "Again, with a little more OOMPH this time." 68. If using a touch-tone press 9-1-1 every 5 seconds throughout the order. 69. After ordering, say "I wonder what THIS button on the phone does." Simulate a cutoff. 70. Start the conversation by reciting today's date and saying, "This may be my last entry." 71. State your order and say that's as far as this relationship is going to get. 72. Ask if they're familiar with the term "spanking a pizza." Make up a description to go with the term. Ask that this be done to your pizza. 73. Say "Kssssssssssssssht" rather loudly into the phone. Ask if they felt that. 74. Detect the order taker's psychic aura. Use it to your advantage. 75. When listing toppings you want on your pizza, include another pizza. 76. Learn to play a blues riff on the harmonica. Stop talking at regular intervals to play it. 77. Ask if they would like to sample your pizza. Suggest an even trade. 78. Perfect a celebrity's voice. Stress that you won't take any crap from some two-bit can't-hack-it pimple-faced gofer. 79. Put them on hold. 80. Teach the order taker a scret code. Use the code on all subsequent orders. 81. Mumble, "There's a bomb under your seat." When asked to repeat that, say "I said 'sauce smothered with meat'." 82. Make the first topping you order mushrooms. Make the last thing you say "No mushrooms, please." Hang up before they have a chance to respond. 83. When the order is repeated, change it slightly. When it is repeated again, change it again. On the third time, say "You just don't get it, do you?" 84. When you'ge given the price, say "Ooooooo, that sounds complicated. I hate math." 85. Haggle. 86. Order a one-inch pizza. 87. Order term life insurance. 88. When they say "Will that be all?", snicker and say "We'll find out, won't we?" 89. Order with a Speak-n-Spell where applicable. 90. Ask how many dolphins were killed to make that pizza. 91. While on the phone, fake entering puberty. Fluctuate pitch often; act embarrassed. 92. Engage in some serious swapping. 93. Dance all around the word "pizza." Avoid saying it at all costs. If he/she says it, say "Please don't mention that word." 94. Have a movie with a good car chase scene playing loudly in the background. Yell "OW!" when a bullet is fired. 95. If he/she suggests a side order, ask why he/she is punishing you. 96. Ask if the pizza has had its shots. 97. Order a steamed pizza. 98. Get taker's name. Later, call exactly on the hour to say, "This is your (time of day) wake-up call, So-and-so." Hang up. 99. Offer to pay for the pizza with a public flogging. If any of the above practices are rejected by the order taker, 100. Say, in your best pouty voice, "Last guy let me do it."

Text Messaging While Driving SOURCES: www.switched.com www.nytimes.com www.news.com/ I’m doing my Oral Presentation on text messaging while driving. Driving while texting is dangerous and illegal in many places. Sending SMS messages while driving is just plain suicidal. People must really not value their vehicles, their own personal safety or the safety of others to drive while typing a text message on a numeric keypad with a car in motion. If you really must text or talk on the phone without a handset, pull the car off of the road and stop.I think texting takes more concentration than just talking. So Text messaging while driving should be banned and everyone who is coughed text messaging while driving should be punished. A Solution: The smart folks at Virtual Management, Inc. thought so and went about developing the Electronic Virtual Assistant (EVA). EVA offers a live transcribing service which can send and receive e-mail or text messages via voice mail. The system reads all-important e-mail or text message back to you on a hands-free kit. It will also back up to its database any data given or received by voice over the phone for a period of 10 years. "When you're driving and you want to respond [to a text message or e-mail], most people will thumb [type] a response, which is a little dangerous. ok, if I am liable fo an accident? Further to another q, some were of the opinion that I hadn't a case at a junction, regardless of the other cars speed (I had a sinking feeling on that at the outset, to be honest, as a friend had incredulously found a year or so back when hit by a car iniitailly travelling approx 100mph). In new territory here, so what now? Report to the police, then insurance (it was 4 days ago), if it's so cut and dried in this scenario do I just give the go ahead for the work to be done and then they pay? What's to stop them taking the mick. My friend, who would have fitted the door in question for free (a mechanic, a professional, for the information of the poster concerned with that comment) says the quote being bandied is ridiculous. Any advice would be most welcome so I don't get in a kerfufle when talking to my insurers tomorrow! Ps: My premium is about £650, the cost of repair to her car about £600.. would anyone be able to say if it's better in the long run to pay the bill myself
