buy or lease a car? when you have large school loans to pay? I am a recent college grad, with a decent job and need a new car. Not sure if I want the higher payments that come with buying car seeing as how I have 100,000 to pay off in school loans. any thoughts on what would be best for this time in my life?
Buy car with cash, credit card or lease - which is best? I am going to buy a car that is 2 years old and about $15k. Is it better to lease it or buy in cash/credit card. I have never leased a car and not sure if it has any advantages, judging by some websites i have visited leasing seems to be daunting, easier to buy in cash. But is this a wise financial move?
If my registration is out of date, can I still turn in my lease/smart buy car? I moved out of state recently, but my smart buy on my cadillac is coming up here in a month or so. My state registration is expired, and obviously I dont want to go thru all of the hassle of getting it switched over to the new state just to turn in the vehicle this next month. Will a dealership accept a lease/smart buy car with an out of date registration? Thanks!!

Is it easier to buy a car or lease a car ? I have just been approved to lease a 57,000$ Lexus suv but I have to trade in my car and put 14,000$ down . My question is am I likely to get approved to buy it with my car being traded in and 14,000$ down (could put a 5,000$ more down if needed) because I really want to buy not lease ?
Should I buy/lease a car in New Jersey or Massachusetts? I currently live in New Jersey, but I am moving to Boston next month, and I am looking to buy/lease a car. NJ sales taxes are 7% and MA taxes are 6.25%. Does this mean it is more tax-efficient to purchase the car in Massachusetts, and are there any other differences I am not aware of? Thanks!
Im moving to the states and need to buy, lease a car? Im moving from central America ! and i need to have a car as soon as i get there , but i don't know what to do should i buy a used one and then change to a better car or should i lease a car , or buy from car-max an ok car and then change it. Car lease buy out at end of lease question? I am in the middle of leasing a Jeep and I'm thinking of keeping it at the end of the lease. My buy out price is something like 8 or $9,000. Does this have to be paid in full or can I work something out where I can pay this in monthly installments? I don't exactly have that kind of cash to pay all at once but over time yes.
Is going from a Car Lease to a Buy actually more expensive and a waste of money? Does one end up paying more for a car when you lease it and then go to a buy later? Lets say you lease a car at $20,000. Lease it for 3 years and then go to a buy. After the car is paid off, is the finaly cost beyond $20,000 plus the interested of course. Is it better to just buy the car if you can afford it? Or leasing it would be a dumb move if you could afford it?
lease or buy a car? both deals would cost about the same? ok. we are looking into leasing a car. at the end of the 3 year lease, we would end up paying about 15, 000. and then what, get another lease and start paying another 15,000 dollars? now if we buy the car that costs about 19,000, wouldnt that be a better choice? i just dont see the benifit in leasing anymore.
Is it better for me to lease or buy a car? My company has given me a $600/month car allowance. Would it be better to lease a new car for close to that amount or buy a car a couple of years old for around $400 per month. I do drive a lot of miles-20K+ and am somewhat hard on my cars. Thanks. The company would not be handling the lease. I would have to personally lease the car as have insurance in my name.
Is it cheaper to buy out someone's lease on a car and then buy the actual car at the end of the lease? I don't know a lot about cars or leases. I was playing around with a site where you can buy out people's leases. I'm thinking you can buy out the lease with a few months left and then just buy the car at the end of the lease. It's used and the person before already paid almost all of the payments. I'm thinking you can swoop in with the right lease and save money buy buying a car this way as opposed to a used car. Is this reasoning sound?
Being a Military couple is it best if we lease or buy a car during deployment or after? My husband is currently deployed, just left 6 weeks ago & we have no children. We have a bankruptcy that has been discharged & a few minor things on our credit. I have been told that it is the best time to buy during deployment because your income goes up due to special entitlement pays for being deployed therefore you can get better interest rates, etc.. I have never leased a car before & don't know what all is included or how it works & i know that a dealership is going to tell me what i WANT to hear so.. would we be better of waiting until he gets back & putting money down that we save & buying one OR buying or leasing now since his income has increased due to his deployment? Thank you:)
Do you think it is smarter to lease or buy a car? I make decent money (about 45k a year). I heard leasing a car can get you pretty nice and otherwise expensive cars for cheap. Even though you dont keep them after a few years, overall, is leasing a car cheaper than purchasing a car if i want to drive a nice vehicle and dont care if i have to return it?
What is better to buy car or lease car? I am leasing the car and now lease is ending and I am curious what it is better to do for me now. I do not drive a lot. My leased car has 22,000 miles for 2,5 years. I do not drive too much, my job is in 15 minutes from my home. Right now I have Honda Accord which will be probably worth about $12,000-$13,000 dollars. I know that I can buy a new car for about $16,000. Like Honda FIT or different type of the car. I can lease for $186 Honda Civic. I just do not know what it is better to do. Any advise?
Prices to buy and lease a car? I'm thinking about getting a car, but I don't know if it would be more convenient to buy or lease. What is, about, the monthly payment to lease and what is, about, the down payment that you have to make on buying a car? Then, what's the monthly "mortgage" you have to pay on the car until you pay it all off? Thanks for your help :)
Better to Lease or Buy a car? im getting my license soon and my parents are getting me a car and they told me to research leasing. however i think that if i bought a car id be paying the same price each month. so is it better to lease or buy? cars im interested in are: 2008-2009 models cx7 mazda, cx9 mazda, nissan maxima, or nissan murano
Do you buy or lease your car? I know you can save money in the long run by buying a car outright but it is worth it to pay a little more and always have a new car and not worry so much about maintenance? What made you make the decision to buy or lease your car?
Should I Buy or Lease a car? Okay...I want a Toyota because I just really like them. I have one but it's way old. My thing is that the life span on a car isn't much...so should I buy or lease? If you have bought a car, buying a car, and have experienced leasing...which do you prefer?
Should I buy or lease a car? I own my own business and can have my company pay for leasing a car and use pre-tax dollars. Should I do that or just buy a car?
is it better to buy or lease a car/vehicle? Hi there, is it better to lease or buy a car? what are the pros and cons? Also, if someone can't keep up with the lease agreement, is it a huge penalty? Thaks I won't be driving much. I was told that once the lease end, i can actually buy the car at that point based on the current value.
I'm indecisive if should lease or buy car? I've owned to cars already but it seems every time you're done paying one car...you'll soon need a new one because the age of the car, possible the weather conditions have put on it as well and also the work that is required to keep it running longer. To and from work is a 45 minute drive without traffic and my college is in the same local town where I live.
is it better to buy or lease car? i just finished my phd so i am looking at roughly 10+ years of very low wages; should i lease a car or should i buy one? is it more COSTLY to keep leasing again and again or buy a car? but i cant afford decent monthly payments, so will the cars i can afford to BUY last me 10-12 yrs? thanks
Should I buy a car or lease one? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? I've had my 1999 Chrysler Sebring for 3 years now, but I need a car with more room because I'm in college and travel a great deal. The question is, should I buy the car or lease it for a few years? I'm hoping to buy another car once I sell my car, and I estimate it to rake in at least $8,000. If my parents don't help me out with some more cash than that, what should I do? HELP!
Can I buy a car and lease it to my California S Corporation? Here is the problem: I have no debt but my credit score is only 605. This is a good enough score to buy a car but not to lease; so I lose out on the tax advantage. Instead, I would like to purchase a car and lease it to my corporation for the same price as my monthly payment so there is no personal income from the lease. Is this against federal or state tax law? I am 50% owner of the S Corp. The problem is that there is a much better tax advantage when leasing as opposed to buying. If my s corp buys the car I can only write off depreciation. By purchasing the car and leasing it to my s corp for the same exact amount of the payments I have 0 profit, which is below the threshold of a schedule C I thought.
Should I buy or lease my car? Ok, so I've decided to sell/trade in my 2004 cavalier. If I trade it in, honda will give me anywhere from $6,500 - 8,000 for it. Should I trade it in and buy a new car or should I sell it on my own, put the cash in the bank and lease a car? If I sell I could continue trading in my cars every 3-4 years and getting a nice down payment on a new one, but a lease may be less hassle with lower monthly payments. Please give me some of your pros/cons. see my last question as to why i'm not keeping the car i have..to keep it short - american quality sucks and i want out while i can still get 8k for a piece of crap car.
Is it smarter for me to lease or buy a car? I graduated in May and have just landed my first job, paying $45k. I have very minimal monthly bills (about $300). The car I'm driving now doesn't have any major problems but it's got 170,000 miles on it and is old, so I'd like to get a new, more reliable one for work. In my situation, would it be smarter for me to consider leasing or buying? I'd like to get a hybrid. Thanks for any advice!
Should I keep my car or buy/lease a new one? Hi...I need some advice from experienced car owners or leasers. I have a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero w/ 80K miles on it. I have just begun the 4th year of 5 year finance plan, and I will own it in a year. It was my first car with no credit history and I am paying 18% interest ($300/mo). It has a few minor problems, mostly cosmetic and annoying - loudish interior, a couple of dings, dashboard peeling, bugs get in (gross!). No engine problems that I know of. I am 28 years old, female, no kids, and I work at home presently. I will probably go to school in the fall, which isn't far...so mileage isn't a problem. I am thinking about getting another car, but I'm indecisive about everything...and I was hoping someone with similar experiences could offer advice. 1. Should I pay this car off and risk not getting anything for the trade in? 2. Should I trade it in now? 3. Should I lease or buy? 4. Which kind of car would suit me? I like something sporty but economical... Thanks!
Is it easier to take over a lease or buy a car when I have weak credit? About 10 years ago I got very sick and had to leave a very good paying job. My medical bills went up and income went down. No bankruptcy, but slow payment history, house went into foreclosure, but I was able to sale it to get out from payments. Moved to an apartment to cut expenses. Cheaper than my old house payments and utilities are cheaper. Since then my health has vastly improved, but I still have outstanding medical bills, and my prescriptions and Dr. visits take about 10-12 % of my monthly income. Now my car has died and I have not been able to save any down payment since I have been trying to pay off old bills. What are my best options for getting a decent running car that I can make the payments on without having a large down payment, and without getting over my head?
lease or buy car? HELP :(? im going to college pretty soon and i only have a part time job but i think its enough for me to do monthly payment for car. i got really confuse should i buy a car or should i lease one??
Lease or Buy Car - Graph? I want to know if theres more people who is Leasing a car or Buying a car in the United States. Im trying to find a graph that shows that. So if anybody knows where I can find the graph? I'm also looking for if there is any graph that shows how many people is actually donating a car in the United States each year or.. just a graph about that.. thanks!
lease or buy car? what are the ideal situations for a person to consider leasing a car instead of buying this year? thanks for all the info. i'm actually gathering ideas to be able to explain to my wife how leasing works and how it would benefit our situation. we just relocated in B.C. and might stay for at least 3 years
Should I buy my car before the lease expires or wait till due date? I've been leasing a Dodge Caliber for 3 years. In January 2011 my lease will be expired and I was planning on purchasing the car then. I've received some unexpected money and was wondering if it would be a good move to buy it now before leasing ends. Thanks, Your thoughts?
should I lease or buy a car? I am in college now and I am getting ready to sell my car and get a new one. The deal is my dad's going to make payments until I graduate and then I will finish them. My question is what are the benefits of leasing over buying? Besides cheaper payments that is. I have been reading about how you can't have over 10-15k miles on a leased car per year. What would you do in my situation?
Should i buy or lease a car? Under the federal tax laws, is it better for me to lease or buy a car? Why? would i save money on taxes if I lease?
Is it better to lease a car or buy it? This is for my wife. She has a 2006 car now with 80k miles on it. I want to get her a new car, but haven't decided whether to buy or lease. Her job is less that 5 minutes away from our house, and we always take my car wherever we go, so the mileage is not a problem. I just hate the fact that after the term is up, the is no equity built up in it. Anybody have any suggestions????
Should I Lease or Buy a Car? Hello, This is my first car and I’m conflicted on if I should buy or lease it. I’m 23 years old male living in New Jersey; I received my license back in March 2007. I’m considering buying a Toyota Corolla, or something comparable to that. I have not decided on what insurance to get, but I know considering my gender, age, and state, it will be a bit pricey. Taking a tight financial situation into consideration, I would like to know what would be cheaper as well.
Can I buy out of a car lease 3 years early? I have leased my car for a 4 year period a year ago through a company that deals with car leases. (I picked up the car at a used car lot. The car was 6 months old at the time). Now my bank has offered me a car loan at a very good interest rate. Can I go to my leasing company and tell them I want to buy the car and then I can own the car and make bank payments instead of lease payments or am I locked in with the leasing company? Thanks
To lease or to buy a car? Im looking into getting a new car and i would like some info from you guys as to which is better, to lease or to buy a car. im a big car guy and having the newest car is always great, so for me i think leasing would be better cause i could get a 2011 car for about 200-300 a month.or i could buy a car thats about 3-4yrs older for the same monthly payment. in general i dont drive a lot just to and from work (5-10 miles/ day) and maybe like once or twice a year a road trip under 1000 miles. so im asking for opinions from people as to which one would benifit me more. if you could list the pros and cons for each that would be very helpfull. THANKS!!
To lease or to buy a car? If I always want to change my car because I'll get bored of it and just need a change should I buy it or lease it? Which is a better decision in this situation? Someone told me that I should buy it and then just exchange it for another one after 3-5 years, even if it's financed. Is it better? I don't understand why it would be. Anyway this is hypothetical; I told the person that when I get older I will want to lease all of my cars because it seems like the better decision for my situation.
Should I BUY or LEASE? Im a Universtiy student and I need a decent car thats not going to break on me ALL the time. Should I buy a good 2005+ car or lease a new one? And could someone explain why which one would be better too
Buy? Rent? or Lease? How to get a car for just 1 year.? I'm currently studying abroad in California for just 1 year as an exchange student from Japan. Since I came here last September, I have been really feeling necessity of car and I'm considering getting one. Actually I can do nothing without car here in the west coast... Then what I wanna ask is which mean I should take. 1)to rent only when needed 2)to buy a used car and sell it again (I don't have such a big amount of money though) 3)to lease. Please give me some advices.
Can you buy a car out of its lease before the lease is over? I want to buy a new Hyundai Elantra, but I only have $2000 to put down and I need low monthly payments, since I am a college student (high 100's to low 200s). My Dad said my best bet is to lease the car and then buy it at the end. I was just wondering, is it possibly to switch to financing or buy the car out of the lease, before the lease actually ends?
Should I lease or buy a car? I have the option to lease or buy. I could buy a car and pay in full. BUT buying a car is a lost cause anyway you always end up loosing. However i hardly drive. I work in a leasing office where i live, so i walk to work. I hate to pay off a car and loose the full amount of 25,000. Is leasing a good idea or should i just buy?
Is it cheaper to buy or lease a new car in the long term? I'm thinking of leasing a new Honda Civic. I was wondering if buying or leasing would be cheaper over time. I know that with leasing, you have to figure other costs like more insurance and maybe going over your mileage. But if I stay under the mileage limit, will leasing or buying a new car save me more money over 10-15 years?
OK, lease or buy car? I have a family of 5 total. I would like a high end car (3rd row SUV), but am concerned I cannot afford it. I wouldn't mind a lease but don't want to be screwed at the end with high buyout. I had a lease 15 years ago, have they changed? What can I do to sweeten the deal...I have a clunker! Looking for a Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
Should I buy or lease car? Hi, Im 17 years. so, Im gonna be 18 years. im gonna buy a car next year. actually I want to buy 2006 mutang GT used one. but I don't have enough money to buy it. I heard that lease is cheapter than buy. is it true? and, It's about $20000. 1. which one is cheaper? 2. Do I have to pay another money except car's price?(when I lease a car) 3. usually, how much the insurance price in Mustang? Thanks :)
Why would the car dealer push you to lease than buy? I was at the Cadillac dealership yesterday looking at new cars. The dealer pushed hard to get me to lease than buy a new car. His reason: cars are depreciating commodities and there is no point investing so much money into it. I would think they would be more interested in selling cars. Any insights what is their hidden advantage in leasing cars over selling?
Want out of car lease to buy a new car - what is most efficient exit strategy? I am leasing a 2006 Lexus ES330 with two years left and need to buy a mnivan due to a larger family. What is the most efficient way to exit the lease? Buyout the car and trade it in for a new car (would pay 7.375% sales tax on the buyout amount)? Assign the lease to a third-party and then buy the new car (subject to finding an equally credit-worth counterparty)? Keep sales tax implications in mind when providing advice.
Can I buy off my lease car before my lease is over? I leased a 20k car last week and have to pay pretty high interest. I wonder if I can just use my saving to buy off the car right now? If so, do I just need to pay 20k for the car? or I have to pay the interest and other fee as well? Note that I just got the car less than a week ago. Thank you
When my car lease is up, do I have to buy a new car or can I buy a used car? Our car lease expires 2008. We do not want to keep the vehicle, but would like to either purchase a least expensive new vehicle or buy a used one. My question is can we buy a used vehicle upon turning in our lease vehicle? Our mistake was leasing and also just not satisfied enough with the Freestyle to purchase it when it expires. Thank you.
My car lease is about to expire. I like it but is it a mistake to buy it for the payoff amount? The buy-out option is $14k. It's a 2003 WRX with 36K miles only, and it's been great. I wouldn't mind just keeping it. The guys at the car dealer though, want me to lease or buy a new car. I think they're biased though, since kbb.com says they would turn around and sell my car for over $20k, plus get more money from selling me another car. I know it is dumb of me to lease and consider buying instead of just buying it in the first place, but it's too late to look at it that way now. I'm looking at it like I have no car, and I could buy a great used car for about $6000 less than a dealer would charge. So is that a reasonable decision or would I be making a big mistake?
Is it better to Lease a Car or Buy? We always buy our Cars/Trucks..But we know nothing about leasing, With the low lease payments these days, We're thinking about leasing..How does a lease work?I do know you have to watch Mileage, I probably put on a average of 12000 miles a year..Thanks for the help!
To buy a new car or lease a new car? my husband says lease , I say buy it! What do you think? Has anyone bought a car and then leased one? What is more money managable? I think you spend more leasing cause at the end, you have to return the car and get another one.
Car lease early termination versus buy-out at lease end? I have a 2005 Accord coupe with 60,000 miles. It is a 3 year ,45,000 mile lease which ends in July. The way I figure things, I will owe appx $4,000-$4,500 in mileage overage fees at the lease termination. The buy-out on the car is set at $12808 ($13704 with tax). I was curious whether I should do an early termination (which will cost me the remaining months' payments of $2850 rolled into the new financing) and BUY the new accord (which I love), hoping that they don't stick me with the current overage charges of 15,000 miles. Or the other option is to wait until july, and buy the car out for $13,000 and try to sell it. It will have 75,000 miles on it appx and the car is in MINT condition....likely worth about 11,000 at that point I'm guessing. I will loose about $3,000 that way too....sooooo..Suggestions?
Should we lease instead of buy our 2nd car? We have never leased a car. We have been sharing a car for a few years and now we need a 2nd car. My husband is thinking of leasing his car since he only wants to use it for going to and from work. I know you are supposed to be careful of mileage put on the car etc but I think it might be easier to lease. Does anyone have any experience with leasing? Anything I should know ahead of time or why I shouldnt lease?
car lease ending/to buy new or keep? We have almost a 4 year old Acura TSX and our lease is up in a few months. We just got a new set of tires ($650) and already have 50,000 miles on the car which is only supposed to be at 48,000 when we turn it in so we'll have to pay that mileage. We also have to get our navigation screen fixed because it somehow got broken but it still works. We have bought the screen and have it coming in to an auto shop where my husband knows someone that can fix it for us. We really want to get a Honda CRV but afraid we'll end up paying too much for the mileage extras and then our payment will be outrageous but we also don't want to buy this car and be paying on it for another several years. What should we do?
Is it a good idea to buy my leased car? I leased the car for 4 years and it is well under the allowed mileage. I want to know the pros and cons of buying this car or if I should buy a new car. Thanks.
Can any dealer buy your lease car? I have a 2007 CR-V and would like to get a different car. My lease is up October 2009 and I'm only $2000 upside down on my note. If I buy a used car from another dealership, other than Honda, will they pay my lease off or the pay off amount?
Planning to buy our car when the lease is up at the end of the month - can we negotiate? The payoff price appears to be better than what the same year/make of car would go for if purchased used from a dealer. The company sent a letter detailing the payoff amount, we would need to mail a check in that amount to them in order to purchase the car. Since this price is written into our lease, I thought it was non-negotiable...but, is it negotiable, say if we were to go to the dealership for financing? I am not good at "bargaining" or car buying, I would like to approach the dealership with confidence, so any tips would be appreciated! (Or, would it just be better to go a bank or Capital One for financing of the payoff amount?) Also, is this considered a "lease buyout?" - lease buyout loan rates on the Capital One website are higher than used car loan rates!
which one is good? lease car or buy car? which one is good? lease car or buy car? 1. if my leased car was stolen, what will happen to me? 2. i know that if i leased car, i can only limit myself in driving certain mileages, will i still be able to drive to the other states when i am on vacation without using up these mileages?
Should i lease a car or buy one? What are the differences between leasing and buying a car except of the fact that when you buy it you own it. What is a better option and why? Thank you for answering
lease vs. buy a car? Next summer I plan to get a new car. I am wondering now if I should save up the money and just buy a used car, or save up money still and lease a car. I know a lot of people are against leasing but I like the fact that I would be able to get another car every few years because I love new cars. However, I just started building my credit a few months ago, so I don't know how much my monthly payments will be. You know how they have commercals saying starting at $259 a month for example? And that is for someone with perfect credit lets say how much more do you think it would be for just average credit? I also figure buying a used car I would have to spend more money on it in repairs etc then fewer problem with a leased car what do you think?
Lease vs buy a car, in cash or by credit? What is my best option? I got $20,000 from a settlement and I am ready to buy a brand new car (a hybrid one). what if I lease the car? or what if I give a small down payment and pay montlhy or just go ahead and buy the car in cash up front? What would you do in my case? please. Thank you great to see all these wise advices thanks to you all.
I am relocating to US for couple of years. Wanted to know if it is a good idea to buy a car or Lease a car? We are a family of 4 - Husband, Wife and 2 toddlers. An extrememly cautious and safe driver. Should i go for a new one or settle for a used one? Monthly outgo i can afford is around $350 including insurance. We are a family of 4 - Husband, Wife and 2 toddlers. An extrememly cautious and safe driver. Should i go for a new one or settle for a used one? Monthly outgo i can afford is around $350 including insurance. This will be our only vehicle for a while as my offfice is at a walking distance. And we will probably dont go over 1500 - 2000 miles a month.
