Replace a high miles car with new engine? Im looking at this 2001 audi A4 1.8 T car for sale. It has 108000 miles on it. But the owner had the engine replaced by an audi dealership last year because it had a recall problem. Transmission is still there, its a manual. The question is, is the car good as new since the engine has been replaced??

How to destroy an car engine? So my parents said once my car goes to shit they'll buy me a new one. My car is a 1991 and is almost done anyways. Currently there is a car for sale super cheap and 8 years older than mine. They agreed it was a great price and a good car. How would I destroy the engine to my car so that it won't work? Is there anyway that it couldn't be found out either? - thanks
How many MPG does the 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi Awd get? My car broke down, and a friend of ours has this car for sale with new engine and everything pretty much new (in Excellent condition)... How many MPG can this car get in the city/highway? PS - It is turbo and 5 speed, all wheel drive.
Femail buying a new car in a male dominated sales market? Hi I am buying a new car, I know the type I want & spending quite a lot of hard earned money too, but in one showroom I visited the sales guy practically ignored me, was condescending towards me and spoke directly to my dad even though Im the one paying for it and Im an adult. Another place I went the only question I was asked was what colour would I like nothing about engine size or any similar particulars. I finally ordered the car from somewhere else and they told me to pick it up today HOWEVER I called only to find out its not there yet. Nobody was even going to call me to let me know! With salespeople reluctant to give me the cars technical specs, warrenty information unless I really push for it and treating me so badly I am beginning to wonder is it because Im femail or is it just bad salesmen? My brother never had this problem. Has anyone got any advice on the best way to approach buying a car as a femail in this male dominated world of car sales....? Thank you for all your really helpful answers, I really really appreciate it. Lots to consider when I visit again. x To the guy who corrected my spelling....It must be awesome being as perfect as you, Its a spelling mistake - get over it

Getting a new (to me) used car - help!? I've been trying to get a new car and I've been doing research on several different cars. Here's my problem, I'm trying to get something *relatively* inexpensive (up to $5K), low miles (preferably lower than 150K), reliable and somewhat newer (LESS than 10 years old), with a clean title and preferably a manual. That being said, I know hondas last forever but I don't want to get a 1996 Honda civic - 15 years is just too old. I've looked on craigslist (at both for sale by owners and for sale by dealers) but I'm having some trouble. I've found some appealing cars - like an 2005 Kia Rio for $3800. But I read that some Kia's have issues with the timing belt breaking while driving and thus requiring a new engine. I'm looking at smaller sedan/coupes, like the kia rio, spectra, honda civic, accord, etc. I'm a little weary of kia's, though, because it looks like lots of people are having the timing belt problem. My brother, however, just bought a used kia spectra and his seems to be working fine. I would prefer a Honda because they really do last forever lol. Anyway, the honda's in my price range are all well over 10 years old. When I find one that isn't, it's got a reconstructed/salvage title, driven hard, high miles, etc. Are these good deals? I'll post the links of some of the cars I've found on Craigslist: http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/ctd/2490224771.html http://salem.craigslist.org/ctd/2465065074.html http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/2498867934.html Like I said, I would really like a honda but I've been car shopping for over a month and just can't get a good deal on really any car. @Ben, whats the oldest honda/toyota you've owned and how many miles? I've found plenty of honda's with low miles, but they all seem to be civics from the 90's and they have plenty of after market parts; although this is cool, it tells me they've probably raced their car and the "low" miles (80K +) were driven hard - I don't want to spend 5K on a 1998 civic and then have to replace the tranny. Like wise, I've found good prices on 98-2001 civics with reconstructed/salvage titles. I don't want to get one without a clean title because I don't want there to be problem in the future due to something that wasn't done properly. By any chance, do you (or anyone) understand what a reconstructed or salvage title mean in Oregon/washington (it varies state to state I was told - but don't know for sure). If it's something like I got into a fender bender because I was rear ended and had to replace my rear fender - would that be reconstructed because the back was "reconstructed"? And for salvage,
When does the sale of a new vehicle become final? Pay close attention, this is not a joke! I bought a brand new car for $35,000, test drove the car, and signed all the paperwork. Before I drove the car off the lot, the check engine light came on. I immediately took the car to the service / sales department and demanded an answer. After getting into an argument with the General Manager of the dealership he said he was going to rip up the paperwork, that the deal was off. The repair was minor, so I wanted to keep the car. I still have all the signed paperwork, so I'm confused how the general manager can do that. When exactly does the ownership of the vehicle transfer from the dealership to the consumer? Also note, I was approved and signed all the financing agreements, paid a $500 down payment, and signed over the title of my trade. Where do I stand? Thanks in advance for the advice. Thanks for the answers. This is the actual events precisely as they unfolded, and although I wish there were more to the story, this is it. I understand consumers only go to complain, but that isn't my intent. The intention of this post is only informative. If I intended to complain, then I wouldn't have posted it in Yahoo answers. Unfortunately the best answer was probably the least liked :-). Anyway, thank you very much for your honest answers.
Can I put a new engine into a 1978 Honda Civic? I really love the exterior of this used 1978 Honda Civic that's for sale, but of course I worry about driving with such an old engine. Can I have a newer engine put into the car? How much does that normally cost?
bought a car private sale what are my rights? A car was listed as perfect condition with new engine no problems. it was paid for and delivered by a private dealer less than a week after it was delivered it died and the engine is dead. is there anything i can do? he obviously lied about the condition of the vehicle and it seems like there should be something that protects the buyer. i dont need dumb comments or rude remarks i need serious answers only. thank you heres the kicker, we took it to a mechanic-and he said yea its perfect great buy- found out AFTER we paid that this guy was friends with the guy who was selling it and getting 1/2 the money...we picked hte mechanic just a small small area with limited places to go. we got F'd
Selling a car with a new engine, not reflected on logbook? I run a "for sale" group on Facebook. A seller is trying to sell a Ford Fiesta LX but states that he has put a Zetec sport engine in. He states that the logbook still says LX and that the MOT expires in October. I am slightly concerned that this may be illegal. Presumably the current MOT was valid for the previous engine model. Also, would a person be insured to drive it like this? What potential problems would a purchaser run into when trying to get the car MOT'd again? Any advice would be appreciated before I contact the seller. Thank you
oil cap off on new car? My friend bought a new car a month or so ago and hold me she had noticed it was leaking oil the past few days. I thought that was strange so I went out to check the car and there was oil dripping off under the bumper. popped the hood and there was oil everywhere, and the oil cap was off, wedged somewhere in the engine bay! there still seemed to be a decent amount of oil in the engine. She hasn't even opened the hood since she bought the car. Do dealers change or otherwise take the oil cap off the car when they prep the car for a sale? I wouldn't think so but can't make sense of it otherwise. How long would it take would it take for a noticeable amount of oil to leak out of an engine without the oil cap? I would think just minutes, but it has been a month! Could the cap have been loose and slowly come undone? Could it have been loose from the factory? The only other possibility I can think of is someone sabotaged it.
How much should I sale my car for? I have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid and the engine is bad on it but the transmission is still good and the interior and exterior are in really good condition. I have some new parts on it that are less than a year old, including brakes (a month), water pump (a week or so), a rotor (a month), thermostat (3 months), neutral safety switch (almost a year) and cam sensor (2 months). Was wondering what would be a reasonable price to ask for it?
I sold a car in a private sale not even a week later the car broke on the buyer now she wants a refund? sold my car last week to a couple not even a week later they say it is overheating and gonna cost $3000 for a new engine. They called and said they wanted back there money i simply told them that it is there property and also said that it was running fine when they bought it. I did Tell them when they bought it that i was aware of no problems at all. They test drove it checked out everything on it and bought it.I did offer to have it fixed for them but they just do not trust me or my mechanic. So I gave up and told them to take me to small claims court I was never once mean with them. So my question is would you think they have a chance in small claims court. Also I did not state AS IS on the bill of sale
Can the Obamabots now admit that "Cash for Clunkers" was a failure? http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703628304574453280766443704.html?mod=wsj_share_facebook Remember "cash for clunkers," the program that subsidized Americans to the tune of nearly $3 billion to buy a new car and destroy an old one? Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood declared in August that, "This is the one stimulus program that seems to be working better than just about any other program." If that's true, heaven help the other programs. Last week U.S. automakers reported that new car sales for September, the first month since the clunker program expired, sank by 25% from a year earlier. Sales at GM and Chrysler fell by 45% and 42%, respectively. Ford was down about 5%. Some 700,000 cars were sold in the summer under the program as buyers received up to $4,500 to buy a new car they would probably have purchased anyway, so all the program seems to have done is steal those sales from the future. Exactly as critics predicted. Cash for clunkers had two objectives: help the environment by increasing fuel efficiency, and boost car sales to help Detroit and the economy. It achieved neither. According to Hudson Institute economist Irwin Stelzer, at best "the reduction in gasoline consumption will cut our oil consumption by 0.2 percent per year, or less than a single day's gasoline use." Burton Abrams and George Parsons of the University of Delaware added up the total benefits from reduced gas consumption, environmental improvements and the benefit to car buyers and companies, minus the overall cost of cash for clunkers, and found a net cost of roughly $2,000 per vehicle. Rather than stimulating the economy, the program made the nation as a whole $1.4 billion poorer. The basic fallacy of cash for clunkers is that you can somehow create wealth by destroying existing assets that are still productive, in this case cars that still work. Under the program, auto dealers were required to destroy the car engines of trade-ins with a sodium silicate solution, then smash them and send them to the junk yard. As the journalist Henry Hazlitt wrote in his classic, "Economics in One Lesson," you can't raise living standards by breaking windows so some people can get jobs repairing them. In the category of all-time dumb ideas, cash for clunkers rivals the New Deal brainstorm to slaughter pigs to raise pork prices. The people who really belong in the junk yard are the wizards in Washington who peddled this economic malarkey.
Rights regarding a private car sale...? (UK)? OK so long story short we bought a brilliant little car for our family from what we thought was a woman who could be trusted. Then the gears packed in 2 hours after getting it. We have been told that this is due to long periods of bad driving and will cost £350 maybe more to fix. She obviously knew they were knackered.. the mechanic says there's no way she could not have known. The car had a full service history until it came into her hands but the mechanic says its likely she's had a service held back her part of the service history. There is also a "red key" missing, which is seemingly vital as without it we can't even get a new battery and the car's maker will have to issue a new one meaning locks and engine management system will have to be changed. This will cost a grand sum of £800 at least £1200 at most. Do we have any right to ask her to foot the bill for new gears? Or even more important to pay for the red key? as we've been told that the car is only worth its scrap value without this key so she's done us over. Thanks for your replies. It's a wonderful little car other than those problems and we've literally just found out that there's a way round the red key problem only costing £50 maybe my boyfriend just has to stiffen the upper lip lol. Thanks for making that clear though. We had a feeling we had no rights with it being private
Link that takes surfers first to my page then to final destination (web design)? I have several cars for sale. But I want to sell the cars on a popular car website. So when people use a search engine, and my cars come up, when the user clicks I first want them to go to my webpage (for a split second, hopefully not even seeing my webpage) then I want them to ultimately end up at the popular car sales website. Why: Because once my ads on the popular car sales website end, I want the same search engines to refer users (when they click) to the next car sales website that I advertise on. SUMMARY User types in Altavista.com "Buy his cars". 2. They click on the link and seem to go straight to Car Sales Site 1 (But they actually briefly go to my own website first). 3) The following month I advertise on another Car Sales Website 2. 4) But the same original search engine string should work, but this time take people to the New Car Sales website. I do have a concern though, could this negatively impact my search engine ranking, webcrawlers, etc? I would hate for this strategy to lead to my loosing potential search engine ranking, etc. Thanks and I hope I was clear enough above, those of you that know this stuff better than I could probably summarize it, using the appropriate Acronyms, computer lingo, in 3 sentences. Thanks again.
I bought a new/used car have 30 days to decide if want on my 24th day the engine blew I have warranty do I pay? While being towed I found out that it is still under warranty. Also today I got in mail a letter that said that my extended power train 100k mile warranty is almost expired. I just need to know what leg do I have to stand on? I don't think that I should have to pay anything out of pocket? But don't know? I please need to know if my warranty is real and shouldn't they py for the repairs? The letter I received said that I am covered bumper to bumper including engine, breaks, transmission, and more along with roadside, rental car and more? I just do not want to get the rug pulled over my head by shady used car salesmen! I asked for a car-fax when bought and they gave me the one from the car I traded in but how convent for them not for my new car. Found out was in accident. I hate to say this but I am a women and I feel like they saw me coming! Is there some sort of law that helps people like me? They said would cover but the way mu luck is they will most likely wait till my warranty expires! What can I do to have the upper hand? And when I was singing papers I was caught up in the moment the knew that The sale price was 18k and the sale price was 14k but when I looked at the bottom line the total was 18k + Is that false advertisement? My fault I have never bought a car before and now I know why used car salesmen have the reputation that they have! My payments went from $300mt to $500 a month! Help I am so dumb but this is so wrong! I know I should of just walked away but I was so overwhelmed at the time. I hate to say it but I am a women and they saw me coming! The letter I got in mail said that my extended warranty is almost up, but they were closed when I got home. As soon as they open I will be calling them. The dealer said it is covered, but I want proof! I have been online all night researching the lemon law. I found out now that there was a recall on the car also! Before I bought and nowhere did I find any information on a recall! Thank you so much for you help and answers. You were very helpful. If you can think of anything else please and thank you!
I sold a car, now buyer wants to return. no bill of sale! (private sale)? First of all, I am a foreign student in US, so I don't know motor vehicle regulations very well here. If my questions looks silly, accept my apologies in advance. Recently a car hit my 2000 Ford Taurus from behind. The bumper is cracked and the trunk lid is bent which prevented the trunk from getting locked. Even though the accident didn't cause any mechanical damage, I was suffering from lots of other mechanical problems even before the accident. (leaking coolant, constant engine light which occasionally flashes, gray smoke coming out of muffler) Anyways, I received good money from the other party's insurance company and bought a new car. Then, I decided to get rid of my Taurus for a cheap price on Craig's List. Someone came to see the car. I explained him all the problems. I told him that I was using the car by adding coolant in every two weeks even before the accident. I told him about the engine light and gray smoke. He said that the engine light was most probably because of blown headgasket and it would decrease the value of the car considerably. Since I didn't know much about the cars, I didn't even argue on anything. He test drove the car and finally he said that he could repair and sell the car, and make some money out of it if I would sell it for a reasonable price. Finally, we settled down for $720. I received the money in cash. I signed the title and NY State DMV DTF-802 Statement of Transaction form (i don't have a copy of it unfortunately) , and gave them to him. We didn't sign any "bill of sale" agreement. I returned my plates and removed the car from my insurance policy in the next morning. Later afternoon, he called me and wanted to return the car because of the overheating problem. Since while selling the car I told him that coolant was leaking and he needed to fill it up every two weeks ( which i did in a whole year), I refused to take it back. Besides, i didn't want to take back the car since i didn't have plates and insurance on that car anymore. He still claims I misled him while selling the car, which is not true at all! He said he would sue me if i didn't accept the return. I'm super stressed after my conversation with him since this is the first time that I sold a car and i don't have any proof of transaction or "bill of sale" that proves that I sell the car "as is". I didn't even know this guy's last name! (He even refused to give me his full name on the phone.) Do I have to worry since I don't have a copy of Statement of Transaction form that I signed. As I said I already signed and gave the title, surrendered the plates and removed the car from my insurance policy. Do I still have any responsibility on that car? If he involves in some kind of illegal action with this car, can i be held responsible for it? Thanks for all answers in advance... I signed the title and filled all fields related with me, but I didn't see him while signing the title. So, I don't know whether he has his signature on it right now. I surrounded the plates, so my plates are not on the car anymore. I never gave him a warranty (written or verbal).
The new car I'm looking at.....? Is it a good buy? 1996 Ford Probe GT, V6 2.5L engine rebuilt with approximately 11,000 miles on the engine after rebuild. 203k miles. Manual 5-speed shifter on the floor. Transmission works great, no problems. New air conditioning pump/system put in with rebuild, needs check and coolant, but works great. power windows. Power sliding sun roof, tilt wheel, cruise control but don't know if it works as I've never used the cruise control?, AM/FM radio with CD player, has remote, dual air bags, leather seats, allow wheels - special tires in excellent shape, special one of a kind exterior custom paint jobs. Windshield is cracked, but has been for 5 years and passes inspection fine as it's not in the line of sight for the driver (it's lower). Car runs great, great power and pick up. Attention getter, and unbelievable 'wow' appeal. Been holding on to this car for the past few years as it used to belong to my brother, but just isn't practical to keep - I need to go ahead and let this car go, so have changed the price to $2000. My brother took this car back and forth the country (SC to MO and back) many times with no problems, and he owned it for years. He finally did the engine rebuild after it reached about 190k miles just cuz he figured it was time rather than wait for problems. He finally got rid of it because he outgrew his 'rebel' stage - (the paint job) - he did the paint job himself after getting the car. He painted his motorcycle to match, and his helmet - and he even found a 'rebel' jacket and coat to match. He was quite the character in his youth. When he finally decided to sell the car my middle son couldn't stand the thought of Uncle Ronnie's car being gone, so he bought it - but my son ran into a couple glitches that made him crazy - one being he was heavy footed and got a couple tickets, but the other was that it kept stalling out on him and he couldn't figure what was the matter? So I bought the car from him - still not wanting to let go of my brother's car..... and it sat parked for a few months till I had the money to take it to a professional shop in St. Louis - they discovered a sensor error caused because my brother took the catalytic converter off to give the car more power - so I had a new catalytic converter put on as well as the sensor replaced - no more stalling! Woohooo! Then there was a problem with the battery, but it was just an old battery, so got a new battery July 2009. I really thought I'd drive the car more, but having it titled, licensed, and insured the past two years, I've rarely even driven it once a month. I finally have to admit that it's rediculous to hold on to, even for the memories, that's why it's for sale. We did go to start it the other day, and the battery was dead, but the car has been sitting for months (through the winter) - so we charged it and it started up, but if being dead through part of the winter damaged the battery at all - it's got a full no-cost replacement at any Walmart till July 2011. - and the only other thing I know is that my brother changed over the air conditioner to the new system, and it has a new compressor, but it was winter time when he did it, and then he sold the car so he forgot to check the system for seals/leaks - and while it does work wonderfully, it does seem to have a leak so needs serviced to find and seal the leak. I've never been one to worry with AC, so I just open the windows and sun roof it I drive it in the summer. That's honestly the ONLY things (besides the cracked windshield mentioned in the ad - that passes inspection) that I know is wrong with the car. It's truly a wonderful buy at $2000, and I figure if I don't get that, I'll just put it into the back shed when it's finished and leave it parked for a few years, and then the value will increase from it's age and condition as it'll be past the 20 year mark and still fully functional! Then I can license it as a historic vehicle. Back seat in like new condition as it rarely had back seat passengers. Has dragon floor pads in front, dragon decal on back lift window. - also remember that when I replaced the battery in July 09, I also had to replace the alternator as it has a couple bad cells - which the man said probably contributed to the battery having problems. Will try to think if there's any other work done, but just now, I think I have it all mentioned somewhere in this page. I'm just trying to be honest and open, and you'll know you're interested in the car before even asking to come see it. Just don't have enough spare time to worry with gawkers.
Private Car Sale Help Needed? My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: PA Hello! I am having an issue with a car i privately sold. I am younger(23) and this is the first car i have ever had in my name and sold by myself. So please excuse my inexperience I sold my 94 Honda Civic with 126,xxx miles on 9/26/08 for $1900. I listed it on craigslist and sold it privately. Before the buyer came to see the car he wanted to "trade me cars for a day" so he can drive is all the way back to Ohio to get his mechanic to inspect it, I did not allow this because i would not be comfortable doing this with a total stranger. The buyer then came to my house with his friend to test drive the car. We discussed the two issues i knew was wrong with the car(tailpipe and front brakes) and he had no problem with them. After the test drive he was extremely please and purchased the car. During this time, I had him sign a bill of sale that i printed off the internet which clearly states "sold as is". He also got a copy. I was contacted on 10/7/08 (almost two weeks later) with an email saying that if i dont buy the car back and also pay for the repairs he had done then I will be hearing from his lawyer. I very professionally explained to him that I have my Bill of Sale and that I can not help him because I have no idea how he treated/used the car during these past two weeks. Nothing was said after this. Well today i received my court date. He claims I fraudulently misrepresented the condition of the vehicle and under the PA Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law I now owe him $3200 dollars for the vehicle and all the repairs. These repairs include transmission(did not give details at what parts of the tranny were wrong),leaking gas tank, distributor, and speedometer head. None of these were wrong when I owned the car. I drove this car daily until the day i sold it. So now he claims that since the speedometer is broken that I scammed him because he will never know the actual mileage. This is my craigslist listing. 1994 Honda Civic LX 5 Speed Manuel 126,xxx miles Clean title. Blue Exterior/Grey Interior with minor wear and tear on both. The 1.5 engine runs very well and the transmission shifts flawlessly. Comes with ice cold A/C, cassette player, cruise control, power windows/mirrors/locks. Everything works as it should. I also had a hitch attached that is included. Brand new starter, rear brakes, alternator and belts within the past year. Tires still have good life left in them. Inspected into next year. Amazing on gas(I have hit 350mi on a tank). It has been my daily driver and extremely dependable. NEVER MODDED in any way. There is a pinhole sized exhaust leak near the muffler and the front brakes will eventually need done but still have some life. Email me if you would like more pictures. Now I believe I am %99 safe in this case due to my bill of sale and the "as-is". There is no way he can prove that I fraudulently sold him this vehicle because I myself did not have these problems. I post here to see if there is any loopholes you guys could think of. Would you guys get a lawyer in my situation? Can I counter-sue for loss of work(I have to miss a day for court) and/or a false claim? Let me know if you need anymore info or have questions for me! Thank you for reading! Thank you for the advice! This makes me feel alot better about the situation! Going to court for your first time is stressful especially if its your first time :)

How much should I advertise a car that i have for sale? The car is a 2002 ford focus se model. It has 83000 miles on the engine and the exterior is in pretty good shape.....no major scratches or dents. The interior is close to spotless and all it really needs is a good car wash. The title is a rebuilt which I assume lowers the value of the car. I got it as a gift from a cousin of mine. She recently purchased a new car and didn't have any use for the ford focus. Does any have a value book that can possibly give me an idea to how much I could sell it for.
I need to find a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro engine!? I live in St. Petersburg FL and our Camaro needs a new engine. I have looked but I can't really find any engines for sale. My dad says we might have to sell the car (for like $100) . I really don't want to sell the car, it's pretty awesome and everyone likes it. Its a 1986 Camaro IROC-Z. It has a V6 engine currently. I already tried google but I can't find anything. Nevermind, it doesn't have a V6.
Why would the check engine light be on after engine replacement? I don't know anything about the car, it's for sale but it has a new engine. Why is the engine light on? The person selling for a friend said it was because of a sensor problem. It's such a pretty BMW....:-( talon699, you gave me a laugh, because I know what you said is true but I don't want to believe it. Well, don't buy it until fixed or until you know what the problem is. Eddie, I'm totally listening to this advice.

Private Car Sale Responsibility's ? I live in the state of Indiana. I used 1997 Saturn SL2 today for 1000 dollars. I told them there were a few things wrong with the car, as well as some brand new parts I replaced on it. There was a check engine light on, had been on for the two years I owned it but it was nothing serious (unaware of exact cause). They bought the car i signed the title to them and they signed it as well. Three hours later they come back they came back with an older woman. The starter had gone out while they were "at the car wash". Altho I felt bad it was a freak accident no way I could have predicted that. They test drove it several times and it started just fine. Now the older woman that came back with them is threatening me with a lawsuit for not disclosing the starter, and a couple squeaks the car makes. Says didn't disclose it that it was negligence. Can she do this ? I pretty much understood it was as is, I'm leasing a used truck and the starter went out on my way to a concert. They didn't pay for anything as there are not even lemon laws in Indiana. I do feel bad I told them as much as I knew. I am not a mechanic I just have a bit of knowledge on replacing parts not diagnosing problems so how can I disclose every single detail. Well In fact I did offer her $150.00 back to pay for the starter plus $20 extra. On the phone she agreed and came over. When she got here she started asking me for more money. That's when I drew the line I told her either take the 150 I was offering or enjoy the car. She left without taking it. The only thing is I remembered when I sold it I was trying to be nice and let them decide how much to write on the title for the sales price. If they haven't yet can they use that to get a refund ?
UK QUESTION: how to write a for sale advert for CAT C car easy repair? i have a 1999 ford escort 1.6 petrol with MOT and TAX, CAT C, Easy Repair. this is the problem i have: i bought a ford escort on 01/06/2009 for the sum of £550. the escort had a valid tax but not MOT. for the new MOT, the escort had a exhaust gasket, exhaust clamp, exhaust central pipe silencer and exhaust rear pipe silencer a brand new windscreen installed. total spent on MOT £320. on 17/07/2009, the escort went a full service: air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, spark plugs, wiper blades, engine oil, brake pads, both rear brake cylinders, timing belt, water pump, both offside/near headlamps and both front/rear new number plates done. total spent on full service £300. unfortunately, on 15 sep 09, my vehicle had a side slight collision on the rear offside/driver side, which resulted in an insurance claim. the rear offside bumper has fell of after the accident. and the bumper suffered a few minor scratches. I was told my vehicle would be in for repairs for about 3/4 days but my vehicle was returned to me as total loss, CAT C. since 22 sep 09, the car has been parked out side my house. the tax is due to expire on the 31/03/2010. the MOT expires in june 2010, so i need the car gone before this! no time wasters please. i need the space as just got a new car. any advice on how to start the advert and explain the above in a high English language? any comments/advice welcome.
A car I sold, blew up on the buyer a few days later.? I sold my 73 bug to buyer a few weeks ago. In my for sale add, I said to take to a mechanic or bring to a mechanic. The buyer drove the car around the block and after that purchased the vehicle. He called me a a few days later and stated the cars engine had a loud knocking noise and that the engine eventually blew. He wants me to help out or split the cost of a new engine which is $2000. I was asking $2700 for the car and sold it to him for $2100 because I needed the money for school and a credit card bill. I REALLY feel for the guy and I feel terrible that it happened but half of me feels like I shouldn't need to pay because he did not take it to a mechanic nor did he test drive it for more than 2 min before his purchase, and I knocked off over $600. I'm an honest guy and am in a HUGE moral dilemma because I do not have the extra funds to dump that kind of money into a car I already lost $600 on. I just need some advice please.
Audi A3 (Brand New) Car on order question? Ordered a Audi a3 1.6 Diesel sportback 5dr on 23rd of November...just a few questions. This is ideal for me at the moment I know some people may think im stupid on getting a brand new or may of been better of getting a bigger engine....But ordered this on November 23rd 2010 and said be ready late March but sometimes they come a little quicker. The reason why Im getting a factory order for is because Im getting a few extras instead of basic factory build which he had in stock. However the sales guy phoned me the other day saying oh great news....maybe to some interest to you I have one available on a cancel order which had everything that I have on order but its blue (ordered black) so I said I will go up and have Al ok at it in person has had my heart set on Black but if blue meant I could get it before Christmas then great. So I wait for a call back of him...and he said oh....I've made a mistake its only 3door not 5....(after stating 3times hes confirmed that its everything I wanted Model, engine, extras, doors etc...) then said It be late April/May. Which I find this a bit odd....Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on orders with new cars or audi etc...and if ordered a new car with audi how long did it take. The extras that I've got ain't massive just things like rear parking sensors and one or 2 others....
how do you know if a used car for sale has a major problem the owner is trying to hide? I currently own an 89 chevy 1500 (full size truck). It runs great and I've heard you can put hundreds of thousands of miles on these if you take care of them. My intention has always been to drive it into the ground but lately gas milage has really been an issue for me. I do a fair amount of highway driving as well as night driving on roads where I time all the lights (so it's like highway driving as far as gas milage). My truck gets 16 mpg city and 17 or 18 highway... What kind of used car could make it worth my while to let go of the truck? How do I know if a car will be reliable? I suppose there is always risk but I wonder if someone knows some tricks or ideas? I know if there is new oil in the engine that can be a bad sign that they are trying to hide that the oil/antifreeze mixes... looking for more tips I can use.
Can I sue a private car owner for selling me a lemon with no bill of sale and paid in cash.? I didn't test drive the car myself because the owner said, there are no tags on the car, so I let him drive. Trust, can make you so STUPID!! When I drove the car off of his property the oil light came on. I called him back and asked him what was the deal and he said, I told you that I've never had a problem with this car, put some oil in it and if you still have problems call me back and I will handle it but I never had any problems with the car we just got a new car and we are not using it." So, being trusting I went on and the next day the engine light came on. I took it to a professional mechanic and they told me the engine was blown. What can I do
Can I sue someone for selling me a car with a bad engine? I live in NY and I drew up a sales contract stating verbatum " I ms jane doe give mrs. jane doe 3 business days to have her mechanic look over said vehicle. If there is any motor, electrical or structural repairs needed to the vehicle over $500.00 I will refund $1100.00 by Wed March 24" Well needless to say Wed morning my mechanic called me after having the car for two days and asked me to come down to the shop. He had noticed that when the engine got hot the oil pressure dropped to zero while in idle. I was told that is caused by worn bearings and or the crank shaft and it would basically cost the same to repair as it would to drop a new engine in the car. OF COURSE I called her immediately after talking to the mechanic told her I was bringing the car back and would like cash not a check since I paid in cash. Needless to say she is telling me that its my fault and I did it etc blahblahblah go ahead sue me I will have 5 mechanics show up saying it was fine when I sold it to you etc yadda yadda. Well about 8 hours later she was saying how she would give me $400 back and hook me up with someone that could put the engine in cheap. B>S> not happening..... My question....If I go ahead and drop a new engine can I sue her for 1/2 the repairs? And have a shot winning..... My evidence: *video of the time lapse it takes to engine to get hot *statement from my mechanic with his findings *statement from a major jeep dealership mechanics diagnostic (saying same thing as my mechanic) *statements from autozone (i know not dep but that was my first stop when i was headed to the dealership just wanted someones opinion after my mechanics) *5 signed original copies of not only a sales agreement but also a bill of sale w/ exact verbatum of her agreeing and if she disagreed she would concent to all costs etc for being sued *3 estimates of the cost/parts that the jeep needed *All of my texts asking for my money and all of her texts ranging from it was my fault and fk off, to she would give me 400 back and take the jeep, then she would give me $200 and keep the jeep, then the final one at $400 back and I can keep the jeep
New car buyer HELP!!!? Ok people im going to get straight to the point, I'm in the market of buying a fairly good used vehicle most likely an Infiniti G35 05-06 or Infiniti FX 05-06. I make $2,000.00 monthly and have about 900 dollars for a car not and insurance, plus I am married so abruptly we bring in about $4k a month. My question is how do I go about in the best way to get a deal, online or in person? I know everything about these vehicles from the exterior to the interior and engine since they are similarly the same. I was looking for a way to finance a 94-98 TT Supra but since they are so old it’s really hard to finance them so I need to search for something else unless my mother or grandma with good credit history can finance for me. I have a 2003 Nissan altima 2.5s with 110,607 miles on it for a trade in or to sale, which used to be my mothers but she could not take care of the payments so I took over them without any paper worked changed, its valued at around $3,800.00 and is paid off. I’m only 22 years old and have fairly ok credit around 600 but I just started working for the IRS through a tax appraisal company about a month ago and it requires a lot of traveling and I’m wanting to get a great vehicle that will last me the next 6-8 years. I have $2800.00 for a down payment and also the 03 Altima for a trade in. On top of that I need to get a car a.s.a.p. because my wife is going back to college this coming up semester, I really want the supra cause I know more about that vehicle than any other car out their but I gotta be real with myself and get something I can actually get. I really do deserve a nice vehicle and am still hoping I can get that TT MK4 supra. I need some really great honest answers peoples? Oh yeah one more question if my wife has gotten a car before and got it repoed and just got another one last year would it be best to finance under her name or my name ( she is in debt about 24k and I was surprised she was able to get a vehicle. I am helping her pay for her loans since she is my wife and we are settling the loan's with them and I think that was the only way my wife was able to get a vehicle. THANKS GUYS HELP ME OUT WITH UR OPINIONS :D
i bought a brand new car 2 weeks ago from the dealership, and now find out it's not brand new...? when i boght it we noticed a bubble in the paint so the dealership agreed to re paint the door, this was already a bummer but we delt with it, today i went and got my car and on my way home i realized the carpet seemed loose. it appears that the drive shaft was replaced .. the plastic part between the engine and carpet had cut out partialy the carpet was cut very crappily, and there was a hole going straight into the engine, can i still return the car? am i covered under lemon law? obviously something was replaced, the car had 50 miles on it when i bought it, 30 of those was me and my sales manager test driving it! did i mention my car had 160 miled on it when i took it back for the paint job, and 260 when i picked it up today?! The car was bought in michigan, im not sure the drive shaft was replaced but definatly seems like it was, unfortunatly i didn't realiza the problem till i got home at 10:00 pm, they arn't open. i plan on calling tomorrow morning, should i call the sales person who sold me the car first? the rubber cap your talking about is not there and there a is a box cut around the hole, well, with the hole at the top of the box. It's clear it was cut. its a Dode Avenger
Is $80 a barrel oil in direct proportion to the car which run on air? Compress air hard enough and it will ignite. Sorry republicans, These cars are being released for public sale in August 2008. *sniff* there goes your oil monopoly. *sniff* "Some 6000 zero-emissions Air Cars are scheduled to hit Indian streets in August of 2008." http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/new_cars/4217016.html http://freeenergynews.com/Directory/CompressedAir/index.html http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&q=compressed+air+engine&btnG=Google+Search
Questions on Buying a Car? I am planning on buying a 2001 Chrysler Sebring from a small, but luxury car dealer in the city. (Not too small, i'd say mid-sized that typically deal in Audi, Jaguars, and most of their inventory is over $30,000 though I know this does not mean much. The car has around 50,000 miles. I am planning on buying this Sebring from them for around $11,000. They offer a warranty that is through some cheap sounding warranty company "Preferred Warranties INC" or something, but it is expensive and I only have a maximum amount I can afford right now but REALLY Want this car and there arent any others like this around in inventories.. (Sales tax is EXPENSIVE adding up to almost 1000+ here, and the car total would be about $14,500 or something after sales tax and warranty if I did get the warranty) Do I REALLY Need the warranty, and if worst comes to worst down the road what is the most i'd be paying to fix the car? ($3000 for a new engine, $1600 for transmission?) ALSO I checked the history through Carfax and it was a Corporate Lease Vehicle owned by the same company for 5 years, driven only about 9000 miles a year it looks like. Then it went on auction in 2006 and appeared at dealer 1 month later. Am I likely to have less problems with it, and is this a good ownership history? IT looks like the electrical system was "serviced" 2 times, and the air condition once but not sure what that means on Carfax I must have got lucky because I owned a Chrysler Sebring Convertible for 2 years that was 3 or 4 years old when I got it and NEVER ever had any problem with it, and I did not take care of it like I should have...
Recommend me a car for commuting: Yaris, Fiesta, Clio? Hi guys. I need to buy a car for commuting 130 miles a day return so it must be economical and most importantly reliable. I cannot afford a new car I'm afraid so I'm limited to 4k. What do you make of a Toyota Yaris 2002, Ford Fiesta 1.4 2003 or Clio 2002? All with a diesel engine of course. Any other recommendation will be much appreciated. If you have experience on these cars please share! If you are a car dealer / car sales person / mechanic / know a lot about cars please also do share your thoughts! Help me to decide, I know almost nothing about cars. All I know is that a Clio could be cheap to buy but they break easily. A fiesta is easy to maintain. Toyota is great for reliability and the yaris gives 60+mpg but would you commute every day for 2 hrs in a Yaris? Clio? Fiesta? HEEEEEEEEEEELP!!! Cheers Edgar Cars in the UK by the way.
How much do you think i can sale my car for ? ill try and tell you every thing that i know about it. i got a chrysler sebring convertible 1999 gold on the out side black top 6 cillinde engine for 2800 two brand new speakers for 600 brand new radio for 600 new windshield wiper for 40 the top looks a little old up close but still works just fine new transmission i dont know how much that was i think 800 and new spark plugs for 20 it has 118,000 miles on it right now no rust and has a few scratches on the back check engine light is on and the transmission is slipping where when you push on the gas and it does not move thats all i can think of for now ill add more if i think of any thing elas. i hate my car so much right now i really want to get rid of it it my first car and ive only had it for about 8 months hope to get more for what i paid for it like 3400 would be nice any thing less im taking my radio with me so whats the highest i can get for it and what is the lowest ? it still moves and gets me where i need to go runs fine but the transmission does slip.
What do you look for when you buy a used car? Is low mileage better then the newness of the car? For instance is it better to buy a 1994 toyota with 85,000 miles or a 1999 toyota with 140 thousand miles? Does it really matter on a used car how many perks it has if the miles are very high. We will buy the car and probably drive it till its ready for the junk yard. People put things in their adds which talk about the Stereo, heated seats and all kinds of crap, but does that matter in the price of a car which has 160 thousand miles on it if the engine and transmission is 160 thousand miles old Help, I am new at this and need to buy a car for my son to get to college. I am surprised at the amount people are asking for cars in the sales adds such as $6000. for a car with 160,000 miles. Isnt that car pretty much getting ready to be in its last leg. I notice they stay in the paper for days because no one buys them.
Is the Lincoln 98 Town car worth buying? Hi, I just hope someone helps me out to make this decision. There is a nice Lincoln 1998 town car for sale, the car has a lot of work done - '98 Continental has had a lot of work done, including, new steering, front brakes, wheel bearings, window regulator, tires replaced, rotated & balanced, tune-up, complete service, check up & a full detail. the dealer said it is Mechanically extremely solid. Engine & transmission are super strong. Is it worth buying this car, the car really looks great? what about the future maintenance of this car? is it very expensive?
What is the process for getting a classic car titled and registered in GA? While I was home on leave last year I purchased a '66 Buick Riviera. I'd like to finally get the car titled and registered so I can drive it. Here's my issue: I purchased the car from a lawyer in CT. He provided me with a notorized bill of sale from me to him, a notorized bill of sale from the previous owner to himself, and the original title from the original owner to man #2. The problem is that the title was never transfered. At some point the car was sold AS-IS for parts or restoration. (IE Non-running/drivable). The man I purchased the car from had a new engine and transmission installed to make the vehicle operational. I trailered the car from CT to GA and now I'd like to be able title it in my name. I have a definitve paper trail from owner to owner, each step notorized. I currently have insurance on the vehicle, even though it doesn't leave my driveway. I have no way to contact the previous owners. The only person I'm in contact with is the lawyer in CT.

Salling car with out Title being on you name? I bought car from online auction called Ride Safely, auction stated that car runs and drives I paid with transport around$4000. When I got car two days later engine blow big hole on side and I needed new engine. After visiting couple shops I find out that it will cost another $4000 just to fix this car, so I put it on e-bay and soled it for $1600 but that is not my real problem, real problem comes now. Three month later buyer that I sold car to is calling me and saying he fixed the car but can’t register, because title is not on my name, in state that I live in NY you have to register car to get title I never register car and title is still in ride safely name, I do have bill of sale from them that I purchased car from them. To be even worst I sold the car in different state, so now I don’t know what to do.

found a car for sale, has been parked for 7 years, how do i recover it safely? ok,its a truck, it has a police engine, im trying to get it running good enough to drive 100 miles.... to park it and finalize the work to keep it running... 1973 CA smog exempt dodge, 318 w/ interceptor, rebuilt rear end, needs major body work.... it drove to the spot it is sitting in 2004, and hasnt been touched since..... here is my check list.... after dmv paperwork is done... 1. bring a spare gas tank and fuel line, full with seafoam engine/fuel treatment.... disconnect current gas tank lines and connect new lines to fuel pump... hide the tank in the bed or remount. 2. bring a whole set of new hoses, replace all rubber/plastic lines. 3. bring a good couple spools of wire, many gauges. reinforce ground and positive to starter, any wires that look in need of repair... replace........ bring 2 batteries and jumper cables! 4. new cap & rotor, cables & plugs. 5. new coolant & oil & brake fluids (no tranny its a stick shift.) 6. throw a blanket over the rat eaten bench seat.... 7. check tires, add slime and bring 4 spares! or replace? and drive? 8. brake and light check, straiten mirrors... 1....2.......3.....go??? or no? need some feedback here.... yeah, but thats the easy answer "tow it", wasnt looking for easy...! it ran to its spot.... why not quick tune up, get it to burn out.... and go? i could do the work listed in a couple hours....! maybe i should have used, "how do i drive this car home???" ok now, i skipped a step.... when changing the plugs, put a cap full of marvel mystery oil into the cylinders.... maybe use oil around the front seal, seeing i cant touch the rear seal.... the owner said he poured as into the carb and cranked it, started.... misspelled gas***** he said he poured gas in it and it started..... didnt wanna feel like an ass! -myk3 oh yeah, i forgot belts,,,,,, you guys didnt even catch that! some help for an answer... i can change all the belt on that car in under 10 minutes!!! i can do a tune up in under29 minutes for $30. its a classic, not by very-very much, but it has potential.... if the truck ran every day and was just parked, nothing moved except mabey the wind..... wish it was a chevy! but dodge is ok... umm... i can have all performance parts on it in a couple weeks... my car is 1/2 custom, but also 1/2 complete! ok, no best answer yet! because i didnt even hear word about a hammer, i said body work! am i the only elusive one that can not only manifest, but spawn a reality where things impossible can be taken to a alternate dimension?! i could probly take that dead car and make it run for under $50 bucks! mechanics... come on now!! ummm... another thing.... its not the historical importance its the fact that a car that needs a owner who can fix it, im not talking about restoring, i can get it to run and look good for 1/2 the time some people i know takes weeks. get it running and service as neccessary and make it look good! alternator is a 2 minute test! smoke on the exhaust is another symptom, if you pull a spark plug the color will tell you 19 different things!! no computer- gravity powered!
I want to change the engine in a car where can i buy a V8 engine? What do i have to do to the car to fit it? I don't have the car in question but Im looking for a BMW M3 or a 3 series mainly. what cars could i get that i can kit up? and i want to put a v8 engine in it. What do i have to do to the car for the engine to fit? would i have to get a new gearbox? where can i find a V8 engine for sale? Thank you for viewing. but most of the cars with a V8 in the UK are really expensive or have so many problems with them that it would be hard to even get it started. plus it works out a lot cheaper to drop a v8 into a cheap chasis.
i need help buying a vw engine for a vw golf mk4? so i need help finding websites that offer engines for sale, i have a vw golf mk4 with a 1.6l SR engine but the gearbox is messed up and the oil pan is broken and leaking, the repair cost is so high that it'll most likely be cheaper to buy a new or refurbished engine, but i don't know where i can find one i've searched ebay but all the engines there are "pickup only" but i'm in Iceland and i'll need it shipped- i was thinking about buying a 1.8t or a 2.0l engine or even a vr6 if i can afford it, i would really appreciate it if you could help me find sites that offer shipping to Iceland AND DON'T BOTHER SENDING ME MESSAGES LIKE "go buy a new car" or "vw sucks get a volvo" or something like that --Thanks in advance--
Should i buy a car without a engine? Ok im looking at a 95 Honda civic coupe that's for sale for five hundred dollars and the guy said that he already has the engine mounts in place to put an engine in.And the reason he is selling it is because it started out as a project but then he found a new one so he just wants to get rid of this one. And ill be using this car to go to work also (Daily driver).
i found a mechanic on the internet to fix my car he said it would $200 for fluids and belts $500 for labor but? he got the car on feb25 and said he would take out the blown engine that was in the car and replace it when the new engine arrived which was march 16 so our agreement was when the engine came id pay 200 for fluids and belts which i did . That day i ask him how long it would take to put the engine in he said about a week so i expected it to be done on the 23 of march it wasnt now all along he said hes done this and this and everytime i talk to him he was like in a couple more days he would be done. to find out on the 27th he hadnt done anything to the car so i told him not to do anything else to the car and we agreed that i pay $100 dollars and i jus get my car towed well he called my dad who didnt help buy the car and doesnt have his name on the bill of sale just mines n my moms , the mechanic ask to have one more week with the car and my dad said yes with out me knowing and the guy end up still not geting it done and now wants 300(and he only took 2days not a full week) for taking out the engine.....i was thinking tell me if im wrong i get my car towed to someone and sell the car so its not in my name ....and i tell the mechanic that im selling it does that still count as stealing?? and the contract clearly says $200 for fluids and $500 on completion... and i dont even no if he spent the 200 on fluids..in i would tell the mechanic that im takin the car before getting it towed he not waiting on any parts i told him i was going to sell it. and he no started charging me a storage fee of 25 dollars a day... i dont think you can even do that in texas with out faxing some company first and giving me a writen notice of some kind. no he hasnt even atempted to put the other engine in im going out there thursday how would i find out if he a real mechanic...cause i dont think he is
Is this a good price for this car at a Dealer? Hi, I need to buy a new car. There is a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GPT (Supercharged) with 111,547 miles for sale for a good price. Originally it was listed on Cars.com for $4995, then he had a $1000 off coupon, making it $3995. Now its listed for $4,495 with a $1250 off coupon making it $3,245. I think that's a hell off a price. But he also had it listed on Craigslist for $3,999. Well anyways what do you think, the car itself good reviews, it has 3.8 engine which gets 26 hwy, which i hear is very reliable. I've always like GM even though Pontiac went defunct.
I need your honest opinion about my car. This is a If you were me what would you do situation? So I have this car a 98' Chrysler Sebring Lxi 2door coupe. Got it in 09 [my first car] Since then I have had to repair so much from the radiator, door handles, windshield, and and valve cover gasket. Now, the cars is almost at 200,000 miles [193,thousand something] It needs another windshield, lower control arm driver side, the oil is burning out of the exhaust [needs oil rings basically a new engine], brakes their rubbing, and now something is going on with the antifreeze it's shooting from the overflow plug and running hot. How much would you sale this crap car for like to that clunker thing [cash for cars] How much should I expect to get? Don't get me wrong with all this cars problems it still drives good I just need something better so I can commute to school and work without worrying about it.
How much should i sell my project car for? I have a 1971 Datsun 240z, it is a project car that i bought a little ways back and have been working on. Unfortunately im moving and i don't have the ability to work on it anymore. It currently isn't running because the engine is out as well as nearly all the bits that go with it. The fenders are removed as well. The car has two little spots of rust on it (which is very rare for the age and model), one under the battery, which is predictable, and another on the back under where the hatch shuts. There is also one small dent on the left rear quarter panel. Im going to list the extras i have and things ive bought for it just so you guys might be able to help me out a little more. - A recently rebuilt stock engine (and the one i pulled out) - Two stock mint condition seats (along with 3 totally trashed seats) - All new weather stripping for the entire car (not installed) - 2 extra transmissions, a 4 and 5 speed (along with the 4 speed in the car) - New carpets for the interior (for the driver and passenger spots and the back) - An extra of every piece of glass (in okay condition, nothing outstanding about them) - A quarter panel for repair. - A new coil - new spark plug cables - chrome oil filter cover - Spare u-joint (okay condition) And heres the things it would need to run that i dont have: - A new flex plate (i bent it a lot trying to get the engine out) - New radiator hoses - a lot of time Thanks for your help, if your interested at in all in possibly viewing it or making an inquiry into its sale you could say so in your answer and ill email you. (its in northern California)
So I have 1200 bucks(I've saved) to spend on MY car now or invest in another? OK, my current car is a 1998 Chrysler Sebring LXi (Coupe) :2.5L 152CI V6 FI. Has 189,000 miles drives lovely just smokes (& I hate it) 1. It has a cracked windshield 2. driver side lower control arm. 3. passenger side door handle 4. a paint job (that maaco said they'll do for 300-400(sale)) 5. My car smokes and the smoke is white with a dark color to it (couple mechanics look at it and automatically says oil rings one said 2200. another said 1200. OTHERS say get rid of it not worth it. OTHERS say drive it till it blow. The smoke ANNOYS me and I want it to stop!!!! -How can I get the smoke to stop; buy a NEW engine?! Now what would you, what would you get fixed, and last but not least if you sold this car how much would you sell it for? OK< if I INVEST you'll just fix the exterior
My engine blew out on my car so I took it to the dealership & bought an extended warranty.? The sales person and the mechanic in the service station said dont worry, we will inspect the car for pre-existing conditions and sign off on it for you so you can get your car fixed under warranty in 30 days. They said they will put in a claim for a new motor in 30 days and do the job for me all within the same dealership so they get paid for the job, i get my warranty, & the sales person gets her sale. Has anyone had this done? Should I be watching out for any scams? Also, I can cancel the warranty within 60 days for a full refund & they say they will have the new engine in within a month and a week. No it doesn't take 30 days to get authorization. The dealership is saying that to protect themselves they want to wait 30 days or else the warranty company could say they did not inspect my car for pre-existing conditions. Which they didn't.
Rate these advertisements i came up with, help! I'm doing a project for school on advertising and we have to brainstorm advertising ideas on specific products. Please let me know how appealing you find these advertisements, imagine you would see them on tv or something. also tell me what you like/don't like, how they can be improved and rate them from 1-10, 1=worst. thanks i will vote as best answer the one that actually gives some feedback/input! 1. A sports car The car is shown on a fleet car carrier truck, with other cars, being taken to the new dealership for sale. The car's engine starts revving really loudly and the car is acting crazy as if it's trying to break the chains (chains that are holding it on the truck). The caption underneath reads : The new X model, can't wait to be driven.... 2. A flat screen tv The camera is up close on the tv zooming in to reveal whatever features the tv has, and then zooms out and shows a family (mom, dad, 2 kids and a dog) sitting on the sofa and on the floor watching the new tv, while the tv is off. The caption reads: The new tv blah blah..., you will enjoy watching tv even if its not turned on. 3. Fast food restaurant The CEO of the company is shown in his office really mad and breaking whatever he can find. Imagine him acting crazy and funny... The caption reads: The new 99cents cheeseburger, hurry up before we regret it 4. Corona beer ad Two corona bottles placed on the sand are shown on the beach next to each other. The sunset in front of them (if they were a couple watching the sunset). Then one bottle leans on the other (as if it's the girl leaning on the guy's arm), you can hear the "tiing" sound glass makes when they touch in the commercial. The caption reads: Enjoy the summer. Corona or Summer is love. Corona or something like that also tell me what you think the advertisement is trying to say, what message is it trying to give?
please help-everything going wrong & very depressed-spending all my money but car still not running right--why? currently dealing with several problems..sciatic nerve pain that is excruciating going to my foot half my leg is numb and bedridden 10 days living in my bedroom eating mostly salads form a cooler. (car problems described below) Meanwhile several financial problems, little insurance to see my chiropractor , no money for doctor to get better and bills, and other things but here I need help with car First harmonic balancer went out and fixed. Put several parts on car via brother but none fixed any of the problems. I had to charge and owe brother..no money left down to $20 till end of month..none next month as shut off for electric I need to pay.. Had to beg relatives for money help and barely enough to fix problem which brothers thought was fuel pump. I have $200 max but that is it. Afraid to pay for diagnostic and then not have enough to fix car. Today found out with a device that the fuel pump is fine It is a 94 Buick park ave ultra supercharged (maybe a 350 engine) here is what car is doing--3 things ONE_____________ ________________ 1 I go somewhere and come back out and sometimes (not all the time) car will not start. It had worked if I waited 5-6 minutes then it started. That then got to a few times had to wait 6 minutes then another 6 minutes and it started. Now sometimes it will not start after I go somewhere. Tried every 5-10 for an hour nothing. Call brother for help twice when he got there sometime about an hour plus then it starts so far. I am afraid when I can drive I will get stuck as I shop in middle of night as I am a nightowl. Have noone to help..have no cell phone and now cannot walk due to pain, nerve dysfunction and numbness more than a few steps but hope to be able to drive soon as no way to get to doctor or grocery if my brother has to help too long. TWO_________________ _____________________ 2 about 2 weeks ago and AFTER he worked on it (occasionally he has made car worst and once had to junk it though he knows a lot and has rebuild engines and stuff so not sure if it just coincidentally happened or he messed something up accidentally. Now it is running real choppy, loud and engine like you are reeving it and like water in gas or something (not that put additive in). Usually this is worst when first starting or idling but with a full load works pretty good although i occasionally runs choppy on freeway. Worst in the first 10 miles I'd say THREE_________________ _______________________ 3 it is stalling OR RATHER DYING OUT WHEN i AM DRIVING when I am on the freeway or like changing lanes. So far it has restarted but due to starting problems in #1 I am scared I will get stuck on freeway with no way to get help ______________________________________ tuneup, coil pack, alternator and a few other things did not help -battery pretty new. No typical starting problem parts as they check out ok. A man tonight at auto zone said it might be catalytic converter. Both brothers said hmm we never thought of that..maybe that could cause 2 or even all of problems as it could make car run hot and that is affecting #1. He said do a test by removing the filter behind ? catalytic converter. Tomorrow he is going to try that guy said if it runs better it is the catalytic converter if it runs the same it is ok. Are these expensive to fix..guy said 80-200. Does that sound right (live in eastern time zone us state) Can it only be done at a shop. Brother in law has a mechanic friend and he and this guy agreed to try to help me but they are on a retreat for a week. Does he need a welder or specialized tools..would most mechanics know how to fix this (he was mechanic but now works at car sales place so he might be able to get some tools) What else might these be??? (please specify what you think is worng and which problem it may be causing--1,2 or 3 or all etc. I feel the last two may be linked as both started within days of each other. Guys tired to check engine light code but car too old tried paper clip but said the thing is hanging or something and he could not get it to work. I had an electrical problem before where the car would be ok and then 5 seconds later not start both doing it when engine hot or cold..finally a shop did 75% checking of the wiring and found antenaee was kind of stuck and draining the car. This is different I think as then one had to jump the car and now jumping does not help but it id start with starting fluid once..I guess that is why they thought it was the fuel pump but it is showing fine I would so appreciate any help. A lot is going on, I am feeling suicidal, overwhelmed and worried very bad year all round..I would so appreciate any help as to what might be going on..if you think you know can you say if part can be bought at junkyard and is it hard to do or not. thank you both so much..and for the kindness very appreciated, A Nail-Gun Is Not A Pillow you are so nice, brother said gauge reading 190 degrees and he did do that fuel cleaner thing to no avail already. if you think of anything else let me know as out of leads.
What about this for beginners car? I'm shopping around for my first car. Based on my budget, I'll be looking around for a car with 180,000 + kms. I like it small, and not too plain looking. Currently I have integras, preludes, early to mid 90's in my mind, plus some civics. We were looking at another car, but I saw this car, it's a 1997 civic hatchback, sez, mint/excellent condition, 190ish thou kms, new timing belt, brakes, exhaust, ball joint (can't remember all those sales talk lol). I'm newbie in cars, so my friend that was with me checked the engine and said it looks good. only think i know is the body and inside looks good =D Is this a good deal? was being offered certfied and emission for $4500 (canadian). Are all those new stuff because it was well taken care of or because of overuse? thanxie :x they were also offering a cheaper hb, $3000 for 1995 with 65k on new engine but the body is not as good as the one above :( carfax sez it's clean
What are my options by law, barter trade car for car as is contract, going bad? I traded my car (94 civic ex) with extra accessories for another car (acura legend 93) Straight up no cash just barter, bill of sale was signed by both parties with as is contract. Titles are not signed over yet cause of different schedules. I gave him the car in good running condition since then he came to me with a issue that occurred with the engine, He admitted to me he ran the car with no oil and now is hearing a knocking sound in the engine. The son that signed bill of sale is not owner of title, his fathers name is on title. Now his father wants cash on top of barter trade, both cars need money put into them. What can I do if father does not want to sign title over, after son has signed bill of sale as is and told me his father would sign over the title. I also spoke with father and he previously agreed to sign over title with no cash. If i accept the civic back, I will have to buy a new engine, that I dint damage, What are my options by law?
My mom sold me car during her divorce, now wants to take it back. HELP!? About 6 months ago I was 19 years old and I was driving an old Ford Taurus. In May 2010 the engine block cracked and the car was not worth the cost of fixing it. My mother devised a plan with me that I would sell my Ford to Pick N Pull and my mother would accept the $300 they offered us as full payment for me to buy her car, a 2000. I agreed, we sold the Ford, she took the money and bought herself a new car. My parents were in the middle of a divorce at that time and the Honda could not be put into my name because it was in both of my parent's names and was considered a community asset. My mom assured me that once the car was legally all hers, she would sign it over to me. Now that the divorce is final and the car is legally in her name only, my mom denies ever selling me the car, refuses to comment on why she took my $300, and plans to take the car back into her possession and sell it to someone else. Obviously it was my mom so I didn't make a bill of sale or anything, but we had a verbal agreement between 2 adults. Can I sure her for the car? My mom is not likely to go to court and lie to the judge, most likely she will admit that we did have that agreement but will say she changed her mind. Help! What are my rights? I use this car for work and school and I really need to keep it.
need to register car we rebuilt, no pink, just bill of sale, got just the body,no engine, etc, NV needs title? this body of a car was sitting on a guys ranch, not running. we towed it home in 2002, we now have it running (moved from CA to NV) and want to get it registered so we can sell it. Again, NV will not even run the VIN # without a title, what should we do? I think the guy owns the car planning to restore it but never did. we want to get it registered so we can sell it or do we sell it as is and let the new owner deal with it? thanks for any help.
Private car sales rights - as a seller where do I stand? Good evening, I was hoping for some advice with regards a car sale I made on the weekend. I sold my car on ebay last week (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110631109956&ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT), on Saturday the winning bidder came to buy the car, they arrived and knocked on the door and the buyer came in and handed me the cash and was ready to sign all the documents straight away, I thought this quite strange and actually said to her 'would you like me to show you around the car first?', and so we did, I pointed out some aspects of the car that were not perfect (which were in the advert - although she hadn't come to inspect the car beforehand), I pointed out that it could do with 2 new back tyres, that there was a crack in one of the back chrome extras, the alloys could do with touching up and that it needed a new aerial. She said fine, and was happy but didn't even ask me to start up the engine, I asked her if she wanted to hear the engine and so I started it up for her. I told her it had been off road since October and had sat in the snow and frost and that I had had a mechanic give it a quick look over and he had said that it seemed to be in good working order but that the brakes may have seized up somewhat due to the adverse weather conditions and the fact it had not be driven for so long, he told me that he felt if this was the case that they would be stiff to begin with but should get better as it was driven. The buyer said thats fine and that she understood. She was happy with it all and so handed over the cash and then we did all the paper work and I made a receipt with her name and address on it, the price she had paid and stated 'sold as seen, no warranty implied or given' which is what I had been told to write by others. After they had left my wife was going to town and so said she would post the car documents on her way. About 20 mins later I received a phonecall from the buyer saying that the brakes were so stiff that she had had to pull over and the brakes felt red hot, she said she understood that I had told her this but was unsure as to whether this was safe, I told her I would phone a mechanic and ask him what he thought, he said that without testing the brakes he obviously couldn't comment on exacly what the problem was and so didn't want to advise, however he thought that they would have seized up due to their inactivity and weather and should get better after time. I told the buyer what he had said and she said that she appreciated I had told her that this had been my concern before she had bought the car and before she left. After discussion we decided that I would call the RAC and see if they would come and help. I did this and the RAC came to their rescue and diagnosed that the brakes had indeed seized up and that it was risky to drive it, he said it needed new callipers, brake discs and brake pads. They decided that the best solution was to drop it back to my house and that they would look at getting it repaired, I told them that I would help out by trying to get some quotes from local garages for them and they thanked me for this. Today I received a message on my phone from the buyer saying that although she was happy that I was going to find quotes for her that she felt that I should either pay half of the costs or that I should give her her money back. I have not responded yet as I feel rather annoyed about this, I mentioned the fact and it was in the advert that the car had been declared off road since October and I said to her before she signed any paper work that I had been told that the brakes may have suffered due to the weather and inactivity. At no time did she ask to test drive the car at at no time did she say that she was concerned about this. I was hoping you could tell me my rights here, I feel that I have done everything I needed, and in fact I did more helping out by calling the RAC, by allowing it to be brought back to my house, by saying that I would get some quotes, and even by getting her to look at the car and hear the engine etc, which she wouldn't have done if I hadn't have said. I did not know that the brakes would need extensive work, however I had warned her before she bought the car that they may be a problem (again I don't think I had to mention this as the seller as she hadn't asked me). Do you think I should step back and tell her that I do not feel it is my problem anymore as I have helped more than perhaps I needed to already, or should I offer some money to help smooth the deal, I got less for the car than I wanted in the 1st place. Any advice both legally and morally would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Chris Price
I found a 1996 nissan sentra for sale is it a good deal? I found a used 1996 nissan sentra at a new car dealer with power windows, cruise control, and power door locks. Interior is in good shape. It is a trade-in they got a few days ago. It has 152,000 miles on it, but runs and drives great. My friend checked the oil and radiator and everything looks good. The engine doesn't smoke or leak oil, or make any funny noises. The paint is in good shape, but it has a slight dent on the left front fender and a small dent on the back of the car. Also the headlight has some water in it, but it works okay. They were asking $2995.00 but I got them to lower it to 1995.00 cash. Total $2250.00 cash with tax and title. I tried to get them to come down lower, but they refuse. They said a wholesaler will be coming to auction tomorrow morning and would pay $1995.00 for the car. My question is, do you really think a wholesaler would pay $1995.00 for a car like this? And, do you think if I bought the car for $1995.00 I would be getting a good deal?
Oldsmobile Aurora..Did I get Taken by the dealership,My car is a lemon, and they new it my warenty is uphelp?? In December I paid cash $6,000 out the door from a dealership,, My husband and I were just window shopping for cars..when we told the salesman what we had in Mind..and talked us into a 96 fully loaded, mint condition, 67,000 miles what a deal,..It has a V8 we new it would eat up the gas, The information sheet detailing the the cars feature said it gets 24 city,29 Hgwy...WRONG!!! 17cty and thats without stops, in Florida everylightis a waiting game....Withen the 30 day warrenty given ,The Engine warning light sai 'LOw Coolant" When we brought it back, we expalined the salesman told us that It was fully serviced befor it was put up for sale..Anyways it was serviced and we told us they tested it and it should be fine...3 weeks later the low coolant light is back on, dosnt start, odor of gas..Shouldntthey still be liable since I brought it in for the same problem when it was under warrenty, and they said it all fixed...What are my rights. Is it a major problem I was lied to,
Car Dealership Fraud, Lemon Law? Major faults on a car I bought 6 months ago? I bought a BMW from a European Car dealership late June 2008, 36 day dealership warranty, unlimited km's powertrain "engine and gearbox" warranty. 1st day we saw the car the Check engine light, ABS and Traction control lights were all on and a check coolant level message. Dealer told me not to worry the car just came in and will be repaired and Certified all before delivery... naturally none of this was written down, all was said and done verbally. A week later I go to pick the car up. All seemed in order, sales rep said there was some issues they had to address for safety and that all is in order now. So our lovely "coolish" summer passes and winter comes around months later and the car seems to not all be in good order, ABS is not funtioning at all, traction control does not work, was extremely difficult to just keep the car on the road in snowy conditions, until i added 300lbs of sandbags in the trunk. Then I started experiencing some engine performance problems, whining noises in the transmission, grinding noises in the differential, oh and did I mention I had to do repairs on the front suspension as well as the rear susspension that broke 3 months after I bought the car, had to get new springs struts etc... front steering control arms and steering support arms... So all this now suspecting problems with the engine, gearbox and differential, I took the car for a BMW scan and dealership said my check engine light at minimum shhould be on as there were over 10 engine fault codes and the light wasn't on so had to be defective, I took the car home with my new found information, and recalled that I had seen the check engine light on when I bought the car as well as the ABS and ASC light... I took the instrument cluster out and opened it up to expect to see some blown light bulbs, but to my horror discovered that the light had been covered up from the inside with black electrical tape, not enabling me to see any faults with the car that were obviously there... I removed 2 of the 3 peices of tape, re-installed the cluster and the light were on showing that there are issues with the car and that they very likely have never been repaired and merely hidden to get the car through safety and to be able to sell it... I then paid another dealer again to do the same inspection to remove the last peice of tape so that I could have a written report of the cover up... this was after I realised the possible implications of what was going on, in hind sight I should have gotten them to inspect it straight away after finding the the initial problems... and then they would have discovered the horror first hand... So to sum up, 6 months after buying a $8000 car I have a car that has several engine problems, susspension problems, braking problems in inoperative ABS and Traction control. Defects with the exhaust system, possibly also the transmission and differential... is this execptable, how do I resolve this with the dealer that pretty much is just denying any knowledge of the pre-existing conditions and warning light cover up... and staying put on the fact that the car is past it's 36 day dealership warrenty... I feel that this car was a deliberate fraudulant sale and am now stuck with a car that coninsedently broke down in the middle of an intersection today wouldn't go into any gears... so I don't even know what is wrong with it yet, mechanic is just starting initial diagnosis ... again...... does the lemon law or any other law protect me for this? With all these faults I'm looking at $12000 + worth of repairs, I would never have bought the car if those lights were still on the day we signed the papers... Also after signing the dealer said oh by the way, the warranty doesn't cover any gaskets or seals and wrote on the bill of sale sold as seen, without discussing this fact with me... The 2 things that got me into looking at the car to begin with was the fact that the add said that the car is in Excellent condition and that the buyer would be doing so in confidence as the dealer is a UCDA member... but my experience thus far has left me sleepless and emotionally distraught, I don't even know what to think or what to do, I have so many emotions of utter anger, dibelief, sadness, that I am sick to my stomach, since last thursday when I found the lights covered up, and now today the physical 2nd breakdown... HELP PLEASE any one with advise or legal advice? I bought this car in Toronto Ontario Canada
Is $500 a fair dealer trade in value for my 1999 Toyota Camry? I'm looking at buying a new 2010 Honda Accord or 2012 Ford Fusion to replace my 1999 Toyota Camry. Both dealers told me all they could offer me was $500 in trade in. This sounds like a major rip off. The interior of the car is in excellant condition and the heating, air conditioning and radio works. The car is a 4 cylinder with 117,000 miles on it. The car has the check engine light on. In my state the car will not pass smog with the check engine light on. This repair is called the charcoal canister which would cost $500 to replace and the check engine light would be off. The back bumper of the car is a little scratched on the right. Car sales people tell me that if I sell it on my own I will only get $1000 or maybe $800. My independant mechanic seems to think I could get $2500 if I sell it on my own without fixing the charcoal canister. The sales people at both new car dealers talk to me like I'm stupid and I'm wrong.

Could someone please help me on car buying? I am currently looking around for cars. Mainly on Craigslist, cause I don't have too much money to play with (about $3,000). I found two cars that I'm really interested in, one is a 70's VW Beetle, with a brand new engine (doesn't even have 1,000 on it). Also, there is a 60's Ford Mustang for sale as well, with the I6 engine. I have absolutely no knowledge of cars older than 80's. I was wondering if they were good cars, and will be reliable. Thanks!
Which part of the year do most people sell their car? Trying to buy a Honda Civic but not enough are listed? I'm trying to get ahold of the following: Make: Honda Model: Civic Engine: 1.6i Vtec Se Number of doors: 5 door Hatchback Mileage: As low as possible. Ideally in the 20,000/30,000 region. Year: Cars made after 2003 (03, 53, plates onwards only) Transmission: Manual Fuel: Petrol Colour: Black (ideally wanted), darker colours, silver £5,500 - £6000 region The issue is that I've been looking for 3 weeks now and nobody seems to be selling many Honda Civics compared to the more common place cars like Astras, Focus, Cleo, Corsa, etc. Just wondered if when the 08 plates come into March maybe more people will list their cars for sale. For example would honda civic owners put their car on sale just because the new 08 plates will make them want to buy a more current car? Any advice on how people get a hold of cars that are not listed at any of their local dealers!!!! HELP!!!!! totalquality2004@yahoo.com Live in hertfordshire here!
Car trouble with today's economy, what should i do? I have a 1994 Dodge intrepid, and I make no payments on it, all i pay for it is insurance and gas. I am a high school student making $7 an hour and i hardly get 15 hours a week, when i try and push every shift for an extra hour or so.. Every shift I try to stay as late as possible, and im always picking up shifts for co-workers, and with all that work, I still only end up with at most $230 for two weeks. I pay for my own basic necessities (food, clothes, personal hygiene products, etc) while I am also trying to save money for a good laptop before I go to college, and I plan to move out of the house in about a year (by then I will get to work more since I wont be in school) Until recently my intrepid has done what it needed to do. here is what is wrong with my car -extremely loose tie rods -grommets missing -in need of an alignment -new fuses for my horn/radio -new battery (corroded) -new belts (they're really badly cracked & frayed) -the brake fluid is at 100ppm when it is required to be at at at least 200ppm -really really really really loose steering -has been over 50,000 on the same shocks & struts -exhaust system leaking -engine fluid leaks -slow leak in RF tire -need two more tires (^^ including above) My sister was the one that had the car before me, and didn't do preventive maintenance on it at all, and only changed the oil when it absolutely needed it, instead of after ever 3,000 miles. The cost to replace the tie rods & get a new grommet would cost me $436.61 (mainly because of the time it would take to replace it) That does NOT include the other replacements that are obviously needed. and.. clearly, i cannot afford this sort of maintenance until after about two months. I have a cell phone bill, insurance, and basic necessities to pay for first, so that is why it would take me that long (at the very least).. and i cant go without it, and I made an agreement with my parents that i would take care of everything myself aside from rent/gas/electric/water once I got a job, and I absolutely refuse to ask my parents to help, because I would have to pay them back, and I don't know how long that would take me, and I hate the feeling of owing someone money, I have always been very good with paying people back because of that. I hate it! Also, Especially with how the economy is going, I want to be able to learn on my own how to deal with saving money without asking others for help, I want to do this on my own! Now, that you know that ^^ here are the choices. - I can either, take advantage of all the specials that car dealerships are presenting because they are desperate for sales, and get a much newer car that would only need maintenance checks and oil changes for a while, or - spend another 1,000 on the car I have now. After graduation in December.. I graduate early, ( I am guaranteed a waitress job for day shift) I can make enough to pay from the job i have now for the basic needs, and then my serving job to pay off the car within a reasonable amount of time. I was looking at getting either some sort of KIA or an 05-07 chevy cobalt Which, in the long run, do you think would be a smarter choice?(what would save me the most money, I plan on keep this car, whichever it turns out to be, for a very long time) If you say keep my current car, what ways can i go about saving money on the costs, and how could i get it done in a faster process If you say go with getting a newer car, What car would be best for me? I need something cheap, but obviously more reliable than my 14-year-old dodge. Also, it needs to have good gas mileage! Thank you so much for all of your answers!!
when is the replacement new model for hyundai coupe on sale in the uk? please only answer if pretty sure. the dealers tell me 2009 at earliest, but i dont believe them. concept car versions have been shown in motoring media for well over a year, and i understand the actual rel road going version was on show at New York motor show earlier this year, i have seen pictures of both an orange and black 2 tone concept and the real thing in silver on Top Gear tv. i understand its rear wheel drive and the top 2 engine derivatives are a turbo and also a v8 in lieu of my present v6 and that 300bhp! is being talked about!!!!!! bring it on! but when, i dont want to buy a new series3 in the new year only to be superceded by the replacement! that would appear in the dictionary as "depreciation" !!!
craigslist buying a car? i email this person about this car and they told me that they are on the airforce and that this will go through ebay is this really true or they just trying to take my money the car is soooo nice to be true for that price that i have emailed two people and they say that the car is already in a shipping company this is a SCAM right?? -----Inline Attachment Follows----- I will have the car shipped from UK by an US Air Force cargo plane so there won't be any additional shipping costs. Also I will arrange for a truck to transport the car to your home address or, if you like, you can pick it up from the nearest airport in your area. The shipping will take 6-8 days, depending on your location.Shipping will be door to door,to your home address, somebody must be home when the car arrives to sign for the reception. The car will arrive with all the papers and documents required for registration and the keys. The clear title and the bill of sale will be already signed by me. The payment will be done through eBay.You will send the money to eBay and as soon as the payment is confirmed they will notify me to proceed with the shipping. I will ship the car, you will receive it and you will have 5 days for inspection, both the car and the paperwork and the option to accept or reject the car.The inspection time period will begin as soon as you sign for receiving the car at your requested address.During all this time eBay will hold the money into a trust account. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the car before decided to buy it.If you are satisfied with the car and decide to keep it you inform eBay about this and they will release the money to me. If the car is not as advertised and decide not to keep it eBay will refund you the money, no questions asked, and shipping back the car will be my concern. I think this is more than fair for the both of us.Please take in to consideration that I will get paid only after you receive the car and make sure everything is as agreed. If you agree with these terms and you have the money, send me your full name and the address where you want the car to be delivered to and I will initiate the transaction with eBay. You will receive all the transaction details from them. I will appreciate an answer as soon as possible. Car engine converted to run on propane. What exactly does that mean? I'm looking at cars for sale but I don't know much about cars in general. This one in particular has an eight cylinder engine. The seller says the engine's been converted to run on propane. What exactly does this mean, especially in regards to fuel efficency vs. cost, environmental impact, and also...where would I fill up? thanks for the help.
How do I transfer a car title after only 3 weeks, while having a "in transit" tag? I bought a car on Ebay a few weeks ago and got the conneticut title from the previous owner. I got a 30 day "in transit" tag, planning to register it in Kansas when I moved. On my way to Kansas the car engine threw a rod in St Louis. So I parked the car and want to sell it "as is" quickly because it's not worth the cost of a new engine to me. To sell it do I have to finish the registration process? If so can I do that in St Louis? Or can I transfer the car directly to the new owner with a bill of sale?
where is the best place to list a car for sale? i have a 89 jeep wrangler to sell. it has a rebuilt engine, but the kinks have not been worked out all the way....i.e. timing etc And a 76 bmw 530i that is good shape. what is the price range i should sell them in and where??
What would be considered high mileage for a police car? I've looked at several former police cars for sale on the internet with between 60,000 and 90,000 miles on them. Since the engines in police cars have heavy duty parts, would this be considered high mileage for them? Btw, all the cars I've looked at were 2000 to 2003 model years.
Question about an AS-IS private party car sale? I sold a car a few weeks ago. The car had previously had a check engine code, but I took it to the shop to get fixed. Problem solved, until a few days later, light comes back on. I take it back and they do no diagnosis on the car besides pulling the code and give me five possibilities that the problem could be, one being the spark plug, so I said I'd change that and left. There is no receipt for work, nor was I charged for this visit. I changed the plug and never had a hiccup out of the car for a few hundred miles. Problem solved. The car had been for sale for a few weeks prior to this work being done, but a few hundred miles after the repair, I found a potential buyer. He looked at the car in the pitch black dark with a flashlight and it was also raining. I told him the work that had been done on the car and gave him the receipt for that work. I didn't mention the second visit, because to the best of my knowledge the car was fixed. I also told him I do all the work on my cars myself, except the work I had the receipt for. I produced a three week old receipt from having the emissions done as well, and he signed as "AS-IS" contract. He sends me an email the next day saying the car is messed up. He seems like the type who would be lawsuit happy, so I just brushed it off and told him I disclosed everything (to my knowledge, I had, just not about the second visit to the shop bc I deemed it irrelevant). Well, he ends up getting a statement from my mechanic that says I brought the car back and was told five possibilities that the issue could be, but that "no formal diagnosis was done on that visit". Now he is suing me for the ad saying "never any mechanical problems" Yet, I disclosed the receipt for what was minor work the mechanic had done previously, so he knew it had been worked on. And the second count is of knowing the head gasket was blown before I sold it to him, which was never diagnosed or confirmed in any way when I owned it, the mechanic made an assumption about that as well as four other possibilities, none of which were confirmed. I still don't think he has anything on me because the car was running fine when he bought it, the check engine light was not on, and he drove it an hour away without any problems, the issue happened the next day. Thoughts? Oh yeah, he did not take it to a mechanic to get the car checked out either and my mechanic's statement said that I mentioned I would change the spark plug myself after I left his shop, therefore, trying to fix the problem.
What is the Thing Called That Jumps your Car battery? Hi there, I was talking to a car sales person, who told me about this thing (I forgot what its called), that jumps your car for you.. Basically it works like one of those carry car jumper, but it goes into the engine compartment, and when it notices the battery cant start the car it helps it out, so you never really have to worry about a dead battery
michigan law on private sale on used car? i purchased a car about 3 weeks ago, and now the car doesn't work supposedly the engine on the car had seized up, and now i may need a new engine? does anybody know what i can do? if i could get my money back or get the owner to repair/fix the car? and i did not sign a as-is agreement with the owner
Can I sell a car I havent paid the sales tax on? I bought a car from a buy here pay here (big mistake). A month after I got the car the engine blew up. I never licenced the car. I havent even paid the sales tax. once the car is paid off can I sell it and the other person be able to get it legal?
why arent there any small car hybrids for sale? aka, vw golf hybrid? we know we have the technology to create vehicles that surpass the 250Mph speed barrier, we have the technology to make cars travel across the water. so why aren't there small cars out there taking full advantage of the available hybrid technology? and instead of just throwing an electric motor, why don't we utilise our knowledge of engines and produce something that's truthfully efficent?
General Motor 08 Optimum Car Sale? General Motors is having a sale of it's various models, one or two models at a time of it's 08 Optimum used car fleet. The prices seem to be very low, especially if you pay cash. In the advertisements General Motors gives an explanation of why the prices are "too good to be true." I've test drove several of them. There was just something I didn't like about the Buicks when that sale came around, but I test drove an option loaded Chevrolet Impala today and it handled really well. It has a V-6, 3.5 litre engine and low clicks, 23,000 K. I forgot what the power train warranty is but I think it's 5 years or 150,000. Nice and roomy interior. The dealer gave me the exact price of the car, taxes, license transfer, etching, everything. The problem is that it does sound too good to be true and every time in my life I've bought something too good to be true, it's always turned out badly. However there seems to be so many of these sales and the advertisements are from General Motors not the GM Dealerships, I thought I'd ask the mechanics out there. What have your experiences have been with '08 Impalas and what do you think General Motors special Optimum sales? Are they too good to be true or is this a genuine sale?.
What to do when the car dealer do not take responsibility after selling junk car? After four days that I bought a used car at Tyson in Shorewood, IL, the engine of this car failed. I try to negotiate with the person that sold this car and with general sales manager of the store Jim Kinney, but they were very unhelpful and disrespectful. They did not want to take any responsibility even that I drove this car only 60 miles. This is a very ripped of . Are car dealers allowed to sell junk cars? What I should do?
How do I sell my car when the engine knocks and has electrical problems? I have a beautiful 1992 lincoln continental with 160k miles(body and leather interior is mint condition) everything works. Except the engine knocks and the electrical system is draining the battery. I cant sell it! have it for sale at $800. I put "best offer" and my phone number on windshield. Its been sitting at a Firestone for 3 months now. I've received about 100 phone calls asking about my car. All I get are tire kickers and flakes. When I am honest and tell them the engine knocks people run! I bought the car when the engine knocked and it didnt scare me. I had no problems with it. I drove it for a year with no problems. I finally bought another car so I dont need it anymore. So how do I sell my car fast? Should I write "engine knocks" on the window? However, I may not get any calls. Or should I lower price? How would you guys advertise my car and for what price? I need to get this thing sold. Im moving out of state next month. Your honest opinion would be grateful.
Want 60+ miles per gallon car ? Why in the USA ,car manufacturers don't offer a small DIESEL engine cars which they offer in the Europe? Those small DIESEL engine cars get 60+ miles per gallon and are 30-50% from overall car sales numbers in Europe. Those cars are also 30-35% more fuel efficient than gasoline engine ones and get same CO2 emissions than gasoline engines or better. Those DIESEL engines last longer and require less maintenance than gasoline engine's. There is Ford's,GM (European model's called Vauxhall and Opel) ,Volkswagen's,Toyota's and etc. for sale in the Europe... Those cars cost only $12,000-$15,000 a piece. TOYOTA PRIUS and HONDA INSIGHT AREN'T ONLY CARS GETTING 60+ miles per gallon! I am just sicken tired of lies which Ford and GM tell to American consumer. If they would be patriotic companies, they would sell same fuel effient DIESEL cars here at USA as they do around the Europe and around the world. You can check this info from following link. www.bovinebazaar.com/deisel.htm
Breach of contract - Used car sale? I bought a car recently for $850. The vehicle was not running at the time but the owner assured me that it ran perfectly and there were no engine mechanical problems. Keeping this in mind, I wrote up a contract when I bought the car that explicitly states that I would be entitled to return of the car and a complete refund if, and only if the vehicle exhibits engine mechanical problems that would normally constitute engine replacement. The limites expressed warranty is only effective for five miles. The car looked a little shady but I bought it anyway to avoid towing it back at my expense and since I had an expressed warranty (I haven't driven it at all). After some diagnosis I have found out that the engine is bad, and the owner refuses to refund my money for the vehicle. The contract is unambiguous so much that he doesn't have a leg to stand on in court. I want to know to what extent I can charge for damages, and what corners can I expect him to try to work to get out of this? Thanks for the replies. I have visual evidence that proves that the vehicle could not have broken in my possession: the crankshaft keyway had broken and the crank pulley ground out an abnormal hole in the crank. This can ONLY happen as a result of driving the vehicle for hundreds of hours with a bad harmonic balancer; something I obviously could not do even if I tried within three days. Moreover, I have audible (recorded) evidence that he knew this was going on when he sold me the vehicle, but neglected to inform me. The contract states that the vehicle is sold "AS IS with one exception", the exception being that he agreed to refund my money if the engine had mechanical problems within the next five miles; I have not put a single mile on it since I got it. This is very explicit; it doesn't matter what condition it was in when I got it. He warranteed the car for a certain period, and signed an agreement to that effect.

Car for Sale Question? How much do you think that I could get for a 1990 Honda Civic Dx Hatchback? It needs a little work done on it, but it has been outfitted as a racing car, with a turbo exhaust system and a vortex engine and headers. It also has a sunroof, rack and pinon steering, rear windshield wiper, multi cd changer, and extra added-on head lamps.
What do you look for when inspecting a used car? I'll be looking for used cars around $3500 or less for sale by private parties and I'm not too knowledgeable about engines. What are some pointers for things to look for. How can you tell if there are leaks besides looking on the ground under the car?

Where is the best place to post a car for sale online? When shopping or selling a car online what are the top free sites you go to? Also what are some turn ons/offs when looking at a picture of a car or reading details about the car? When looking at photos what do you want to see side view, engine, trunk ect? Plain info VS In depth info: Plain Info: "4Dr. 4cyl. 1.6L 35mpg, power, locks windows ect," In depth info:" Well taken car of 4dr, 1.6L for great gas mileage up to 35+ mpg, has easy to use power windows and lock!."
I'm confused about selling my car - can I go back on a deal before it is finalized? I have a 98 Dodge Neon with a bad engine - listed the car at $700 thinking I would get $500 for it. I need to get rid of it asap because of parking issues. One of the first people who contacted me lowballed me at $400 but I accepted because I didn't know if I would be contacted by anyone else - hello, not running! - and because I need to get rid of it asap. After I did this I was told that I shouldn't have agreed to the sale. The guy was on his way over so I was told to not contact anyone else and that I'm stuck for it. 2 guys came over and said that they would buy it IF they could find a cheap motor, asked me to take it off the website, and left a credit card as a guarantee that they will buy it. I made out a bill of sale stating that the sale wasn't finalized. Did I do this wrong? Can I contact other people to get a better deal? I was told not to back out because I am female and doing this alone, and the guys might be angry to find that I went back on the sale. Is this a good sale?

Survey do you have issues with the 3 big car makers asking for a hand out at our expense? I seriously think that if they were to lower cost because if any of you think that a car cost that much to manufacture than you are misguided. lower the sticker prices and watch sales go up bail yourselves out. in my honest opinion I really could care less if they did go under they are the reason why we use the internal combustion engine cars. the electric car was available years ago in California if you have forgotten and the big 3 were behind its demise because they get kick backs from oil companies
Does an non working a/c condenser affect car performance? I found a 1998 crv with $120k miles for sale for $4000....The seller says the a/c condenser needs to be replaced..If the a/c condenser needs to be replaced, will that affect how the car's engine runs with the a/c off? Also, about how much would it cost to get this repaired? Should I ask them to take the repair costs off the price? thanks
Car Warranty Done after the sale of the car ? I purchased my car from a Pontiac Dealership about 3 years ago. When I got the car It had a 6 month warranty which has been over for a while. But Now I'm having problems with the Engine and its going to cost about 1,700 dollars to have the problems fixed and theirs no guarantee that my engine wont have difficulty's later on down the line. I I have no problem paying the money to get the car fixed however the issue is that if engine go's bad say 3 months from now. I wanted to know if anybody has ever bought some type of workers warranty from a dealership. Something that"s assuring me if the problems happens 3 to 6 months from now that I can bring it back into their dealership and have it serviced under warranty.
I have an '89 240sx with an unusable title. Where can i sale this car? I bought this as my first car in what we thought was a perfect deal , But the original owner acted a total douche and signed in the wrong place.. The car was sold 4 times after that till it got to me.. Now ,weve tried to get the title... But to much dismay. Now , its been sitting in my yard for years now. ANd i want to sell it for what i can. SO! , Where can i? Since the original owner is thought dead , or cant be found/ living in mexico. Its got a very nice engine in it. so i know its worth quite abit. Its basically a junker without the title... Ive thought about maybe taking it up to the race tracks and selling it to people up there for parts..... Whats the best way to go about saleing ?

what engines would fit in a 1989 ford mustang? '89 Mustang for sale down the road from my house(should be able to pick it up for about $1200-give or take) just curious to see if it is worth buying to do an engine swap. Right now, it's the 2.3L engine, and the body looks to be in pretty good shape, as does the rest of the car. Thanks.
how do i sell power to the electric company? i think that i can produce enough fuel to run a couple of car engines 24/7. how much money might i expect to make by generating electricity for sale to the electric company? is it hard to arrange for such a thing with them?
What to put in auto for sale ad? I'm selling my truck outside my house and I want to know what I should put in the for sale ad. I've got the engine size and mileage but the paper feels kind of... empty. What needs to be put in order to sell this car?
Getting into car sales....best way to learn product? I'm accepting a job at a dealership of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep vehicles. I know next to nothing about cars...other than they've all been one of those 3 brands! My first weeks will be learning product...what's the best & quickest way? What kinds of things will I need to know inside & out? (features, options, etc....what about engines??) I hope I'm doing the right thing..... they seem to want me!
Is it legal to sell a used car in florida without transferring title? My wife bought a used car privately. The seller is a mechanic (owns a tire franchise) and he claims to have purchased the car from a customer. The title was still in the name of the customer he bought it from and the sellers wife forged the previous owners name on the title. After six weeks the engine has thrown a rod and is unuseable. I know my wife shouldn't have accepted this title but I am wondering if I have any legal recourse. In Florida there is no lemon law on private auto sales but I think this guy may have known the engine was going.
How do I get a car registered which has no papers/plates and has sat for years? I responded to a newspaper ad recently and bought a 1971 vw beetle. The car had no plates and no paperwork that I could find. There were several telltale signs that the car had sat a number of years, but I understood it to be a project. The seller said he had originally bought it at auction with the intent of using its (good) engine for a sand rail dune buggy, but that like many other good plans requires time. Once paid for, I was provided no bill of sale which I feel I was owed. It was as if the seller felt that since he had let the car go very cheap, that he owed no person any more, and if he did, he should've either charged more or wrecked it instead. Like he could have gone to the trouble but would be put out for something extraneous. The seller has a shop in an easy to find location, so it is not as if I cannot find him, and he doesn't appear to be trying to hide, hes just a strangely irritable and crotchety person.
What did you believe was true when you were a kid??? I used to think if you swallowed an apple pip then a tree would grow in your belly - also I used to think that at a Car Sales Forecourt they took out each Car's engine every night to avoid them being stolen............weirdo I know am!! xx
Do I sell the used car I just purchased and is it ethically correct? I just bought a 99 Lexus RX 300 (private sale) and I am now very concerned if I have made a good decision. The car has 100,000 mi on it but it runs great and is in near perfect condition. It was inspected and given a clean bill of health and has a clean carfax. Since I bought it however I have been reading about a chronic transmission failure in these vehicle to the tune of 5k and engine sludge problems as well ( another 5k if the engine goes). I dont have any indications of these problems with this car but I am seriously reconsidering my decision to buy. If I were to get hit with a big bill for service I dont think I could pay it so am I better off preemtivley selling the car on the chance that it will have the same problems so many others have had. Additionally is it unethical to attempt to sell the car without disclosing the potential problems even thought this one does not currently, but in all liklleyhood will will develope at least one of these problems in the next few years.

The engine and chassis numbers on car dont match papers, why? My b/f bought me a car and I want to resell it. A potential buyers finance company told me to give them the month of manufacture so I looked at the compliance plate and the vin and engine numbers were different to the ones on registration. The finacee company wanted to come out and check that the numbers matched. I rang my b/f and told him and he told me to ring them and cancel the sale, which I did. I checked the numbers on the car for encumberences and it has a debt. My boyfriend says it will be ok to sell and not to get so worried about it. I am worried that it will come back on me if I sell it and that I might actually have to pay the debt. Is it possible that the numbers have been changed to avoid the debt being paid and could this have been done legally? Will I get in trouble if I am caught with this car?
What do you put on your "FOR SALE" sign/listing if the car has issues? I'm selling my 97 Toyota Tercel that a couple months ago I had to pay about $600 to have the engine taken apart and the timing belt put back on - it'd slipped a few cogs. It did the same thing again (they said it might) and it definitely needs someone to take the engine apart and tinker with it but it most likely will just keep doing this. I do have 100K miles on it but it should have survived longer - I just wasn't very nice about getting oil changes/maintenance done on it. I bought signs to put on my car but what do you put when it's got issues? "Handyman special"? "Timing belt issues"? Or just "Sold As Is?" I don't want to pull one over on anyone but I also think with the right person they might be able to get it going again for at least a while longer. It's a good car - 30MPG, A/C, I put about $800 worth of all-weather radials on it less than two years ago. No body damage, interior's in good shape. What should I put and how much should I ask for it?
The next step to car repair? I have a 2001 Saturn SL2 that I bought this summer and it's nothing but a nightmare. THe check engine has been on since July and I've already had 2 oil checks (I commute), a tune up, replaced the starter, and replaced the water pump. The light is still on......The first two times I had a diagnositc test done they both said something about a secondary fuel injection malfunction. Do I just need to get the fuel system cleaned???? I'm wanting to trade in the car or sale the car for the remaining balance at the top of the year but I'll get a HORRIBLE trade in value with that light on and no one will buy a car with the "check engine" light on. Any thoughts?? I'm going to give the buy a new fuel(gas) cap a try and unplugging the battery before I put more money into this car (it's already costed me about a $700-800) how long do I wait for the power to drain from the on board computer before hooking everything back up???
Fishy Car Advertisement? I am trying to purchase a used car and i was going through some trusted used car sales sites. I found a really great deal but it sounds very strange even stupid. I found a 2005 BMW 325 Ci that had 13,000 mileage, 6 cylinder 2.5L engine, automatic transmission and other accesories. All of this for about $19,500. And its listing source was the recycler. The car is priced at $24,855 at fair condition. When i saw this i thought maybe there was some major problem with the car especially since the mileage was so low. Are there any websites i can use to check the crash reports or other stuff about the car? Also can you please give me some advice on why i shouldn't buy this car? thankyou do you guys know any dependable used car sales sites? thank you
