I bought a car at a police auction. If the car has a lein on it do I have to pay the lein? I found out~ at a sherriffs auction YOU DO HAVE TO PAY A LEIN IF THERE IS ONE !! Thankfully there wasn't one. HOWEVER~ they tell you check with Carfax. CARFAX did not tell us there was/was not a lein on any vehicle we looked up. Sherriff's auction are wonderful- if you are careful- or lucky !!

For a little more than $2k, a county near me is selling a number of former police cars on an online public auction site used by state and local agencies. The following is an example: Year: 2003 Make: Ford Model: Crown Victoria Mileage: 114,817 VIN: 2FAFP71W83X169857 Running Condition: yes Engine: 4.6L Transmission: A4 Tires: 225/60R16 Good Color - White Condition: GOOD The prices range from 2k to 3k right now, depending on mileage. The auction closes in the next hour or two, and I won't get to the physical site of the vehicles before the auction closes. At this price, is it worth putting down $2k for a former police car? I assume that the county has maintained the vehicles fairly well and that they are simply being retired. The pictures of the outside of the cars makes them all appear to be in decent condition and are listed as being in good condition, but there's no way to be absolutely sure. Thanks for your feedback.

I would get a great kick out of filling out a 'police report' and taking a black marker, and crossing out the case # names/addresses of 'people involved', and all other 'important information.' It would read something like this: At 12:03 PM, ------ ------ was sitting in a 1994 Plymouth Acclaim registered to---- ----- in the parking lot of --- ----- Avenue. Victim was killed by 2 gunshots to the chest, according to the Medical Examiner ---- ------- - Officer ------- OK. So would there by anything illegal about this? I can't imagine, since there is actually no relevant information to support anything on this one. I am pretty sure I will get many answers saying 'Yes, I *think* it is illegal.' or 'No, I don't think it is illegal, but I don't know.' Found a bunch of stolen shirts in a car we bought from a police auction. Where do we take them? We bought a car at a police auction for dirt cheap, but it was filled with clothes and a bunch of other stuff. We sorted through the clothes, and found some nice clothes, but some weird stuff too, like thongs and bras. But we did find about 16 Colorado Rockies (a baseball team) hoodies and tee shirts. They're brand new and have the security tag thingy on them. They look stolen, and they're all the same. The value's for the hoodies are 55 and the tee shirts 35. The tag says that they're from Sears, so should we take them back there? Or should we take them to the police we got the car from. No, I'm not keeping them.
