What motivates people to take their classic car to a car show? I imagine you have to pay to display it, so I would imagine that unless you get something out of it (monetary or an award or something), most people would not be willing to display their car if they are just spending money to show it, unless it is just pride alone.
classic car show wedding? My future husband and I are both into classic cars. We want to have a 50's or "rockabilly" theme wedding. We came up with this idea to host a car show and get married around all the gorgeous cars. The date is not set but it will be sometime in the next year or two. Has anybody ever heard of something like this? Anybody believe it is possible? Any tips on how to get started? Anything would be greatly welcomed.

2010 Cali Car Shows - Pre 1964? Are there any great classic car shows in Southern California in early 2010? I'm looking into a trip for the boyfriend and I for an x-mas present. He's into rat rods and customs and has a '54 Plymouth Belvedere. We're in Minnesota, so we need to get to a warmer climate come Jan/Feb and hear that Cali has the greatest shows! Thanks for your help!!
Putting on a classic car show. Can I get some input please? Okay, Our non profit organization wants to start an annual car show in Santa Barbara, California. To get the community more involved in our organization, as well as people outside Santa Barbara. We have a new program but need to raise more money for it to start. The cars don't really necessarily need to be limited to just cars. I've never put one on before, been to a few and even entered a couple back in the days. Many years ago. I know times may have changed by then. I have a couple questions for all car club members, people who have been to these shows, or anyone that can give me ideas. 1. Does anyone have any contact information on other car clubs. What is the appropriate way to invite other car clubs to this car show and have them bring there cars to enter into a contest. 2. What catagories are the normal for trophies? I can't remember the names. I just have years stuck in my head. Do they do 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies? Or just 1st place? Do they have best all around trophies? Do people still do the car hopping contest? Stereo sound and anything else that I can think of? 3. We're going to be doing a silent auction/BBQ as well. What type of side dishes do they usually serve at shows these days. I remember just tri-tip sandwhiches and sodas and chips. I would like to do a little more then that! LOL 4. Do they still have those really cool looking Schwin bikes that people show or other brand names? Should I include that? 5. What is the going rate for Entry fees to enter the vehicles into the contests? 6. Do they usually charge spectators, or should we sale raffle tickets as the admission fee?? Those are the main questions. But if I'm missing anything, please let me know your ideas. Thank you so much in advance! I'm excited about this, but also can't remember what all was involved! LOL I just remember sitting next to my truck for hours.
How to get Car Show Sponsors? We are having our first classic car show and i was wondering how would i go about getting sponsors for the event besides just going and asking? Anything i should ask or anything any help would be nice.

Wisconsin- Who will rebuild a classic car for a deserving older gentleman? This is an older man who will do anything for anyone, he has had some health problems and wants to fix up a classic car. The car was originally mine, the last thing my father gave me, he fell in love with it and knowing I could never do the work, he now has it. He says he'll fix it up and we can all drive it. But for him it would be alot of work, he recently had an accident, while working and broke ribs and other, and may never fully recover. He would love to have this car fixed up and be able to drive it. Just the nicest man who deserves to have something done for him. As He has always doen everything for everyone. These shows exist in other states, that will re-model a vehicle, but what about in Wisconsin or will one of these TV shows, pick up a vehicle from Wisconsin. ??? God Bless, we do!!!
Car Shows for dummies... :)? I have a date with a guy next weekend. He is into car shows and wants to take me to one. Only problem, I've never been. Im not a girly-girl, I like the look of certain classic cars, but dont know much else. What should I expect? Do we just go to look at the cars? Am I going to look stupid not knowing anything about engines, makes, years, etc??
What Television Show's can I submit a classic car too for restoration? My Father bought a 1970 Land Rover in Africa Brand new, it has fallen into a sad state of repair. what should i wear to a car show? im 16 girl. Im going to a classic car show with two of my friends. Its by the water and its gonna be about 60-65 degrees tomorrow. What should i wear?
Girlfriend is angry with me because I won't let her drive my classic car...? I own a 1952 Chevy Fleetline hardtop that was given to me by my grandfather last year. I prefer to only drive the car to car shows, or on brief weekend trips during the summer. But my girlfriend wants to drive it to work, or grocery shopping, or out paling with her friends. She has her own car, but she wants to drive my classic. I tell her no all the time because I don't want the car used for day to day use, which causes a lot of fights. I've even offered to buy her a classic car, but she wants mine. She says that if I want to be with her (we're engaged) that I have to accept sharing our possessions. The thing is that she's a hypocrite. She has a tea set that's been in her family for four generations, and I'll say let's pull it down and I'll drink my morning coffee out of it. Of course she gets defensive and says that her tea set and my car are two different things, which tells me that the real issue is that she's a control freak who expects me to cave to her. Am I wrong to keep my car to myself? I mean if she did the slightest damage to it it'd cost me out the butt to fix, and if she wrecked it I don't know that I could easily forgive her. I don't actually want to use her tea set. I just use it as a point to try to show her how the situation is from my perspective.
Tell me some car building tv shows? I don't do TV very much at all, but whenever i am in a motel i like to watch car building shows mainly hot rods and classic restorations. I hate to channel surf but do not know what to look for (as in titles) in the menu. Can anybody tell me some titles.
Property release for car shows? Or indiv'l cars? Do I need a property release signed for hot rods, classic, muscle cars, and other unique antique, vintage vehicles photographed at various car shows this summer and in the past? Do I need to contact certain car clubs to which those cars might belong to and see what they think of this? Not everyone who has displayed their cars at these shows belong to those clubs or any clubs at all, so it's a little difficult to find out who would agree to have their car's photos shown on the web, or images or merchandise sold with images of some cars sold. Do photos of a car show itself where cars lined up for display are photographed to show various angles of the space where cars are located and people walking by looking at them is that also requiring some model/property release? Maybe not. How about up close photos of cars not showing the entire license plate, or no license plate number at all, or just partial shots, or up close detail shots focusing only on the hood ornament, or the grill and one headlight, or from the rear from a low angle only showing driver's side front wheel and front, but where certain shots do not fully expose a car and thus it is unclear or very hard, if not impossible to identify a certain car by one or more characteristics. What do you think?
I need help finding a car show? I want to get my dad tickets to a car show. He loves classic cars, but any car show would be fine. Don't worry about the price. I want it to be a really nice car show. But as long as it ain't like thousands of dollars. It also has to be anywhere in Florida. Thank you :)

what are some of your favorite (unpopular) classic cars? For example, Everyone loves a 1969 Camaro SS or a '57 BelAir, or even a 1979 Trans Am. But what about a 1954 Hudson Hornet, or a 1934 duesenberg? Or even a 1934 Ford with a 1000 horse Hemi? (Yes, I have seen one) What are some of your favorite classics that are not the first mentioned at a car show?
Where online can I sell my classic car? I have a GM 1987 GTA model Trans Am w/ a 5.7 liter 350 cubic inch engine in high-end "show" condition. How do I go about finding the right buyer? Where online can I sell? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
vender's for a car show? We're putting on our 1st annual car show for a non profit organization called SOFTIN. We're Having it at the Earl Warren Show Grounds in Santa Barbara California on July 25th, 2009. I have a couple questions that I need help on. If at all possible. Now I was asked about "vender's". The place is really large and a lot of room for vender's. How many vender's does a custom and classic car show usually have?? How do you find vender's and approach them? Do they need to be "car" related, or would like the Chocolate Gallery be okay?? Any suggestions on who to contact, and what I would say to them? Thanks a bunch!

classic muscle car, need answers from experienced owners.? so im 19, i live in a car family so i am pretty fond of them. i have yet to buy my own car, iv been driving the spare car since i got a license. i know very little about car mechanics, but i want to learn. what i dont know, im sure my uncles/brothers do. for the past year i have been shopping around for quick imports, but they are pretty expensive... so iv thought about maybe buying a running classic and building it up as i can. this way i can learn more and more as i go. iv been looking at cars around 3-6k. here are my questions: is this a good or bad idea, money wise? do you recommend a particular car to look for? when these people advertise these cars as in good condition, does that mean it can be driven daily without problems?(not beating on it). is it normal to install power stearing on these cars? how much would that cost? is building up old domestics cheaper then current imports? i mean performance wise, im not trying to build a show car. i want a quick beater. these are the cars i found so far. http://www.oldcars.com/car2063.html http://www.oldcars.com/car1462.html
Classic car and truck question? I own a 1987 Chevrolet full-size pickup truck that is about to become a classic in a few years. My question is how can I find out, if it is the last of its kind. ’87 was the last model year for the rounded line style pickups. My particular Chevy truck completed assembly in June of 1987, at General Motors manufacturing plant in St. Louis. This is significant because the all new Chevrolet trucks for 1988 started showing up at dealerships in June. This is the only information I have been able to find out using the VIN number and the manufacture’s date on the drivers door. I don’t know if the GM plant in St. Louis still exists or how I can find out, how to tell if the truck is the last one to roll off the assembly line. ANY Information would be helpful. Thanks!
Importing Classic cars from Cuba? Movies and documentaries about Cuba always show fabulous classic cars being driven there. What is the best way (other than traveling to Cuba) to shop for and import a car from Cuba. I do not intend to ship the car to the USA. Any ideas about where to shop, what models i can find and at what prices? Are their any regulations i should be aware of?
Would you believe I just saw James Dean? There is a classic car show in town and I've seen a lot! Yesterday I thought I saw Jon Claude Van Dam in the elevator. I told this gal I really need to put my glasses on no telling what I'd see! Really.
Any good car shows? Are there any good car shows near you coming up? When and Where? I mean Car Shows like all kinds of hot rods and classics parked in the grass, with a beer tent and a couple of concessions. Around me, there are only little cruise night car shows. But I want to enjoy a real one. Give me the details please!
wHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO GET THE YOUTH OF TODAY TO GET MORE INVOLVED INTO CLASSIC CARS? WE NEED THEM TO HELP US.? THE CLASSICS LIKE THE OLD CHEVYS THE OLD FORDS THE OLD CHRYSLER VEHICLE. THEY ARE LIKE 401K S. THE CARS OF TODAY DEPRECIATE WHEN THEY LEAVE THE CAR LOT. ALMOST EVERY DOLLAR INVESTED IN A VINTAGE HAS A RETURN VALUE. ALL YOU GUYS NEED TO DO IS BUY A OLDER VEHICL AND START WORKING ON IT AND SOON IT WILL BE WORTH MORE MONEY THAN WHAT THE ORIGINAL PRICE OF THE VEHICL. WE APPRECIATE SEEING A YOUNG KID AT OUR CAR SHOWS. WE HAVE 1 KID JUST TURN 17 AND WENT OUT AND BOUGHT A 67 PONTIAC TEMPEST CONVERTIBLE SOON TO BE WORTH A LOT OF MONEY
What kinds of local models can you be if your under 18? My dad is really into classic cars, we have a 57 chevy two door sedan and a 55 chevy (I'm not sure what it is.) the 57 chevy is almost finished (he customizes classic cars from the inside - motors- etc) And well once he's done we're going to be going to lots of car shows to show off what we got. I was wondering if I could possibly be a car show model like amatuer like take pictures infront of peoples cars at the car shows, or sign up with a agency from the car show that has you go to certain events and takes pictures of you. I'm only 14 but by the time we start going to the car shows I'll be either almost 15 or 15. my dad IS okay with it. Lol I'm already an amatuer photographer I've been taking photos since I was young.. I'm ready to start doing new things so I can probably get into the modeling industry. But no doubt when I turn 18 I'm going for playboy, and my dad knows that. I was thinking if I wore a dress like this one and take photos in front of cars http://zero-rider.deviantart.com/art/cherry-blossom-52249944 This is my idea of what I would like to be modeling: http://wrightphoto.deviantart.com/art/Custom-Show-07-56332558 http://wrightphoto.deviantart.com/art/Custom-Show-08-56332627 I will give you a thumbs down rating and most definately wont give you the best answer if you talk about pedophiles or if im too young, ive taken those risks before and I don't really care. I'm just asking if its legal if i can do car modeling, and if you have any tips, ideas, or whatever.

Do people in the UK have the same love of classic cars as we do in the U.S? We have appreciation for all makes, both American made and foreign made. My first car was a 1952 MG-TD. It is worth around $10000 today. Most classics here don't operate on the road (too valuable), but do Brits drive their classic Jags, MG's, RR's Aston Martin's daily, or keep them in museums and only bring them out for shows?
Help with VAT on UK CAR TRADERS Vehicles...? Heres a scenario... Lets call the firm "Re-Cars" "Re-Cars" are based in the UK and specialise in the restoration of classic cars. The cars are sourced in the UK and a purchased cheaply from a PRIVATE individual, ((where recipts do not show vat)) The company also purchases lots of materials and tools to restore the cars ((recipts show VAT)).. The vehicles sell from the forecourt. The Company sells ALOT of cars, so much so the TURNOVER is in excess of £150,000 per year, so the company is forced in to bieng VAT Registered.. Hurray... Now the tricky bit... Because the company is VAT Registered.. Do the Cars Sales invoices have to show the VAT?
What is interesting about a partners hobby? My husband collects model cars, and we go to the motor shows with all the classic cars, some how i am also interested now, and i collect porcelain dolls - lol and he bought me a few as well. Do you also find that it interests you as well what his/her hobby is
2 Classic TV shows: make it a HAPPY memory? 1. Both shows are clean. 2. Both shows do not make any references to products. It was not necessary, the film producers felt. 3. The stories are original stories, with possible exceptions in regard to TV shows made in the 40's or before. 4. The shows make obvious commentaries on government control, war, and other human issues not related to race, creed or color. 5. The soundtracks are pleasing, with recurring themes, much like in today's movies. It had a pleasing effect on the viewer. 6. These old TV programs are not "hokey", and command NICE prices. 7. Loyalty and friendship between the main characters. They are friends.. 8. The programs are multiple genre, science-fiction, action, western. 9. The programs have obviously proved their staying power, that they have so much entertainment quality that people still like them after 40(forty) years. 10. The producers and directors of the shows are not using the shows to push their political, cultural, economic or environmental views and goals upon the viewer. In Star Trek war was treated as an ethical issue, usually. 11. Humor was a basic part of the shows. The viewer did not change or turn off the television feeling depressed or that there was no hope. 12. Instead of a reality show, there was a reality check in any program, to remind the viewer it is a TV program, and not reality. 12. There was always a little happy or humorous note at the end of the show. But not always if the story was very serious. 13. The shows are my cure for nostalgia. 14. The babes are finer than any I can think of that Cosmo can. 15. They're both available on DVD, without the used car commercials.

Nascar fans: When you are not watching Nascar what shows do you watch on TV relating to cars.? I mostly only watch shows relating to cars . I am a speed channel lover. My favorites are: Pass Time American Muscle Car (gosh I love this show and could see all episodes 100+ times and never get sick of them) Car Crazy Pinks (though the host annoys me at times along with some of the people he has on the show.) My Classic Car Chop, Cut Rebuild Back in the Day and many more.... There is this show that just came out called “101 Cars You Must Drive” that is cool too.
