Buy A Cheap Used Car New Car Knowledge Base
buy new cheap car or used cheap car from carmax? Is it better to buy a brand new cheap sub-compact car from a dealer priced at say $13K or buy a used car at www.carmax.com for $8K to $10K that has 7K to 33K miles on it? Also, I do have $15K in cash, so I won't be financing.
What's the best way to buy a cheap used car with bad credit? My wife and I just bought a house, so we are working on building our credit, unfortunately my car just broke down yesterday. What is the best way to get a new used one without paying out the nose for interest? We are pretty desperate at this point, so suggestions are very much appreciated!
Is it better to buy a car new, used or lease? I know each has drawbacks. A new car depreciates in value the minute you drive it off the lot. A lease can seem affordable, but you're left with no car (and no resale value) at the end of it. A used car is cheap at first, but you end up paying a lot in repairs. So based on your experience, which is most cost effective?
Where can look to buy a used but new car? I'm a college student and there are some things that i just need to get up and go do but i'm tired of depending on my boyfriend all the time who is very lazy at times. He doesn't mind doing things for me but its just sometimes you just want to get up and go and its the principle. Does anyone know where i can go either online or in person to buy a nice yet used and cheap car! Please i'm very desperate! By the way, my family doesn't make that much money and i'm pretty much gonna be on my own.
Where to buy cheap car part? I need a intake manifold set, where can I buy a used or new one? I don't want to spend a lot of money, because I have to pay for the labor. I am living in Newark DE. Good website if fine too. Thanks.
Where can i buy CHEAP leather seats for my car new/used.? I have a 02 toyota 4runner and i understand that it will cost some money but i would much rather have leather seats in the car preferably black or tan. If anyone can post a website or place where i can get these seats relativly cheap - i need a front pair and a backseat row

I need to start building my credit soon. i want to ride in a new car but i only get paid 150.00 every two weeks. cheap used or new cars any tips? where can i buy cheap cars from? dont mind used cars am looking for an audi A3,A4 or bmw 320d ive been told to travel up north for cheap cars any tips or contacts?
When is the very best time to buy a new car? I want to buy a new car using Obamas new "cash for clunkers" program, but its still a bit too expensive for me to upgrade. Is there a specific time in the year that car prices are lower? When do the new models for 2010 come out (because maybe they'll wanna get rid of the 09 models) Also, i want a small cheap car, do you have any ideas for me?
Do dealerships buy used new cars? I have a 2006 Mazda6 and want to sell it and possibly trade it in for a cheaper car at a different dealership. Do dealerhips buy new cars (I know they can pay the trade-in value for what it's worth) not even for a trade? Or could I purchase a cheaper car and they pay the difference?
Should I buy a new car with 25% down or buy a cheap used car? I'm moving to a different state and am contemplating whether I should get a new car with 25% down payment or buy a cheap used car till I have a bigger down payment on the new car I want. I do have a job in the state I'm moving to, that is why I am moving in the first place. Anyways, the new car I was thinking of getting was an approximately 17,000 dollar mazda 3. I could easily pay this car off in 3 years. What about getting a certified pre owned car?
Why is it cheaper to buy a new car than to repaint one? I've looked around and saw that if you want a perminant paint job that won't fall off after a few weeks the cost is 3 to 5 grand. My car is only worth 3 to 4 grand. Why would I go through the trouble of getting a paint job, if I can go out and get a new (used) car for cheaper! If anyone knows any different, I'm trying to get a paint job on my car to black perminantly for around $200-$500.
Should I fix my 93 Ford Explorer, tune my brother's 97 Saturn SW2, or buy a cheap used car? I currently own a 93 Ford Explorer. It has 144,000 miles on it, V6, 4wd, and a/c. Recently my transmission gave out and I have been quoted at upwards of $1,000 to fix it. I do not have $1,000 but I would be able to secure a loan for that amount. I paid $1,000 for the car when I purchased it and it is in fair condition but needs new front brakes. My second option it my brother's 97 Saturn SW2. It has 142,000 miles on it, an I4, and no a/c. However, aside from needing a tune up and alignment there are no major problems with it. I estimate the tune up would cost somewhere around $500. My last choice is selling the car or trading it in and purchasing a newer model used car at a dealership. This is obviously the most expensive choice but the one with the least headaches. My question is simple, what do you think I should do? Fix the explorer, tune up the saturn, or buy a cheap used car?
Should I buy a car in New York or Colorado? Does anyone know in which of those two sates it would be cheaper to buy a newer used car? I live in NY and will be moving to CO. I can register the car in NY, if that's cheaper, and then change it in CO after I move. Is there any time limit required before you can change registration and avoid another state's taxes? Any links for comparison would be appreciated! Thanks!
Is it good to buy a new used car by financing it once you're in the military? I leave for the Air Force soon and I don't have a car and when I get out of BMT I'm looking forward to buying a 2007 Chevy Tahoe, they average at $16,000 to $20,000 but I have to finance it and my credit is fine and in great shape. I just wanted to know if it's good idea to finance a new used car right out of BMT and Tech School or should I just get a cheap crap car at first? Any advice helps, thanks!
Best “CHEAP” Fun-Car to buy: A new 2012 Mazda-3 or a used 1999 Porsche Boxster? (both with Automatic)? I want a ‘fun ride’ to drive year round, summer and snowy-winter, but I only earn $30,000 per year in my Engineering job, so when I heard that the Mazda3 will be getting a much improved 2.0 L ‘SkyActive’ direct injection engine and a new 6-speed automatic resulting in 40 mpg HWY (instead of the current 33 mpg HWY ) I was really happy and thought that would be perfect for me. I want to keep the car for at least 10 years and I do a lot of highway miles on it for my commute, plus I travel all over North America on road tours several times a year too, so I need something that will cost very little to run and maintain. My other choice is to buy a ‘COOL’ Porsche Boxster , somewhere around 1999 to 2001, and a good example with 275,000 kms on it cost about $20,000, about the same cost as the new Mazda3 will cost. So what would be a better buy for someone who wants to keep the cost of car ownership to a minimum, should I buy the 12-year old used Porsche with 300,000 km or the brand-new Mazda3 ? ( I don’t want a car that will require a huge amount of cost in terms of maintenance and parts replacement for the next 10 to 12 years. ) ( yes, the new Subaru Impreza for 2012 will be getting a newer fuel efficient engine and CVT transmission and will get 36 mpg on the highway, much better than what it gets now. I was thinking of that too, the hatchback version would be best for me. )
Should I buy a car that is used or new? Hi, I'm a third year college student in the US and I think I've waited long enough to buy my first car. According to this recent question of mine ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090920222305AALLkAL ), I have been convinced that my first vehicle will be a car. Now my other dilemma is whether it should be used or new. I guess it is kind of a given that usually first cars are ... used especially if you're a college student. But I'm in this rundown city of Savannah, Georgia where the used cars aren't that diverse and a lot of used cars here are well over 100,000 miles. I live on-campus and I don't commute but sometimes it is a must if I need supplies because this campus is not centrally located from any mall or convenience store. I figure that a car should be an investment anyway, and I don't want to put down 4000$ and then in 3 years' time buy a "good" car. I want to buy something which is going to last me a while, even 10 years into the future. I hate buying things just to get rid of them especially seeing that a car is gradually going to be essential. I know we can afford it although my parents think I should buy something cheap and temporary. I don't mind roadtripping across the country if I land a job far away from here or anything. I have no definite home as such besides' my boyfriend's house in LA, California (on the other side of the country). Please help me out in this matter. Thanks a lot! Some of my side considerations are also that I'll be getting my driver's license very soon and this means that the insurance is going to be high. But I want driving to be second nature to me (I have driven in the past and I'm pretty good at it) before I have to start worrying about job hunting and landing a job.
Should we get a new car, used one, or buy back the totaled one? My boyfriend and I were in a car accident on Sunday, and his '00 Chrysler had a little damage peripherally (front and back -- a little on the hood, trunk, & bumper) and ruined his radiator. We had it towed, and Progressive is choosing to total it. They're giving him $2,200 for the car, and now we're totally conflicted about what to do. 1) We can take out a small loan of like 2 more thousand, go to an auction with our friend and buy a (hopefully) nice used car for 5K. Concern: What if the car breaks down? 2) We can go to a dealership and finance a nice cheap new car. Concern: I don't know how much he'll have left over after the monthly car payment, and I'm not sure if his insurance will skyrocket even more. 3) We can buy back the car from the insurance company for $500 and fix it with the remaining $1700. Concern: I don't know exactly how much the damage will cost to fix, and who's to say the car won't die soon anyway (Its got 170k miles on it)? Help! Any sound advice would be greatly appreciated.
Is it cheaper to buy a car in Arizona? I am looking to saving up and buying a new/used car. I live in California, but wanted to know if i can buy my car in Arizona and get the same car i would buy in California but cheaper? And if you can tell me, when would it be the best time to buy a car?
Whats a good option for a CHEAP fairly fast car (Used) and moderately reliable? *****Note: Alot of information, try to atleast read most of it****** Hello all, I have once again been looking around on the internet (again) for some nice cheap cars I may be able to buy in the near (or far) future. I currently drive a 04 Hyundai Tiburon GT, it is really lacking on the performance side of things, but its appearance is utterly flawless (aside from some minor scratches and paint chips from rocks). It has been a good car, but I know it won't last forever, plus as stated its fairly slow so I would either like a 2nd car or to replace it all together. The tiburon is a V6 172hp 130ish ft lb torque low output car. 2 door, leather seats with a moon roof, Infinity sound system, 15' scraped rims (previous owner couldn't drive), and plastic interior. I am going through out this tiburon rundown so you understand it IS a good car, but for the next one I want something better. Now for my living area and activities. As for location, I live in a small town in West Virginia (no, i'm not a hillbilly, but there all around), and as I suppose most people know WV is known as "The Mountain State." This is a literal statement, out roads are 85% narrow winding paths converted from old Wagon roads (what my father has Always told me). Weather conditions vary during the year, from desert drought, to floods, ending in blizzards. Myself, I rarely do anything other than go to college come home and occasionally go around to the few stores with my friend, thats car-related activities, and a job most likley by the time I actually get the new used car. My main wants for a car are a high output motor with decent horsepower, very responsive controlls, nice torque for a nice gas-to-engine feel, and it has to be an okay car stock AKA runs nice with no aftermarkets, although I may add some eventually. Appearance isn't very concerning to me, but there's a point that won't be passed. The cars uses will be ofcorse the average every day erands and trips, along with possibly some racing if they open a track up, if its built for it maybe some off-road rally racing, if it AWD/RWD maybe some offroad drifting. Plus just going over the speed limit to show off to myself, no-one else than me. It needs to seat atleast 2, which is done by pretty much every car. My main car wants: 06/08 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 06/08 Subaru Impreza WRX STi 03+ Nissan 350z (any base) Cars I DO NOT WANT: Another Tiburon or anything Hyundai Civic, I know there popular, but I really dislike them Cobalt (I literally loath these) Ford Focus Most other things are fine. As stated earlier, it needs to be fast, faster than my tiburon (134 max, 0-60 in 7 second, that really isn't good) and about the same control. Gas milage isn't much of a concern, just stay around the 18mpg mine does (or better). Chances are I will get multiple people recommending Mustang's, in all honesty I wish I got one instead of my tiburon, my friend has a base model one, he likes it but claims it is extremly hard to control on sharp curves. Now, if you have managed to make it this far I am surprised, it is finally time for a price range. Now, as a price range I cannot be extremly accurate since I do not know when I will/if I will get a car at all. What I expect would have to be -5k if I don't trade my tiburon, 12-14k if I do trade. I look through the "Auto Trader" sales paper that is distributed occasionally, there's a few cars for 1000-3000 that aren't bad, so possibilities are all around me. Thanks greatly to everyone, KingTirant Whats everyones thoughts on a Honda Accord EX coupe? I "like" them, they are obviously dependant being made by honda (200k miles usually). What would be a good price for a 94-02 one in fair/good condition, and how much would it cost to replace some of the frame, front with an acura integra (front lights and bumper), and a rear light swap with either the 02 model (if i cant get an 02) or something that resembles a skyline (matches the front integra). I know the integra front is possible as I have seen it done, but it may be expensive. My main dealings are with the great debate, Import vs. American. I know Imports look better, but they tend to cost more to get up to specs, as with the 2 main americans (camaro/stang) there expensive to ensure. Most of the cars I like from japan are hard to find 350z, 240sx, STi, Evo, etc, and they aren't cheap to get either (350's held its base price for along time). I was thinking of myself and my friend to both get a mustang gt 98+ and have our own little deck-it-out contest. Supercharger, new heads&cams, custom exhaust, and a salem kit for me (maybe cobra fin). Currently i'm paying around $160 per month on insurance, thats pretty much everything on it other than natural disasters (if its ment to be struck by lightning, so be it). I'm thinking it won't spike to over 250 per month with w/e I get aslong as its resonable (no cobra/lambo/ferrari/porche/supra etc.)
What's the BEST&CHEAPEST new car to buy these days??? My husband and I are a young stylish couple, however we cant afford the car of our dreams. What would be the nicest and cheapest car to buy? We also would like a brand new car (nothing used)And we would put like $3,000 down and then make monthly payments....... Thanks so much in advance for the advice!- ; ) Stella_Rossa77 We like driving stick shift!
Should I sell my clunker and buy a new car? I have a 1996 honda civic with 150k miles on it. I am debating if I should sell my car and buy a new(used) car. The reasons I want to sell it: 1)The AC dosent work, not worth fixing and it gets hot in Atlanta. 2) Has good bit of body damage that I have hammered out myself, not an vechical you would want to pick up your date in. 3) It's not worth much right now, so I want to get what It's worth now before the value depriciate more(Personally I think it has depreciated to it's lowest value). I would guess it's worth $2000 tops. 4) This car affects my personal life, people judge me, I cant really impress anyone with it. The reasons I want to keep it: 1) It runs fine, no mechnical or engine issues 2) Gives great gas mileage, I can squeez 45MPG when I am Hypermiling. 3) Inurance is cheap, since it's old and I have only liablity coverage. 4) This car will probably last me for another year or two before it starts giving serious problems. So what would you do?

Used car or new car? i need help read the story!? i dont know if i should get a brand new car or used car for my first car. I turned 18, 2 day ago and im now planning to get a car but i dont know if i should get a brand new or old one. Also im not rich soo its gonna be down payment to pay the car. i live with my parents so i dont need to worry about paying with them the rent. i just need a full time job at the airport or somewhere else then i can get a car. If i buy a brand new one then the payment is gonna be higher because i dont own the car yet and if i get a used cheap car i can easily pay it within the year or 2. the only problem with used car is that its been used and you dont know if the car has problem near the future but its cheap to easy to pay. But in the other hand, brand new car is gonna be high payment but guarantee the car wont have a problem. so help me out guys?!?!?
looking for a new rwd cheap car? im looking for a RWD car thats cheap n new, not used. was lookin at the charger base model, but its still a bit up thier, i bought a car that was around $27k n the monthly payment are waaaayy to much almost $500, so i cant deal wit that nemore. n i gotta look into the insurance and all those extras which u gotta pay more, so thats y i saw the charger, 4door, rwd. idk.. so help me plz, plz n thank you
Buy a new or used car? college student? I'm a college student and I would like to buy a car. I know nothing about cars because my parents don't drive... I am convincing my mom to buy a used car (low mileage) cuz its cheaper and insurance will be cheaper as well. But she's saying that used cars are not that reliable. and why do people sell their cars??? So, if I test drive a car at a dealership, do I need to get a temporary insurance? And, do I need to take the used car to a mechanic if i buy it from a dealer, i know you do if you buy it from a private party. What is the process of buying a car and how long does it take you to shop around? You go car shopping, get insurance, pay for the car, and then drive it home, right? Also, which insurance company is the cheapest in SF, CA. I've had my license for two years. I know its a lot of questions, but I don't know much about cars. Thanks!
can i trade a new car for a used one? lets see i know repo'ing it would be bad but i can afford the car its just the insurance is too damn high, now if i was to buy a cheap car say $5000 i can pay off right then and there but dont pay off in full just enough to finance it and trade in my mazda and it would knock off a good $2200 a year off my insurance. would a used car dealer trade me for my new car our would i have to do something else, i still owe almost everything on the mazda too, since that would put me in a small upside down loan i think its the only way i can eat. i know i'll be pating the same or a few bucks more but i'll be saving alot more money on the insurance and i'll be putting less money into the car. people tell me to sell my mazda 6 2007 but how can you sell a car you dont own yet?
Can I use my claim payout to buy new car? Ok, it may seem like a stupid question, but this is my first wreck, and so I'm confused!!! Ok, so I drive a Kia Spectra. The Damage quote was $3800. The reality is, my car is really only worth about 6k, so I'm sort've stuck wondering why pay 4k to repair 6k car. I owe right under 9k on the car, so here's what I'm wondering. Can I take the check they're sending, trade in the car, and just pay off the difference on the loan and start fresh? I realize that's 3k out of pocket (or that I may have to roll over, but I'd get a cheap new used car anyways). I plan on contacting my agent, but they're out for the weekend so I just wanted to get some opinions. TIA!
Should I buy a New or Used car? Hi, I am 19 years old, drove my dads car almost daily since 17 and I think its time for me to buy my own car. My only concern is new or used? Benefits from Used is that its much cheaper, but it will be hard for me to spend all my money on one of the cars I like.. The benefits from a new car is that I can have monthly payments as low as $159 a month for about 3 years or so. What do you guys think? please opinions and advice or some experiences.
Best Place to Buy a Used Car in New England? I just passed my driver's test and now my parents and I are looking for a car for me. It needs to be used and most likely fairly cheap. We are specifically looking for a jeep but would look at other models if they fit our specifications. What websites or car dealerships would you recommend we look at? Any information would be appreciated!!
Check engine light comes on & car dies when driving slow? 93 Buick LeSabre. Also the oil gage goes crazy ? when I'm driving the car. Could it just be broke? I took it to a mechanic and he said it's the throttle position sensor? I have about $1,000 to spend either to fix this car or I can buy another cheap car. The car also needs a few wheel bearings and a new battery or alternator because it sometimes doesn't start. (Haven't had that checked yet) It does have almost 200,000 miles on it, but other than this I've had the car for almost 5 years & have put hardly no money into it yet. What would you do? Fix it or buy a new used car. The throttle position sensor is supposed to be what's causing the car to die when driving slow. That is $300, the wheel bearing is $300, a new battery or alternator up to $100 and the oil gauge I have no idea?? Total would be only $700 plus labor? I agree that at least I know what's wrong w/ the Buick & a new used car could be even more problems!
cheap used car - new driver? So i'm looking to buy a car that is reasonably cheap to run, reasonably cheap to buy, and reasonably cheap to insure. I'm currently taking lessons, and i hope to of course get a car after that, anyone know of any good places to look? other than ebay or would you say thats best? :) thanks !
Is it best to buy a used car or new car? We need to buy a 2nd car for husband's work. We will prob only keep it for a few years. Should we buy a new car that would be easier to sell later, buy a 2010 which would be cheaper or should we buy an older 2005/6 car for the lower ticket price but may not be able to get as much when we go to sell it later. He gets a monthly stipend for the car from work. A cheaper car would allow us to keep the remainder of the stipend or is it better to spend most of it on a more expensive car and less risks of repairs and better value when we sell it. This is more of a financial question. Thanks
New or Used for a First Car? So... im going to buy my first car and i am deciding between a cheap new car or a nicer used car.. example's of new cars: Hyundai Accent: http://www.hyundaiusa.com/accent-3-door/ Kia Rio: http://www.kia.com/#/rio/explore/ and for the used cars my budget is 10k soo.... which would you get? thnx in advance!!!!
Doesn't it make sense to buy a cheaper brand new car vs an expensive used one? I'm in the process of looking for another car. I've already had my first car since I was 15. It recently broke down and is unusable. I've been looking well over two months (before it broke down) for another car. Used car prices are extremely ridiculous to me, even from private sellers. I need a car asap because of the things I'm doing and I don't have months to save up. I have $1500 to put down and I can afford up to $250 a month after that. At first, I was looking for a used car under 6k, but they all seem to be pieces of crap (even after test driving). All the decent used cars are at least 10k. But there are some brand new cars I've found that I can get around 12k. So wouldn't it make sense to pay just a little more to get a new car? For example, I can get a 2011 Chevy Aveo for $11k-13k. But a 05 Malibu with 50k miles would run $10k. See what I mean? The only part I'm worried about is that I have to keep affording $250 a month for 5 years, which makes me nervous because since I'm only 20, a lot can happen in 5 years. What do you think?
Looking for a new used car, are their any that I should stay away from? I just went through a bankruptcy and my mother in law is cosigning on a car for us. We have conditions that we have to go buy when looking for a car. It has to be either 2003 or newer with less than 100,000 miles on it or for a 5 year loan it has to be 2007 or newer. I am looking at cars between $7,000 and $10,000. I see a lot of repeats on the cars.com website for certain cars. Chevy Cobalts, Kia's, Hyndai's and others I was just wondering if their are any that are known to be cheap bad cars. I am looking for a good deal so I don't want to be suckered into getting a car that is going to break down in a year once all the warrenties expire.
Buying a new/used car? What is a good, cheap, affordable, good on gas, car to buy? I am not buying a brand new one, but yet a newish used one, like a 2006 or 2007 model with low mileage...any picks or advice?
Is it cheaper to buy a used car or lesae a new car? I am in need of a new car. The problem is that I am kind of short on money right now. If I buy an used car, I will need to buy something that is $10,000 or less and pay it off with a 5 year loan. I would like something along the lines of a small pickup truck. I am now also considering the option of leasing a new car. I figured that this would be a good idea if I have to settle for a car that I don't really want so I don't have to be stuck with it making payments on it for the next 5 years. I think that the monthly payments are cheaper too. Would it really be cheaper to lease than to buy with financing?
How much is a typical car? i get a car my junior year and i whatever i save for a car, my parents will match it and thats how i get a car. how much is a typical car? how much is expensive for a car? and how much is a cheap car? should i buy my car new or used... i reallyyy want a mercedes, is this realistic (im good at saving money) i work at jamba juice..haha... PLEASE HELP!! thanks(:
cheapest way to buy a car? I'm looking to buy a car (used or new) and i'm wondering if anybody can help me figure out what would be my best option... Do you think it would be cheaper in the long run to shell out the money for a new or almost new car, or to buy a used one cheaper that might need work in the future?
How to buy a new car!? Hi, iam buying a new car but i don't know what to look for, what to ask the person selling the car, i don't know what iam doing but i do need a car, any advice on what questions i could ask or what kind of things i could look for in to buying a used car? i want a pretty cheap car, used, and under $2,000. hope that info helped you out on what you can help me with, thx.
Whats the cheapest new car I can buy? I've recently decided I'm not going to buy a used car but I'm going to buy a brand new car. Only problem is that I don't have $25,000.00. keep high car payments & interest rate or just buy cheap but reliable used car outright? I was in a bind a few months back & had to buy a car from a buy here, pay here place (my credit is not good & was unable to get a regular loan, it was the only place that would approve me, and I couldn't get a co-signer, either) ... bad thing is, it's a 24.99% interest rate, and the payments are $160 every two weeks ... I am struggling to feed my son and I, and pay our bills to keep our apartment, and was thinking about relinquishing the car (the payoff is more than the car is worth because of the interest) and just buying a cheap, reliable used car outright for under $1000 ... any ideas or suggestions? Anyone have this kind of problem and come up with a different solution? Or have an idea of how to get a good, cheap used car? Thanks!!! forgot to mention, the car broke down 2x already and the dealer woudn't pay, and it's still not fixed right ~ might be a lemon, but it's used and not much I can do about it
How if I buy used car in the UK? I really want to learn driving here and want to buy old cheap car, but i don't know how much it cost the insurance and that if I buy 200£ old car? Any idea?
How to buy a cheap used car and the tricks on ebay? I want to know a little bit about buying a car, I am a high school student, I live in Topeka, KS which is a small capital city, I don't think there are some good transportation other than cars, just want a car to drive around town, i probably will buy one next year, and don't really have much $ to pay for a car. probably 5k for is a lot, and also don't want to pay much for gas (I want a car AT LEAST City 25mpg), and I want a 4 door sedan, also I hope i can get a undamaged car, and, if possible (not really possible), I want a hybrid, they are gas savers. like toyota '01-'03 prius (the old design one), '03 civic hybrid, they are all good cars. but in kansas, the used cars are not very good. Last year my family got a '99 camry for $8k, and runs only 20mpg in city. about $15 per 100mi. Also, I went to autotrader.com, cars.com, the cars there are all expensive, but in eBay, some cars like Lexus RX400h hybrid is only starts with a penny, or a dollar, or couple hundreds of $, and only some old cars like '01 prius with $2000+ is a little bit realistic. I got confused. Can i really trust them? do they have tricks to sqeeze more money? And how much money do I need to pay if I bought a car in a further state? I don't know. Please tell me how it is. Also, I hope someone can give me a list of some fuel efficient cars.I just want a 4 door car with nice MPG, also in a fine condition, better be not crashed before. I got some cars I like for my list: civic, civic hybrid, corolla, chevy prizm, Insight(if it has a 4door version, I will definitely take it), prius, hybrids other than GM's (I won't take their hybrids unless they have 31+ city MPG, like Malibu & Camry hybrids, Malibu runs 25/33, Camry runs 33/34!) Thank you very much you guys!!!!!!!
Buy used cheap car or fix old? I have a 1996 Chevy Tahoe. It will not pass next years inspection due to excessive rust. Or I could buy a used car for up to $1,500- If a different car is suggested than what would you recommend purchasing? NO LINKS PLEASE!!!
What would you do? I need to buy a car - probably used and need to figure out...? How to do it given the following circumstances: I have $12,000 saved up. that's all my savings. I wanted to buy an old used cheap car for about $6,000 at first so I would have transportation and keep some money in the bank and not have a payment. But I have two kids and a dog. I have not been able to find anything safe and reliable. I have found some 2003 models that actually still have warranty left on them. But they cost @ $12,000. I still would not have a payment but I would have a better car but i will have used all my money. What should I do? Please.
Car payment or buy a used cheap car? I have no more than $2000 to spend. I am quite handy and can do most repairs on my own. Should I take on yet another monthly expense or should I spend the 2 grand and take my chances? If used should it be import or domestic?
Yeah I'm looking to buy a cheap used car...? I'm a student, looking to buy a car. My budget is in the range of $1000-$2000. I live in the United States. I've been looking at Saab 9000, Saab 900S and some older Volvo models such as the 240 and 850s. I know that older American cars are garbage, and I really want a Swedish car. Also, I want to buy a standard transmission car, not automatic. I drive my parents car now which is automatic, but I really want to learn manual. I need something that will last me about 3 years. Any suggestions or feedback? How are these cars that I am looking at in terms of reliability, safety and durability? Are they worth it? Thanks in advance. I really appreciate any help.

Which used car would be better to buy? Subaru or Nissan? Alright. I'm 17. and i am looking for a cheap car to buy. My uncle has a Subaru Outback or legacy. looks like a 1999ish , Stick Shift/Manuel for about $1800. My mom has a Nissan Pathfinder, automatic, a 1995ish for about $2000. This will be my first car so which one would be better suited for me? Also I am only willing to spend tops $2100 for a first car. So hummers and Audi's are out of the question. and please people, just between these two cars.

Can I have a down payment back if I cancelled the deal with used car dealer? Hello knowledgeable guys! I signed the contract to purchase a used car from used car dealership in Connecticut and paid a dawn payment 300$. My intentions were to send this car to my dad to other county, but I figured out the costumes fee a so ridiculously high, so it’s cheaper to buy car there. So I asked a dealer to cancel the deal. They refused to return my 300$ back. They didn’t offer me to sign a cancellation papers. In the contract it’s no even a word that is not refundable, and to be honest I wasn’t aware that they keep it. So the owner told me when this car will be sold I can have my money back. They sold it, but don’t want return my down payment (no return calls to resolve it). Unfortunately this agreement of returning my money was only verbal . And now the question: Can I return my money back? Thank you very much! thank you very much Steve for you quick answer. But I think I have to be aware by dealer that down payment is not refundable. And i n my contract says that it`s down payment and they shoed me later small paper on the wall DEPOSIT is not refundable (not down payment) is it the same, does it makes any difference?:)
In NJ, when I buy a car from a used dealer, can I buy it already inspected? I'm about to buy a cheap car, that is apparently in good conditions, the mechanic already approved of it, but it is not inspected yet, and the dealer wants the money right away because he says after I do the inspection I've already done all the paper work to my name, and he won't take it back. He says he can't do the inspection himself because he's a dealer and not the owner, but he guarantees that it will pass inspection (just with his word). So, does someone know exactly how these deals work, because I'm young, I don't have a guy who knows about cars around, and I don't wanna get scammed. Thank you for your help.
How do I apply for a loan to buy a car from a used seller? I want to buy a car when i'm 18and have a job... but want one from a private seller and not one from a dealership simply because I wouldnt have enough money to put down on it. So instead I was thinking of buying a small cheap car for my first car,and getting a loan to for the car. And then pay the bank back that way or whatever they do. Can you apply for car loans at a credit union? I'm sorry in the title, I meant to say "PRIVATE SELLER" instead of used seller. Sorry.
