Why can't we buy new cars directly from the manufacturer? I've always wondered about this. Manufacturers charge a certain price to dealerships. The dealerships then sell it to the end consumer for a higher price. Why can't the end consumer simply buy direct from the manufacturer? Even if the price to the end consumer was higher than what is charged to a dealership (to account for the increased cost to the manufacturer for selling directly to end consumers), it would still be way lower than what a dealership would charge to the end consumer. Therefore, the end consumer wins because they're paying a much lower price. The manufacturer wins because they'd be getting the same or better price for each car anyway, and consumers would be much happier. The only losers would be dealerships, who deserve it, because of all the dishonesty, tricks, and games they use. So, why can't we buy direct from the manufacturer?

Best “CHEAP” Fun-Car to buy: A new 2012 Mazda-3 or a used 1999 Porsche Boxster? (both with Automatic)? I want a ‘fun ride’ to drive year round, summer and snowy-winter, but I only earn $30,000 per year in my Engineering job, so when I heard that the Mazda3 will be getting a much improved 2.0 L ‘SkyActive’ direct injection engine and a new 6-speed automatic resulting in 40 mpg HWY (instead of the current 33 mpg HWY ) I was really happy and thought that would be perfect for me. I want to keep the car for at least 10 years and I do a lot of highway miles on it for my commute, plus I travel all over North America on road tours several times a year too, so I need something that will cost very little to run and maintain. My other choice is to buy a ‘COOL’ Porsche Boxster , somewhere around 1999 to 2001, and a good example with 275,000 kms on it cost about $20,000, about the same cost as the new Mazda3 will cost. So what would be a better buy for someone who wants to keep the cost of car ownership to a minimum, should I buy the 12-year old used Porsche with 300,000 km or the brand-new Mazda3 ? ( I don’t want a car that will require a huge amount of cost in terms of maintenance and parts replacement for the next 10 to 12 years. ) ( yes, the new Subaru Impreza for 2012 will be getting a newer fuel efficient engine and CVT transmission and will get 36 mpg on the highway, much better than what it gets now. I was thinking of that too, the hatchback version would be best for me. )
Private used car seller lied about repairs made, any remedy? Can you think of an instance involving a private 2-party transaction, involving a used car, that the law would support injured party in seeking remedy due to misrepresentation of condition and viability of the car sold? This involves claims specifically made (and unsolicited) that certain repairs were made using brand new parts. Since evidence now shows that these parts were not replaced, the stated repairs to address symptoms were never made either. Car is now completely unusable due to the cause of symptoms which seller stated were attended to, and done so using brand new parts. Naturally, without the statement that new parts were used, we'd not have a way to determine whether seller's claim of making repairs were true or not. In GA, any car sold between private parties is sold AS IS, and I understand that. However, I am wondering since during the transaction, explicit statements were made to represent and substantiate viability of the item being sold - and in-fact outright lies told in order to convince me of the viability - fraud occurred resulting in taking money in exchange for a car that was known to have a fatal problem. A problem that would in-fact make the value of the car 90% less than what was paid in the transaction. Facts: Seller purchased car from original owner who sold it because it had been established that the problems she was experiencing was very likely a fatal flaw: blown head gasket. Seller purchased car in the parking lot of the repair shop that the seller had used for the lifetime of the car. Seller was told that the car very likely had a blown head gasket. Seller bought car anyhow and had it towed to his residence. Seller then volunteered, when asked by me and my companions, why the car had a faint antifreeze odor, that he'd "just topped off the coolant." He then said, after acknowledging the comment from buyer that this particular BMW has a history coolant problems, he'd "taken care of EVERYTHING, including: new water pump, new thermostat, new axillary fan, new expansion tank." He then stated that "you won't have to worry, everything has been taken care of." There is NO bill of sale. I was emailed a blank bill of sale with seller's signature and no other information. Proper transfer of title did take place. I took car this past weekend to the repair shop that had serviced the car the entire time the original owner had the car. I explained the situation and learned the facts regarding reason for original owner selling car, how the transaction took place, any interaction that occurred between second owner (our seller) and the repair shop. Repair shop said, to their knowledge, our seller purchased an expansion tank, only. Seller remains unreachable since leaving his house with the car the day I bought it. What I know: I used bad judgment during this transaction. Bottom line is, the transaction is, by default, AS IS. The seller knew the car had serious problems with cooling system and covered up the disposition of said problems by making false and misleading claims which suggested his knowledge of the problem, and the problem was resolved because the seller made the repairs using parts that have now been identified as NOT NEW. A direct contradiction to his claims. So I bought a car that was represented as having a certain viability with specific parts installed (in brand new condition) during repairs to address a severe problem. Subsequently, my understanding of the potentially fatal flaw was that repairs were made to address this issue, and told I didn't need to worry - by the seller. End of story? or do I have a reasonable claim to bring against seller in small claims court? I'd really appreciate any insight into this. As it stands, I have a $7000 BMW sitting in the driveway, and it is now a paperweight. It was my only car and I have no means at all to get another car. He then bought it and had it towed home in order to avoid falling victim to the likely fatal flaw. This is a fact that my Seller was aware of when he purchased the car, but not one I was privy to during my transaction. My Seller was the 2nd owner, and i am the 3rd owner. He failed to disclose this fact, which he was privy to because the Original Owner had the integrity to inform him during the transaction. Essentially, he sold me a car that not only did he fail to disclose critical historical data regarding major repairs, but asserted that he'd actually performed repairs, using NEW parts, that were done as a simple matter of prudence more or less. Rather than disclosing he'd performed the repairs due to information he'd gained during his purchase transaction. When I bought the car, he represe ________________________________ Fraud by failure to disclose: Failed to disclose information to another person when Seller was under a legal duty to disclose that information Seller dishonestly withheld information relevant to the transaction Seller was intending, by that failure, to make a gain or cause a loss. It seems this would be the only potential strategy. Thoughts?

So i went to look at cars and the very first one that i test drove, i bought. A 2002 nissan sentra with 84,500 miles for $7,300. Bad choice. For the moment i felt good. The following week I scraped my 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis. Now I look back and ask myself everyday why did i buy a new used car. Bought it on August 8th. All I had to do was fix the stuff on my other car. Runs through my mind every day. Can not even sleep through the night. Affecting my relationhip with my two kids who I have shared parenting of. A daughter who is 8 and a son who is 5. Also affecting my job, fallen behind on stuff. I keep thinking that if i would of just fxed one thing at a time on my other car i would of been ok. Now i have to pay 250 a month for 4 years for a car i dont even like. I know now that the only reason i bought it was because it had power steering and no cracked windshield. I know i can not turn back time. The mercury had 111,000 miles on it so im thinking stuff is gonna go wrong with it. Always started for me. Is there a service that will save me more on a new car, then if I go and haggle myself? I'm thinking maybe Cars Direct or the Costco auto buying program, or something similar. I'm willing to do the dance with the dealer if necessary to save a buck, but if a web site can do it better and save me the hassle, then why not use it?
Used Car Sales Warranty direct from dealer? My mum bought the new car 2 months ago. from the mitsubshi dealer. she bought it 2 years old with low mileage. She came up with few plms. i kept telling her to take it back to have it put right. as she had warranty for a year i think as the car came with 4 year warranty when bought new i think. She finally took it back and they said she need new brake pads and new brake discs as they are low. my mum only driven the car less than 200 miles in 2 months. that is a short trip to the local shop and to supermarket for daily shopping. due to her pain in legs etc she cant go anywhere much. The dealer said she have to pay for the brake pads and discs. The question is. shouldnt the dealer have had the car checked and ensured it would last longer than 200 miles before the customer comes back to have it sorted? The brakes seem to be low and never inspected. the problem she had was the brakes was shaking when used to slow down, Someone help with the law or something. i am not that good about it. There must be something about used cars that have to be tested safe and drivable. the brakes was hard to brake since she drove home.
Need a temporary insurance for a second car - how to do that in the best way? Hi, I have just bought a new car but I have not sold the old one yet. I am entitled to 9 yrs no claim bonus but I cant use it on the new car as it used on the previous policy. What I have done is I cancelled the old policy (effective from Sunday) and will buy a new one for the new car from Monday morning so I will be able to use my NCB. Now I want to buy a cover the second (old) car for a while as well (third party only) but I'm hoping to sell it so I need a 1-month (or 2) policy. I've found Direct Line will be one of the best for my new car. They also match NCB for the second car if the first one is insured with them. If I take a pay-monthly plan from them and if I cancel after a month or two (once I've sold the old car) - will it work like that? Is the monthly instalment all I'll need to pay? I've just found that buying a new car and still having the old one is a real pain. I've checked so called short term policies but they are tooooo expensive (i.e. £120/month vs. £400/year) :/
NCB and New Car - confused!?!? Hello I've recently bought a third car and I am looking for insurance for it. I've checked with Direct Line a company which one of my other car is currently insured on. The problems is that under the "Please tell us about your additional details" it asks about my no claims bonus entitlement. Does this mean the NCB on the new car or on my other cars? I currently have 9+ years of NCB entitlement. I'm a little confused because this pop up message states:"This no claims discount can only be used on one policy at any one time, and must have been used on a policy within the last two years." Any help will be greatly appreciated!
what car do you know of or recommend that is gas saver and last long.? Im planning to buy a car. new or used. either or. But Im looking for a car that saves gas because me and my husband drives alot. And last long for he drives crazy(sometimes). For what I know of toyota and honda have good cars. but what type? we have a pt cruiser right now that is really good with the gas but breaks easily. Why is UK car road tax calculated by banding a car,rather than calculating it direct-proportionally to the CO2? Wouldn't it be fairer and more logical to have CO2 direct-proportional tax from now on for vehicles registered from April 2010, and increment tax across all bands by the same amount from now on for vehicles registered before April 2010? I was looking at the new April2010 road tax bands which are supposed to be all about more heavily taxing cars with higher CO2 emissions. Why then is it not directly-proportional to the CO2 emission figure? BandB (up to 110g of CO2/Km) tax is £20. Therefore at this rate my modest 9-year old 1.4L car with 149g of CO2/Km should now cost me £27 to tax, not the £125 they will actually be wanting. If I prematurely scrap my 9 year old car (it's only done 45K miles) and buy a new one, it will be far more damaging to the environment as it will mean a load more energy & material will be used to manufacture a new car which I otherwise wouldn't have needed. I was fully expecting tax to increase for existing vehicles, but by the same amount across all bands. This seems totally unfair to me as I have already made by car purchase and the only thing I can do in response is sell/scrap my car, neither of which will help the environment. To rub salt in, my car is 1 year too young to qualify for the £2K scrappage scheme, but only just falls in date for the CO2-based road tax rules which are getting tougher on more polluting vehicles (my car was reg 15/3/01). Having said all this it's only £5 more than last year, but people with cars in lower bands will actually be saving £30 in 2010. I have a tranny problem and the only thing I am interested in is replacing it altogether. See the issue is I also own a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo VIN# 4S2DM58W8Y4327458 as a direct result of the downed Jimmy. My wife for her own reasons wants me to get rid of them both. I'm down with that, I really am but here's the scoop... *Skip to So cutting to the chase* if you need not hear the entire story... The Jimmy was my first new car I ever bought in High School and fully paid for. That SUV has gone to hell and back for me and never missed a beat until I screwed it up. All the construction jobs I ever had, all the tools she's held and after football night parties we've had together. Not to mention my mom cosigning for me at the time trusting me to make my payments. Therefore, there is a tremendous amount of sentimental value with that vehicle and my wife will simply never understand. To replace the downed jimmy until I could get it fixed I purchased a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo. Both cars have one thing in common, they will NOT stop running unless I foul something up. Even with this fact, she wants them gone. It's a new age and I understand that so I'm down. But I also understand the value of getting a little something out of your investment. See she pretty much wants me to give away both of our only mode of, more then two, ways of transportation. I ride a 2008 Kawa ZZR600 and she has a moped. If I got rid of them both, that would only spell more trouble down the line... buying a new car - gas consumption concerns? I am in Thailand and want to know what to expect - I currently have a 1.6 liter engine that is quite good on gas but uses gasohol which is more expensive than diesel. If I move up to a 2.5 liter diesel, considering that diesel is abt 20% less expensive - can I figure this on a direct math level or is there more involved?
Which car should I take?? I'm planning to drive from Southern California to New Orleans (Louisiana) next week.? I'm going with my girlfriend to visit her family there. We haven't decided whether we should take my car or hers. Mine is Honda Accord 08 which I bought as new, and hers is a 06 accord that she got as used half a year ago. Both of our cars are the basic LX model with no additional options. I'm insured with Unitrin direct auto (not well-known company), and her car is insured with AAA. Whichever car we choose, we are going to get a checkup before we leave. It's better to choose my car for bigger space and better driving, but lets say if anything happens to the car on the way, AAA will be much more reliable and reachable than Unitrin... The average miles are the same, so its really hard to pick one car over the other.. I know AAA is more reliable, but my car itself is better than hers,, so wouldn't it be safer to bring a newer car that has less potential for a breakdown? I know they are just two Honda Accords only differ by 2 years.. but this is our first extreme long driving trip, and want to make sure and plan before. Thank you !!!

Why aren't people upset about their tax money being used this way as they are about their tax money being used to pay for someone else's health care?
Rough estimate for Car Insurance Cost For Second Year? Hi peeps. I Have a question about car insurance. I am basically looking for qualified guesses from people who have previous experience with this sort of thing. I am a first year driver. Im 21 and i passed my test in early August and was driving straight away because i had bought my car the month before hand. The car i own is a 1.4 Ford Fiesta Zetec 2002. I paid around £1250 for the year for insurance and i did it through Quinn Direct. My question is, does anybody know a rough figure of what it might be next year baring in mind i have never claimed? I have tried running new quotes on comparison websites but they are based on new customers and all come out at around £1500 to £4000 If anyone has used this company or even another company and situation was similar could you please tell me the rough figure of what it was reduced to/from just so i can maybe have an idea of what to expect Any help is greatly appreciated. will using a more powerful direct drive air compressor to an air horn make it louder? im getting a new horn in my car that needs a direct drive compressor and have the option of buying one that puts out about 10 psi or one that puts out about 25 psi. will more psi make the horn louder, or will i not notice much of a difference.

Questions about bankruptcy, car payments, and debt.? I am interested in filing for bankruptcy. Last summer I bought a car and a week later my husband lost his job. I got a medical loan to help with a medical procedure last fall and got a new credit card to help pay the difference since we'd had about 2 months without his income. After this I found out he had relapsed and has been using our money to buy drugs (he had been clean several years before we got together). For a while his paychech was on direct deposit into our joint account, which is now severely overdrawn because of his bad checks. Now he has his own account and I can't access it and therefore can't pay the bills. I recently lost my job and despite the fact that I am a great employee, well educated, polite, and professional I can't find work. My life has come crashing down and I am seriously considering bankruptcy. I haven't made the best decisions but I've tried my hardest and I don't know what else to do. My questions are: 1. If I file for bankruptcy do I have to sell my things, will they be taken in order to pay for our debts? I do have some items of monetary value but they all have tremendous sentimental value to me and you can pry them out of my cold dead hands before you can take them from me and sell them. 2. Can I keep making payments on my car and keep it? I live in the country, I need my own transportation no matter what or I'm stranded. 3. What about this recent debt, I know November was not that long ago for eveyone else but for me it feels like a lifetime has passed, is this too recent to be wiped clean? How good are the odds in getting a loan from my bank? My car was totaled, a car that was apparently worth less than what I still owed on the loan, I have no money saved up to get a new car, I had to turn in the rental today and I am at a total loss on what to do about getting a new car. So I thought of checking into small personal loans from my bank to flat out buy a used car. The minimum for personal loans for used/new cars is $5000. I would be fine with that as I have already seen decent cars for cheaper than that...I just can't outright buy anything right now. The thing is, I have bad credit and up until last month I had overdrafted my account each month (I get paid once a month with direct deposit), mainly because I was struggling to pay my car payment once my bf lost his job. So with the combo of bad credit AND the overdrafting, would it be a complete waste of time to try to get the minimum personal loan from my bank or should I try somewhere else that they at least don't know I've overdrafted each month for a good little while now. I've finally broken that cycle though. I don't really have any assets because my car is now totaled and I rent my house, I don't have any kind of savings account. My Car has done over 90k but has a brand new engine.. can the mileage be set again to 0? I have an '01 1.8 zetec ford focus, It's don't about 92,000 miles, and last week the engine blew. Been told by the garage that something in the timing seized and the valves are all bent. Instead of writing a huge cheque, I've bought a NEW engine (quite cheap and 0 miles.. never used) that is exactly the same as the old one for a direct swap. Now how will this affect the mileage of the car? My own thoughts say that it won't, but the new engine will allow the car to do another 90k without many more problems hopefully and would make it worth a fair bit more.. BUT technically, after another 90k the car will technnically have done 180k.. which.. is a fair amount for this type of car and would make it worth very veyr little. Any insight? I bought a second hand car yesterday and today I noticed a chip on the windscreen. What should I do? Yesterday, I spent the most I've ever spent on a car, to get some peace of mind, instead of my usual worries about breaking down, or frequet repairs on an ancient car, costing a fortune. So I've been getting used to my new, flash motor, when today I noticed a chip on the windscreen. I'm guessing it must've been there before - I'm assuming I would notice if something flew at the windscreen and chipped it. I trusted the car dealer...for example, he pointed out the small bit of rust. If he knew about it, did he have a duty to tell me if he had noticed it? Is it risky if I keep driving with a chipped windscreen? I mean, will it shatter? Should I ring the car dealer and confront him? Am I making too much fuss? I can't spend any more money for the time being..I can't get a free repair, as my insurance is still 3rd party...are DIY kits any good? I feel disappointed, as I finally thought I'd got a car that would be ok for a while and not have to visit a garage and spend money for a while...I'm now thinking I may have to get a new windscreen...Any advice? The chip is not in my direct line of vision by the way...I've heard chips are risky in cold weather...or is that just Autoglass hype...one last thing...know any good glass repairers in manchester UK? Can sparks plugs cause a car to need a new engine? I have a 2000 Saturn LS1 with a 2.2 Ecotec...The car ran fine up until I changed the spark plugs..The reason for changing them was because I was drivin 1900 miles and thought I might change them to be on the safe side. Now my car uses no wires because it's a direct injection. It has an ignition coil and module. Anyway, I took the old ones out, put new ones in and at first the car took longer to start and when it did it was noisy (kinda like a light hammering sound) and it idled terrible, shaking and what not. I bought a new coil and module which was $300 and nothing..After that it wouldn't start. Towed it to the dealer and they said there was no compression in cylinder 2 and 45% in cylinder 4...They ruled out a blown head gasket and they said it could be a valve stuck open but won't know unless the went in the engine...They just told me to get a new motor..Now I've never heard of spark plugs damaging engines like that..Any advice? I need a second opinion.
For those good with car alarm install/removal...question...? I bought a car and ended up dropping the alarms remote and it broke. I tried buying a replacement remote but the alarm just refuses to go into program/learn mode so the new remote is basically useless. I don't know what model the alarm is exactly but it is an Automate alarm from Directed Electronics. I was wonder, if I went out and bought a basic Viper alarm (also from Directed Electronics) would it be possible to just switch out the alarm brains and use the wires that are already installed from the previous alarm? Reason I ask is they're both from the same company just one is called Automate and the other Viper.
Could I be needing a new turbo in my car...this sound like it? I have a 2001 VW jetta 1.8T with 123,000 miles the ECU has be remapped/reprogrammed, this was done about 60,000 miles ago stock boost would hit 7psi APR programming hits 18 psi boost what's happening now is I have to feather the gas keeping the boost under 5 psi or it will shutter and cough ( the boost will not hold) unless.....I floor it...it will hit full boost and hold it but there is no in the middle? does this sound like my turbo is going? also I'm thinking about upgrading to one of the Audi TT turbo options which is a direct fit should I rebuild with Audi TT KO4 tubo parts, buy a used one or get a bigger turbo if I need to thanks..... The car was turbo charged factory...it has a small intercooler stock... yes it could be fuel but then why at low boost and not high boost does it hicup??? I'm still thinking the turbo fins could be bent and need rebuilt I know a lot about cars but I appreciate any advice and will consider all points and opinions FYI??? I have been able to register my car in Ca state since past year and half? what should i do? here is my story>>i m confused, frustated, angry, and name it..i purchased my car land rover from a dealer close to my place. BTW state is CA...anyway I bought this used car with only 5000 miles on it...it is dealers resposibilty to take care of the registration...the dealership exchanged hands, and the original dealership submitted wrong paperwork to the DMV and the DMV got suspicious and requested additional paperwork and requested veh verification...i have taken the car 3 times to the DMV ...for the verification...but nothing happened...so the new owners is directing me to the old dealership...and i got frustated...and called the Land ROver Corporation..anyway they are all pointing fingers at different directions and i am so confused that I dont know what to do? Toyota Corolla 2005 LE Tensioner bolt stripped out threads? This is my first experience with Toyota LE, i had bought the car three month ago from a private seller (the dealer was middle man) for 6900. They showed me the broken point of bolt where some substance was used to glue or something...i used to feel wobble at stop-lights sometimes, but i thought it was "early start" problem I went into long arguments with manager, because they weren't replacing bolt due to liability issues. The thing was this that if there were liability issues and they knew history, then why did they opened up the timing cover etc at the first place (the $800 solution that they proposed)....After long discussions etc, i just got it towed back home and no payments were done to toyota dealer. I was surprised to see that everything was open when car reached home... they didn't put the stuff back in its place... and now the timing cover is off, the water pump, head gasket etc was never put back.... My question is this, would the mechanic be able to use helicoil...is it reliable? what about timeserts...? What should i do
Getting a personal auto loan with an existing auto loan out...? Hey, I have an auto loan right now for a used car. I am going to be selling this car when I get a new truck but can't sell it first as I need it for work everyday and can;t take the chance of not getting a vehicle. I found the truck I want through a private owner and wanted to get a loan for it and buy it than sell my car I have now. I am 22 years old and have good credit...paid my car payment through direct withdrawl on time every month for over a year, paid off students loans, paid on credit cards every month, and stuff like that. The loan I am asking is for the same amount I purchased my car for. Do you think it would be a problem for me to get the loan as I already have one out, or is there any tips for me to help get this loan or any advice. Thanks alot!
How can I cope with removing my mother from my life? Over the past my mother and I have been on again off again friends and/or enemies. I am 32 years old, married and have a child of my own. My mother and I no longer live together but she likes to tie things to my life that she can use like a carrot to direct how I live. The most recent example. My grandfather passed away in 05' and when my mother got the money from his death she bought herself a car and me a car. She said that as long as I don't get into accidents, keep up the insurances and tags that the car is mine. I took this deal at the time because our family car was falling apart and my husband needed to continue working. She used to continually use this new vehicle as leverage over me, telling me what and how I should live or she'll take it away. We've never had enough fiances to get our own and just give her back the van and be done so I've had to bow down. Our last argument was too much though. She tried to tell me how to parent. She texted me saying that she'd like to take my son and I to breakfast. I told her fine but that I didn't have the money so it would be just her and my son and I'd join them later after breakfast. The next day she texted and said she was going to be late, I said that was fine, my son wasn't hungry yet. She texted again two hours later. Again she said she was running behind and again I told her that was fine because my son wasn't hungry yet. Sometimes he eats me out of house and home and other times he's just not hungry much. It's all a part of growing, he's 5. So at 10am she proceeded to yell at me over texts. Saying that I'm starving my son and any good parent would sit him down and make him eat. I told her I refuse to force feed my son. When he is hungry, he eats. When he is full, he stops. Simple as that. So she said 'we'll try again later when you actually decide to be a real parent to him.'. So I said no, after that comment you don't get to see him today and keep with the attitude and you won't see him next week either (as they are together every Sunday). A week and a half passed and she texted again and said to give her the keys to the van, it was the last straw and she's taking it back. I cleaned out the van, gave her back the keys and as I did so both my husband and I explained to her that she is hurting his ability to go to work, my ability to bring groceries into the home and our son's ability to go to school. She didn't care and took the keys anyway. After that we both told her she wasn't welcome back in our home. Getting back at me is one thing, hurting our whole family is another. I don't regret my choice at all but I'm finding it hard all the same to deal with the thought of removing my mother from my life, which I have done. She is manipulative, hurtful and vengeful so is little more than a poison to us yet still.. she's my mother. Not sure how to cope with this loss, it's almost as if she died.
Looking for a new Bank - Who do you recommend? I have a checking & savings account with a smaller regional bank in the Cincinnati area. I never go to the bank - I pay 90% of my bills online and use my debit card for all purchases -- essentially, I rarely have paper money and rarely write a paper check. I recently had what I will call a very bad experience with my bank which resulted in me paying $190 in overdraft fees. Since then I've been shopping around for a new bank. The ones I've looked at haven't really impressed me - they seem to be no different than my current one. So, I turned my eye to the online banks (ING & ALLY being the 2 that I looked into the most) As for the overdrafs -- Let me vent -- I get paid one time per month via direct deposit at midnight on the last business day of the month. My paycheck's funds are not available right at that moment -- they are in pending status for 1 day and then are available the next day. On the same day my 6-month insurance premium was pending as well as 7 debit card transactions from that evening (dinner, target, gas station, etc -- very small transactions). I had assumed that the bank would have processed the pending transactions in the order they 'came in'. So, I thought my check would have processed first, and then my insurance, and then the 7 small transactions from that evening. Well, assumption wrong -- the bank processed the insurance premium payment, then the 7 debit card transactions, and lastly they posted my check. Because of this, I ended up with 5 overdrafts, which cost me a little less than $200. So, I call the customer service line -- and they inform me that back in July 2010 I clicked 'No Thanks' on overdraft protection & that they could not help me with crediting the fees -- that it was up to the discretion of the branch where I opened my account. Had I "signed up" for the overdraft protection I would have been notified & afforded a 1 day grace period to rectify the issue before any fees were charged. There were other optional features like applying for their credit card, automatically pulling money out of your savings account, etc -- but the 1 day grace period option required nothing more than saying OK. No application, nothing -- so why not sign all your customers up for that automatically? In my opinion, its like buying a new car and the dealer asking if you would like the (optional) seat belts and airbag! OK -- venting over -- This entire ordeal has left a bad taste in my mouth (can you not tell by my manifesto!) -- I'm looking for a new bank & am leaning towards ING Online, but I'd like to get other people's ideas & thoughts on this. Also -- if anyone is a banking industry expert -- is it common place for banks to process transactions in that order?

Relationship is friendship based, but is he just keeping me on the back burner, or is he for real? I really like this guy that I've known now for about 3 years. We have a working type relationship together, but I live in NY and he lives in NC. He's expressed to me through countless texts and phone calls that he was interested as well. But lately, he 's been pretty distant and not very communicative. He explained himself very well, and said that he is not very talkitive lately, and that he is like this. This person, sent me a picture of himself countless times, one of himself with his grandparents, and one from work. He is very direct and to the point, however, I feel that he should make more of an effort to want something more with me, especially since he explained that he would "love to come visit me in NYC"...but he hasn't mentioned it again for about 2 weeks...and he isn't as endearing as he used to be. Our lines of communication is primarily via text. He also, says that he "HATES TALKING ON THE PHONE"...and that he doesn't stay in touch even with his closest friends, sometimes for months at hand. Is this something that southern guys just do? Or just him? Because he's not the only person I know that acts that same way, and he's from the south too. He's not a bad man, or liar. He doesn't have anything to gain by telling me that he feels the same way about me, as I do him...meaning that we really like each other...but he is also very different from what I'm used to. And also, he says he's not ready for a serious relationship, and can't tell me when he will be. He got out of his last one in June of 09 and has gone on dates, but then told me back in Oct/Nov that he was going to stop because he didn't like the "getting to know you faze of the dates...and it was getting too expensive for him". So, then in December, I mentioned to him that if he was dating again, and he says that he isn't because he has no time. He is very busy on his days off, but doesn't get into detail either. Sometimes, he'll tell me, but I don't like to pry. We aren't a couple, so he doesn't owe me anything...but he knows my sentiments, and I now his. His focus right now, as he's explained to me is, financing a new car, buying a new home, and making more money. So am I crazy for thinking that he's stringing me along, or is he just taking care of his life, and I should give him his space; maintain our friendship, be there for him when he needs me, and hopefully he'll come around to making a more obvious relationship move? Oh, yeah, and by the way, my company is relocating me to NC-the very site of where he works, and we may actually be working together...so what do you think about that? Can you drive a semi-automatic on a manual UK licence officially and legally? I recently bought a car with a semi-auto, or ACS (auto clutch system), transmission. Although I hold a full UK manual licence (so have manual & auto entitlement), this has sparked some debate between me and my friends as to whether a car like this can be legally driven on a UK auto (class:b auto) category driving licence. I started with a Google search. And it seems that this question is shrouded with confusion. So I looked on DVLA, direct.gov and the Driving Standards Agency web sites and still drew a blank. I find this bemusing as more and more cars are being produced with this kind of gear box option. Often called tiptronic, something-else-tronic, flappy paddles etc. A lot of forums revealed confusion over what a semi-automatic or ACS is. Many contributors often referring to it being an automatic with a D (drive setting) and some selection control. Like the 1,2,3 settings on some Mercs I've had that allow the selection of 1st, 2nd or 3rd to help when traction is a problem like in snow or mud. This isn't a semi-auto at all. Semi-auto has no Drive setting. It always requires manual selections of the correct gear for the conditions, although using different gear selection techniques and removing the manual depressing of a clutch pedal. It still has a clutch but this is operated automatically by the car's systems. As an ex-driving instructor, from when semi-autos were just a new option on cars like Ferraris, I regard this as a manual transmission. Clutch operation is only 20-30% of the extra skills applied when driving a manual car when compared to an automatic. Having had this ACS car for almost a month now, it actually requires new skills I'm now learning as you can't introduce the road speed to the new selected gear as smoothly as you can in a manual when changing down for junctions and conditions. Hill starts are also still to master. As is maneuvering in tight spaces. However, also from the point of view of an ex-driving instructor, it wouldn't surprise me if these were officially legal to be driven on an auto licence. Given the strange ways the DVLA applies law and policy. Does anyone have a link to any official line on this question? If you found this question because you need to know the answer to this question because you are an auto licence holder considering buying a semi-auto, my advice is you get it in writing from the DVLA or DSA and triple check it with your insurance company. I wouldn't take any chances as you could possibly find yourself illegal and uninsured (therefore illegal again) in the event of an incident. Please don't just take bloke-down-the-pub's word for it, or even your driving instructors. (I know, instructors are often just as confused on these finer points). Laptop wiped out by Virtumonde. Can I just install a new Operating System? I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop (Windows XP)about a year and half old. I don't use it frequently so I don't want to put a lot of money into it to fix it. Computers are like cars to me, I know how to operate it but not take it apart and fix it. My entire Oper-Sys has been wiped out by the virus...#*&!&$##^@)*#*#!!!! I think it's "the blue screen of death" from Virtumonde. It started with an AntiVirus2009 that just seems to have gutted my laptop. I have nothing on the screen but a blinking dash mark. I managed to get it to open up one time and there was nothing left, no system restore, no files, nothing. Then the whole system closed down and all I have is a screen with a flashing dash mark, nothing works, nothing happens. I bought the system direct from Dell and there was never any Oper-System disks that came with it. -?- I've contacted Dell, but to no avail. It was impossible to get anywhere with them. I use my desk-top for nearly everything, but I do like to use the laptop occasionally for leisure use. I just don't want a huge bill for taking it into the shop. Can I just go buy Windows Vista and install it? Can that work? I had good virus protection, but it got through anyways...Is the virus still in my laptop? In this situation is it fair to pay the rent? Here's the story....sorry if it's a long read. I've lived with my fiance with his mother and her fiance for over a year now. I had first stayed over because my shower at my house was broken. Then I had stayed because my fiance's depression over time (after a car accident) got worse and honestly his mother's pressure on him to get a job is not making it any better. If I leave he will get even more depressed, and he desires I do not leave for he has no way to get to my house. Between all of us who live together at the moment, in the past we've have decided that it was not a burden for me to stay and that I would never be asked to pay rent for it is my fiance's responsibility. Then months passed and my mother helped me get a temporary job so I can pay to go back to school. Then my fiance's mother asked if I could pitch in for rent. I had stated that I couldn't because I always had helped my mom with paying for her stuff. ( I have a very sick mother and sister at home who takes frequent visits to the doctor) I told her that I had planned my first pay check to go to purchasing a new car for my family because JUST last week it was in a car accident and it needs to be fully replaced with a whole new used vehicle. Plus my paycheck won't come in for weeks because I just started working. So you see this conversation only happened because I was hired. Her knowing this and attempting to seem that she understood had then said . " Well can you and [fiance] help with the laundry, then?" In which I said yes. "then?" ...was this hinting I was not doing enough to please HER? She needs to understand that she already has someone who helps her pay for things (her fiance) and that I bring my own food from my house to feed my fiance and I. I had never asked them to do my laundry she offered long ago. I was not bothered by the task of laundry ( tho it is placed on top of washing dishes, going to work and home late, and helping my family with their problems, and making sure I can get my fiance and I on our feet.) But the passive- aggressive way she mentioned it made me feel like I was the bad guy for caring for what takes priority over her (my direct family members). I was thinking of moving back home with my fiance once I got the job but work is just a walk away compared to home where I have no car. Then this happens. Not to mention that three days before that she nonchalantly had admitted to using a sinfully dirty cutting board to her own son. We were both disgusted and finally knew why we were having stomach pains for more than a year every time we ate their food. Now his mother has it out for me because after our conversation I had went to rely it to my fiance saying " The new rules of the house, because I have a job now. We will be doing our own laundry. okay?" He responded " okay" not really bothered by it. Then she comes back into the room to say that not what she said interrupting me. It's not exactly what she said but that is the TRUTH. because she could not claim my first paycheck she decided to pull a passive-aggressive move to please her own hunger. I am this close to posting pictures of the nasty cutting board she used to cut our dinner on. Overdraft help from a Regions Rep.? Okay so I recently went over (completely by accident...I know you hear that all the time), but the thing was I had given school some money late December and got paid December 31st so early Jan. I looked at my account again and saw that I had a decent amount in there so gave the school some more (have to pay off to start next sem. classes). I didn't realize that the last time I paid them hadn't gone through yet so I thought I was "comfortable" in money. Then I got my oil changed ($60)and my new used car was found out to have no antifreeze and only water and my radiator was frozen so I ended up having to replace an water pump plus buy antifreeze (another $100) so last week when I got my monthly statement I was freakin out and worried I might have over drafted, and since I'm currently out of a car I wasn't able to check it again until last night before my check (direct deposit) went in and I'm about $350 in the red. What can I do to get ANY (if not all) overdraft fees waived? I've only got like $200 to last me two weeks with car insurance and textbooks coming out of this check too! Any help is a great relief!!

I want this to be as factory looking a swap as possible and i also want it to work flawlessly. I want it to run as if i was driving the car it came out of. I know the transmissions are different does this mean also that the Hub spline for the CV joint is different. What type of vehicle should I buy? I was recently in a wreck where I totaled my car. It was an audi tt and by far the best thing i've ever owned! but sadly its gone and i need something new. I am moving to Portland Oregon this summer and have no idea what to get. I was thinking about a 4x4 suv or something for the terrain in oregon, it will definitley come in handy in the winter for skiing and other outdoor things but will be most likely bad on gas mileage. I was also just thinking of something smaller and more reliable. Anything i get is a downgrade from before so something kinda sporty or at least somewhat masculine would be great. Safety is another big issue with me now as well. Really, I'm willing to look at whatever. It will definitely need to be a used vehicle and nothing over 15k. Do I need 'Sirus Connect' for a satellie ready car stereo? Hello, I am currently using Sirius through an FM Modulator in my Jeep. I will be buying a new stereo soon, and want one to hook my Sirius directly into. I have been told I will need an extra $100 part, but I still want to use my Sirius unit, not the display on my car stereo. I don't want to continue with the FM modulator though, because I have lost my FM stations. Do I need this box, or do these type of car stereos have RCA jacks on the back, thereby allowing a direct connection with the existing Sirius unit?

Can a car dealership force me to finance through them? I have negotiated and secured a price for my vehicle. Before I started shopping I secured my finnacing through direct lending with Capital One. Now the dealership is refusing to accept this, and saying that unless I pay cash (certified check) they will not allow outside financing of the vehicle. Is this legal? This sounds incredibly shady and is very unethical considering I have mentioned multiple times throughout the process that I planned on using my own finance company. A message to all who have online affairs.? I notice that many questions here revolve around spouses who have affairs on the internet. I would like to make a broad statement directed to those who participate in this form of infidelity. First of all, someone you meet online will obviously be more appealing than the spouse you see every day. Think about it, this new person has never nagged at you, left the seat up, argued with you over finances, etc. etc. Yes, your online Romeo or Juliet is PERFECT! If you don't believe me just ask them (or read their profile). They will always describe themselves as loving, loyal, understanding, fun, and don't forget....have a great income. After all, a person this loyal and wonderful couldn't possibly have used the same sweet words and charm on anybody else. You're probably the first person they've ever talked to seriously on the internet anyway. Don't be concerned if their conversation always seems to go in the direction of sex. In closing I would like to tell a story. I once had this old car. It was great when it was new but after a few years I started seeing new cars that had more appeal. My old car was reliable but I was bored with it. I test drove a few new cars and they were much better than my old car. Finally I took the plunge and bought the perfect new car. It drove great, ran great, and looked great...for a while. After a few months I noticed it was developing more rattles than my old car. My milage went downhill considerably as well. Then came the door dings and scratches. One day my wonderful new car broke down and while I was waiting there for the tow truck I saw my old car pass by. It was still going while my new car had died. I stood there wishing I still had that old car because even though it wasn't as shiny, it was steady and reliable. This could never be, however, because someone else now owned and loved the car that I was once bored with.
Should I purchase a Ford or a Volkswagen? I plan to buy a new car within the next six months. I am open to the idea of owning another used car but only if it comes with a warranty. I am looking to get either a Ford model or VW. Right now I own a Chevrolet and would love to buy another American car (for no other reason than to buy American) but it was such a POS that it's difficult for me to trust any American car makers. A question about W-4 tax things? I currently would make a projected $27,420.00 ($2108.00ish per month) in 2011 this usually equates to about 869.00 per pay period (bi-weekly) if I worked at 40 hours 52 weeks per year. This does not include what 1/4 incentives I MAY earn, holiday pay or overtime (not usually). I have no children, no spouse or live in partner. I currently claim 2. 1 for myself and 1 for being single with one job. As it stands right now month to month I pay 675 for rent, 464.12 for car and insurance, 300 in student loans and an astronomical amount for gas. MY QUESTION is can I claim exempt for just one or two months this year (2011) to catch up and then put it back at 2. I don't care if I have to balance it out in exemptions in tax season I just had to buy this new to me/used vehicle (not a hybrid) with a deferred down payment and after doing my budget I simply just don't have a single penny to spend on food or for a security in case gas runs low. LET ME POINT OUT THIS: I DO NOT EAT OUT, I DO NOT GO OUT, I do not smoke, drink or pay any monthly dues to convenience/leisure services nor do I have any credit card debt. I am staying home except to drive to work and back. I just need some more sustenance than ramen (once per day). IF everything was due on the 1st and I got all $1700ish at once I would be fine. what to do with my family? so my parents bought me a car a year ago just so that i didnt think badly of them. since they bought a car for each of my brothers and not me. unlike them i paid for my own insurance and its under my name and so its 87 dollars a month . i pay for my own parts unlike them and on Tuesday i bought 4 brand new tires. the stole my keys from my room on Wednesday and drove my car while i was asleep. i work at night so i come back at 7am. so they technically stole my car. then they got into a wreck. said they would pay for it to get fix but all they did was buy a door that was not even for my car and the window wont go down . and put it on. and expect me not to be angry. water and air gets in and the fender is messed up and the passenger door on the left as well. the car started making noises and air and heater doesnt work as well now either. i told them to fix it and they wont. i dont know what to do. i live technically rent free here with them but then again when i was working before i made around 1500 to 1700 a month only using around 475 a month and the rest was direct deposit into my mother and my bank account. a year and half later i wanted to get a computer and my mother told me i was broke cause she used it all. and i had to get one that was around 600. so the rest she pocketed. not to mention whenever i came back i wasnt allow to eat any of their food and still not . so all that money i had to just let go since i didnt know what i can do . now i am wondering how i can get them to fix my car. and if i they refused to fix it can i like sue them to fix my car. they are saying i have to pay back the 3000 they paid for my car but that meants they have to give me back everything i put into the car. i tried to hide my keys but they dont listen to it. they have done worse thing than this to me by the way. this is just the latest one

Speed Dating Online, have you tried it? I'm a young guy, 23, reasonably attractive, outgoing, and all that, but I move around a lot on trips, new to the area, and am LTR orientated; my divorce was a year ago, and since then the adult dating life is new to me. I try to stay positive by recognizing that the women I meet even though they are horrible matches, have at least provided me with something unique, or interesting, and the experience alone has been worth it... What I'm trying to say is in the subject of relationships it's hard to be anything but optimistic; in the bars and online dating women are hit on by so many men that it's like buying from a used car lot, no matter what the thing you pay for will be over priced and have hidden parts ready to break down, and at any possible freaking moment will blow up in one's face. Oops, I'm getting off subject - have you tried the online speed dating? I thought maybe it'd be better. I hate online dating websites, but maybe with the focus being less on the disillusions of abstract profiles and more just direct face-to-face contact, it may bring the human element back into the picture.
Going to the doctor once my insurance kicks in...? Going to the doctor once my insurance kicks in...? I'm kind of wanting to vent a little bit but also get other people's opinions. I'm 22 years old, I don't smoke or do any kind of drugs, etc. From about 18 years old, I've experienced low self esteem, depression, no luck in relationships with women, etc. I always did fine in school, never got in trouble at home or with the law. I used to be a pretty well-balanced kid. Lately, I've just had these pent up feelings of frustration, anger, anxiety, and I always express those feelings in a violent and vicious way. I very rarely got angry at between ages 18 and 20 and if I did, I was able to control it easily. Soon after I turned 20, I bought a new car (this sounds pointless but I'm just going by a time line so I remember correctly) and a couple months into that, I was having some problems with it. Anyway, I'd basically lose my temper in the car, punching the steering wheel, driving violently, etc. At that time, I was working a full time job and was experiencing some stress over there. At some point, I got into it with a female co-worker and began yelling curse words and other things around her but it was directed towards her. That was something I never had done with anyone before. I had always stressed out about being single, too. I went through many girls that were only around for maybe a month each and it began kind of break my self esteem down. Then, in January 2008, I met my current girlfriend. Everything was fine until about April 2008 when I completely whacked out, turned angry and emotional, and was "baker acted" because of my bullsh!t. Ever since that time, I felt like something inside of me died. And sicne then, I've gotten worse and worse. I've lost my temper around my family and my girlfriend so many times, I've put them both through hell and back, I've mistreated my girlfriend the most. With my girlfriend, it started with arguing, progressed to heated arguing, progressed to yelling, progressed to violent outbursts, verbal abuse and even physical abuse. Just this past Friday, I got angry at her because, in my opinion, she wasn't into the sex that we were having. I totally lost control of myself, trashed the bathroom with her lotion, slapped her across the face and yelled at her, and then I turned my abuse on myself and beat myself in the face with my bare hands, giving myself black eyes, a sore head and swollen cheeks/eyes. And after all of that, my girlfriend was wiping my nose and blood that was on my face and was caring for me like a mother. This girl has proven to me that she will be by my side through thick and thin, for better or for worse, and yet I throw it all back in her face. She said she is fed up with me and my behavior and that I need to get help and straighten myself out. We live together, by the way. So, I turned in my insurance papers at work and once that kicks in, I'm going to the doctor to have some blood drawn and to see if anything in my body is off balance. My sister has a hormone imbalance and I believe my dad does, too, along with hypothyroidism. So maybe I have the same or similar problems. I'm sorry to make this so long and jumbled together but I just want other people's honest opinions. I want help, I want to live a normal and happy life with my girlfriend and treat her the way she deserves to be treated. For her birthday coming up, I have a special present for her this weekend and I know she will love it and she has no idea what it is. But, in a fit of anger, I threatened to cancel it and I almost told her what her present was. And when I planned this, I had the intention of keeping it a secret. I don't plan things for her only to take them away. I'm not really that kind of person. But that's what I'm becoming. My girlfriend knows the real Nick, but she rarely gets the real Nick. Well, I'm not made of money and waiting for the insurance to kick in is way cheaper than paying big doctor bills and possibly big money for any kind of medications I may need. And, yes, shame on me for hitting my girlfriend. It's not fair to her. =( And she doesn't deserve it. She gets the brunt of all of my sh!t. My girlfriend and I live together. I mean, I could stay at my parents for a while but I'm not interested in that. And I'm defintely waiting until my insurance starts up so that I don't have to pay any ridiculous amounts of money. As for family history, I know my dad has a thyroid problem. My mom is fine and my sister has a hormone imbalance. As for grandparents, I know my Pops (dad's father) had anger issues when he was first married to my Nanny and they had 4 kids. He was stressed out from jobs and money problems back then. But I don't know about any actual illnesses or mental health problems. I'm not sure if my family would even know, anyway. By the way, my girlfriend and I used to be pretty sexualy active, sometimes we'd have sex every day of the week, take a 1 or 2 day break and then keep going. But for the past 3 weeks or so, she said she hasn't wanted me or desired me sexually because of my behavior. She said it's a big turn off and she feels used. And now that I know how she's feeling, sex is the last thing on my mind now. But our relationship is more important than the sex and I want to fix the relationship first and let the sex resume on its own. I just want to be happy in my life and not messed up anymore. I want her to be happy and us to be happy together, not seperate or any other way.
The likelihood of engine work already done? I have a 1966 Pontiac Bonneville that I recently picked up. Don't know anything about it's history. What work's been done, what hasn't, etc. Recently asked a question about octane, and it was pretty unanimously decided that the concern was the lack of lead in current fuels, and that I should get new valve seats, or use a lead additive. So, I went to a store, to buy lead additive, and had an interesting conversation with the sales rep (who owns two 1960's Vettes). His comment was whether anyone had done a rebuild prior to now, and if they had...wouldn't they have switched to hardened seals by now? Bottom line: The car was made in 1966. In 1973, unleaded fuel started phasing out leaded. Which means, in the 36 years since the intro of unleaded:, how likely is it that the engine has been rebuilt, and if so, does it seem reasonable to assume that the seals would have been changed at some point? I know the direct way to find out, is to rip the engine apart, and check them out. That's not an option right now. And I know that some cars have their original parts, never rebuilt, trailer queen kind of deals....this has definitely been a commuter car, so I doubt that's the case. So....thoughts on how safe an assumption this is....until I am able to have the engine worked on?
Unconfortable about live-in arrangement with boyfriend? My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years.I recently got divorced and through my 3 years separation my boyfriend was very emotionally supportive but finances between us was always a problem. From day one I felt that I paid for meals drinks . We work for the same company and even lunches were paid by me more than him. This concerned me a lot but because I love him so much I have let it pass even though my friends adviced to do something about it.Im 40, my boyfriend is 30. I have 2 kids, a daughter of 20 who works part time and doesnt earn much and a 11 yrs old son.Both live with me. When I sold the marital home and divorced I got some money to put towards a new home but because of the market I decided to go for rental accomodation. My boyfriend first agreed we should buy together with more of the portion put by me with my money but slowly and surely he has changed his mind and says we should keep things separate.He has a flat (holiday home) and a mortgage and pays his normals bills towards it. The moment I got the rented house he moved in with me and now 4 months later, he has not paid anything towards any of the bills although i has mentioned it to him at least every month. This is getting to me badly and has affected our relationship in a way that I feel very angry and upset about it all and making me very unhappy. He doesnt really interact with my kids and Im having to go from room to room to make sure they are ok. Going out as four is awkward cos I feel I have to pay and puts me off, so now doesnt happen much. When my son is with his dad and my daugther is out we used to go for meals but now doesnt happen at all. When we first dates we used to go out all the time and I paid and I although I loved his company would feel that it was not right.. he did pay some times but I felt bad for it too.. When he goes out with mates (not ofetn now) he splashes with champagne and shows off treating to all sorts of drinks.. When the odd times happens and he goes out with me.. Only drinks beer and its to a minimum. This too makes me feels that Im not worth it and feel hurt.All this is taking its toll and now has even affected our sex life since we have lived together and always making excuses so not to go down that route. Anyway... my main concern is that I want to make living together fair and we should both should contribute fairly to all so I suggested that he should pay a quarter of the bills and he came back saying he would pay 200 quid a month and that should include everything including food which I spend about 100 quid a week and the petrol for taking us to work ( since we moslty go in my car as its more economical than his) . My direct debits, food and petrol come to much more and I dont know how to handle the situation.. He says he's direct debits for his flat come to 200 quid less than mine and he thinks he's being fair. the fact is that a quarter of bills comes to 298 and does not include food and petrol... I get 30 quid a week from my daughter and its as much as I can expect given she doesnt earn much and Im happy that she keeps to her payments more than what he does. He doesnt help in the house expect for doing dishes now and again but when I go to his flat I do so much and I want to... incl decorating it etc as he is not a diy person and Im been right behind him trying to get him to get it nice ( he does pay for everything there )etc..but many a times when we go there.. Ive bought the food for the weekend. I feel I put a lot in our relartionship and struggle to keep them all happy but somehow feel he is being a little unreasonable.. Am I being unfair??? Am I wrong in thinking that? is it all me? I never had to deal with this sort of thing before as my ex husband and I shared accounts and had it all in one pot.Is what Im was used to for all my years. The other thing is that he really doesnt want to commit to marriage and its clear to me that he wants to keep his flat and our home separate where I want to feel that although financillay its HIS flat that both should be OUR homes and should not be made to feel Im just a visitor when I go there as Our home is made OUR home and I would have it other way. You can see ripples coming through from Reagan, Daddy Bush, Clinton, and Baby Bush. There was too much greed in the housing and stock markets. There was no oversight and people who received loans on their houses in the last 4 years should have been counseled and WARNED NOT to get a variable rate loan but the banks were under pressure from Wall Street to WRITE WRITE WRITE more loans and give Wall Street a much desired commodity on which they could make their commission portfolios rise. Don't forget about BEHIND the scenes as well. The CFR, the Fed, our leading economists, the "London Loophole", the Ruling Families, Bernanke, Paulson, and President Bush. EVERYONE had a part in this. On September 24, Bernanke started pulling OUT $225 billion dollars from the banking market, in a direct effort to cause a tightening of funds and create a panic that would FORCE Congress to pass the bail out plan and respond to President Bush's demands that Congress be forced to their knees if necessary to get this bailout passed. I realize the bail out is important and that it will cause a strangling effect on credit cards, home loans, and the economy if it is NOT passed but perhaps it's better to take our lumps NOW and get this Depression OVER as quickly as possible. Even CHINA is pushing to get this bailout passed but it is to preserve THEIR investment more than it is a fear for our economy. What we need to do is tighten our belts. The war must be stopped NOW and efforts must be made on the part of the govt to curtail ALL spending until they can balance the budget for this year. THAT will be a START! NO MORE MONEY for foreign countries ... no more money to Georgia ... no more money for ANYTHING! Bush saw the writing on the wall when everyone was SCREAMING to lower the gas prices. Had the govt made efforts to AT LEAST do THAT then the economy would have improved, the market would hold steady, food prices would have stayed firm, inflation would have been brought into check, and things would have still been tight but it would have been manageable. Bush has relied on his bullying tactics for too long. IT'S OVER MR. BUSH! You have broken the treasury. There is NO MORE MONEY FOR YOU TO STEAL! The cash cow has been drained. Not sure what to do with my mom anymore....? Me and my mom have never gotten along too well to say the least. She couldn't respect my privacy, and disagreed with me on every possible thing. The really liked to be nosy and get in to my business. Well, Just after my 18th birthday, I moved away for college and to start my career. I'm almost 20 now. I go home occasionally to visit, and because of certain circumstances (my mom using my car, being in a rural area), my only way home is for my parents to come and pick me up. Now, my mom, is the NOSIEST PERSON EVER. Through high school, she'd go through my backpack every morning before I left for school, and every day as soon as I got home. She'd go through my drawers on a daily basis. She'd watch me on the computer (not just peek at what I was doing, but full-out stare at every word I typed), as for my passwords, etc. If I had an arguement with a friend and she found out (even something minor), she'd be on the phone with their parents or my school in a second (and we're talking right up until the time I was a HS senior, 18y/o... She's even called my college before... where they laughed at her)... I thought it would stop when I moved away, but If anything, it's gotten worse. When me and my friend moved to a new house, we shared a 4 level back split with my landlord, so we had the top 2 floors and he had the bottom 2 floors, with a sliding pocket door between the two which was locked from his side. There were 3 of us living in the half of our house. My mom would come to pick me up, and one day, I went up to my room to get something, and she snuck downstairs to my landlord's half of the house and started rummaging through his things (his drawers, cabinets, fridge, even his room). After 5 minutes or so I came down so we could leave and saw my mom was in my landlord's half of the house. I told her to get out, and she couldn't understand why. I was like, "thats NOT OUR PART OF THE HOUSE, so you're BnE!", and She just said "Well it wasn't locked, if it's unlocked its fine!" I then went to bring stuff out to the car and she went up and tried to get into all of my roommates rooms, and actually SAID to me, "I see everyone's locked their doors.. Do you have their keys?"... I was like, MOM, you CAN"T DO THAT! I refuse to let her into my room now and she can't seem to understand why. She insists on using the bathroom multiple times at my house (using a different bathroom each time), during which I can hear her going through the drawers, and she usually leaves things messy and doors open. I leave her alone for 2 seconds and she searches the house. If I go home, I'll bring a backpack and a purse, and she will steal my purse to look through it, and go through my backpack while I'm not in the room (I leave my things in specific places so I can tell if they've been touched.. Plus the walls are paper thin). Then she wonders why I don't want to move home. She won't work, I pay for her car (well, MY car that SHE uses), and I've even gotten her a job before (really, really easy job that payed well, just reception desk), and she quit because she had to know too much stuff. She wont even apply to any other job, making excuses like "I can't be home for lunch"., I can't afford to buy my uniform", or refusing to go through a background check or be paid under $15/hour. She has NO experience and only graduated high school. (So clearly she won't be handed a 15/hour job doing nothing). Basically she doesn't want to work, but wants to be paid, thinks she should get first choice of hours because of her age, but refuses to actually TRY anything. When I got a job, I mentioned that I needed to get checks so i could get direct deposit. She insisted that I give them one of HER checks and she would give me the money. I doubt I'd see ALL of the money, plus she'd then love to look at how much I make. Any time I tell her to get out of my things, or ask her to be reasonable, mention a job I saw that would be suitable, she SCREAMS, CRIES, locks herself in her room like a little child and bawls for hours. I don't know what to do anymore, I can't stand going home, I can't keep forking out the cash to pay for her car when I'm in desperate need of a car myself, but she puts the guilt trip on me any time I spend money, go away with friends for a weekend or go shopping, or don't tell her something. She wants to come to my house and stay for a week so we can "go shopping" (with my money) and i"m running out of excuses (as she'll have my house stripped by then) I don't know what to do.. Any suggestions? Advice? Encouragement even? I can hardly put up with her anymore! Sorry if this is a rant at all. I get along great with the rest of my family (dad and brother) but when she's there, it effects me wanting to see them.

I have bought 2 used cars from private sellers over the past 3 years. One was an MGF with a head gasket which blew about 4 months after owning it (which I now know is a common MGF problem) and the other was a Merc A Class, which was fine for about 2 years until the clutch gave out to the tune of £1400. Is there some big secret to being able to tell which cars will cost £1000+ in repairs after a few years - if so, what is it?! 3. Can i run my car accessories off a 120vac line when the cars off? I have a nice stereo and i want to be able to turn my car off and run the stereo for a long time. The battery dies after about 30 minutes so i wanted a way to plug the car accessory into a household outlet. The car draws about 960watts. Thats 60amps on a 12Vdc. Some ideas i had were... 1: plug the 120Vac into the alternator that then converts the alternating current into direct current. 2: put a computer power supply in my car that has a 60amp 12Vdc rail. 3: Buy a very expensive (i cant actually afford it) 12Vdc power supply. 4: use a jump start system that can be plugged into the house outlet and the car at the same time. (would that draw the power off the house?)

What do I need for remote car starter to work on automatic cars with CHIP keys? ? I just bought a remote car starter for my 2001 Honda Accord, which is equipped with power locks. The key is equipped with a CHIP, so if any wrong key is used the engine will be locked for security. The remote car starter that I bought came with wires, remote and a black box with connectors. I talked to some of my friends who dont have enough knowledge of cars but they said you need some kind of module and an extra key to keep it in the car. used car warranty in the UK? I am about to buy a 4 year old Jaguar X type and dont want to fork out for a whole years warranty from the car dealership. I have been trying to find a warranty provider that will cover me on a monthly basis ie by direct debit, but doesnt insist on me paying for 6 months cover before I can cancel. HP on car in ex's name, where do I stand?? Last August I bought a car on HP from Suzuki Motors (using Kia finance part of GE Capital), I part exchanged my Corsa and paid £2000 cash, put the rest on finance. As I was a discharged bankrupt I could not get finance so my partner got the finance in his name. Even though in his name with the finance company I have paid the monthly payment into his bank every month from then to present time (the direct debit was set up from his account). The log book is in my name, as is the tax and insurance - my partner only as a provisional license so cannot drive it without supervison anyway. We recently split up and I cancelled the direct debit from my partners account and set up a standing order from my account to keep up the payments - problem is my ex partner is now being a pain and saying he wants the car, he says it is in his name so legally he can have it, I have contacted the finance company who said they can only speak to the Account holder regarding this matter - do I have a leg to stand on? All past payments although paid for by me have come from my ex's account, but it was my car that was traded in and my £2000 that was put down when we purchased it and it is me who have paid all the payments!!! I need to know where I stand because at present I have a standing order set up to pay them March's payment. The HP agreement is for 3 years and the agreement was taken out in August (6 months ago), so should I keep up the payments or could my ex at some time in the future come and take the vehicle off me.....I would be grateful for any advice you could give.

Hey Guys, I'm 16 and am looking to buy my first car soon, but the current money I have and what I generally earn in my part-time job, along with expnses such a cell phone contract, I am finding it hard to build up a substantial cash sum... So I know that dealerships offer financing on cars, but I'm not quite sure how it works... a buddy of mine at work says his financing stuff comes directly from his bank account, and he says his credit card isn't used at all. I would Like to pay for a Car Per month.? Hi, I would like to buy a used car..about 7 years old or so...I'm looking into something like a VW Polo thats easy to insure since it will be my first car. Where can I get a convertible top and passenger window for a 91 Chrysler Labaron two door? We bought a used car at a garage sale. Runs great but have had difficulty finding miscellanous parts because Chrysler stopped making replacement parts. We also need a main curcuit board for lighting, signals, etc. We have them direct wired with toggles switches. We've been to junk yards and I've even searched on ebay for the top, but I guess this was a special model and what is suppose to work, doesn't.

In what states is it legal to drive with fog lights? Can anyone direct me to a website that will let me know where I'm more likely to get pulled over? I bought my car used with after market headlights. I'm not able to adjust these so, for four years (in the state of Texas) I've also used my fog lights for extra light with no trouble. I know some are horribly bright but mine are not... I'm not one of "those guys". Now, I need to travel through several states and I don't want to get pulled over for something silly. Which insurance company? I am 17 year old male in the UK. I have a Citroen Saxo 1.1L 3 door 2000 car. I bought the car for £800. It is not modified in any way and it is in a secure garage every night. Having my dad as the policyholder is not beneficial because although he has been driving for over 30 years, he has always had a company car and has never owned, and therefore never had insurance. I have looked everywhere for insurance and the cheapest is £3500, most quotes are over £4000 and around a third of the results are over £10000. This is 3rd part F+T and using sites such as Confused, Compare the Market etc. I also tried getting quotes direct from the company and it's no cheaper. If anything it's more expensive. Why is no sound coming from my speakers in a 2003 Civic? My rear right speaker has apparently blown (it only makes a static noise and the rear left speaker noise is faint, so I figured there was a power issue). So, I directed all the sound to come out of my front speakers yesterday. This made the volume much louder out of these speakers than that same volume setting normally does. This morning in the car, the sound just suddenly stopped. If i turn it off for 20 minutes, then turn it back on, I hear a short burst of static and the nothing. I have a stock radio and I haven't touched anything. I have no owner's manual and no fuse box diagram as I bought the car used a month ago. Help!
Several questions regarding Mazda MX-3s? I'm buying my first car. There's a used, 1993 Mazda MX-3 from a private seller I'm going to test drive with my father tonight. Truthfully, I haven't read much about this type of vehicle (wanted a Prelude or Integra, but I really wanted to give this MX-3 a chance, I'm a little in love with it already). scratched windshield? hi can anyone tell me if there is a way to remove scratches from a windshield. someone used some type of a metal object on my cars wind shield there are numerous scratches on the windshield not deep ones. you can run your finger nail over the scratch and not feel them but looking through the shield can drive ya nuts in direct sunlight. can a glass shop buff these out? any way i can do it my self with some kind of product i can buy? thanks

Ford Mondeo 52 reg Navtech sat nav question!? I have 52 reg Ford Mondeo with a Navtech built in sat nav. Is uses a CD to run. The CD shattered in my pc's cd drive when I tried to copy it. A replacement from Navtech direct costs £120 and this is for the 2003 version, as they are not making any updates for my model of car. Question: Are the CD's made for the built in Navtech systems car specific? Do I have to buy a 'FORD MONDEO' navtech CD or will any Navtech CD be sufficient?

Solar panel and electric fence- help please!? We already have an electric fence set up in our field but the battery keeps dying and it is a real pain. I want to use a solar panel to charge the 12V car battery that is the power source for our fence. I know nothing about solar panels besides the fact that they are direct current. What would I need to buy to charge the fence with solar panels? Could I just buy a solar panel and hook it up (however you do that) to our car battery that is connected to the fence charger or do I need to buy the whole set up for a solar powered electric fence? I don't want to over charge the battery- what size solar panel would I need to safely charge the battery and do I need a charge controller (whatever that is)? I've tried researching online, but all I keep getting is adds for the complete solar powered electric fence set up. Any help would be appretiated thanks.
saving money, just cant seem to save!!? Im having trouble saving and was wondering if anyone has any tips on cutting back costs, saving more or even good websites to direct me to. i bought myself a house 6 months ago and knew thered be more costs involved but interest rates are rising and each fortnight i seem to put less in my savings and then end up using it, even breaking into whatever was there. my mortgage payments have increased by nearly 60 a fortnight in the 6 months which doesnt sound much but does effect me. not to mention contents insurance, car repayments, water, rates, etc. i try to not overspend and sometimes splash out for a treat (new top or dinner out). how do i save more? my pay is pretty good for someone my age and im living comfortably but cant find ways to reduce costs as most costs are more necessaries - like costs of daily living. ideas? thanks :)

How to build a house for cheaper...? I want to build a house in central ohio. Using a custom home builder to build a home on my land seems like it can be a little expensive. what are some of the cheapest ways to build a nice home? One that looks like any other around, NOT like adobe or anything. I've heard that open panel construction can be cheaper, but is their anything any cheaper? are FM transmitters for ipods any good? i just bought an 05 scion tc which does not have an aux input for mp3 players. i dont want to spend money upgrading the stereo right now (i want to spend the money to do it right). anyway, i thought about getting an fm transmitter to use with my car. are they worth it? how is the sound quality compared to a direct aux input? whats the difference between the $30 unit and the $70 one?
