Buying a classic car by private treaty after it failed to sell at auction? Hi, let's assume there is a classic car with an estimate of 4000-6000. It didn't sell at the auction and the auctioneer has now put it up for sale by private treaty. The asking price is now 5000, although it didn't sell at auction. Is this usual practice? Would it be a bad idea to get a classic car (60s-70s) as my first? I'd figure it won't cost as much to get a used classic car, especially one that's beat up a bit. That would give me time to work on the car myself, gain some experience along the way, and customize it to my own wants. However, thinking about this makes me feel worried that it's not a safe idea, due to the lack of safety features back then. I'd also have to learn on a manual, which I have no experience on. Wisconsin- Who will rebuild a classic car for a deserving older gentleman? This is an older man who will do anything for anyone, he has had some health problems and wants to fix up a classic car. The car was originally mine, the last thing my father gave me, he fell in love with it and knowing I could never do the work, he now has it. He says he'll fix it up and we can all drive it. Where do I find a classic car? I am looking for a 1968 or 1969 Camaro Z28 SS. I want a project car that I can work on does anyone know of a good place that I can start to look. I would like one that is no more than about $2,000, so I don't really care if it runs. It would need to have a good frame, but everything else can be shot. I have looked on ebay and found one but they wanted $2,300 for one that didn't run didn't have a transmisson rusting floor panels and bent and broken doors and hood panels.
