Can you sell your car before they put interlock on for OWI? We live in WI and our car it titled to both of us but it is MY CAR. I use it for work etc...my husband is going to court for 2nd OWI and i wonder if they order that interlock thing before they do it can he just sign it or sell it over to me fully? I am on the title now just take him off of it. He wont be driving anyways?
can you sell your car if you still owe the bank.? we are a military family and have just received orders to japan and have to leave in nov this year. We cant take our car with us due to weight restrictions but still owe the bank.... Can we sell the car even though we still owe navy federal..
Can your parents sell your car for you? My fiance lives in the UK & is coming over here to the US to stay for 2 months and we are sending in our fiance visa package. Can his parents sell his car for him, even though its in his name? He's 24, but has the same address as them. It would make things much easier for us if they could.
Can you ship your car from one country to another? Let's say you have an old beater in a foreign country and you're coming to the US. You're trying to sell off your car in the local market but you're not getting a fair price on it selling it used. You know the used-car market will be dodgy in your destination country and you probably won't get as reliable a car for the same price there. Is it cheaper just to drive it onto a container ship and ship it to yourself in your destination country?
Best way to sell your car privately, and pitfalls to avoid? Howdy All. We have a Honda Pilot. It's a nice car, but I've been thinking of selling it for awhile and then the gas crunch hit. I was going to trade it for something smaller, but am getting super low estimates from dealers, and I'm sure I could do at least a little better than that. So, what are the things you need to do to make the process as easy and safe as possible for both the buyer and you? We usually keep our cars until they're pretty old, then trade them in when they're not worth much more anyhow. I don't want to have anyone trying to pull any craziness on us, so I'll put FIRM next to the price in the paper, but am sure there are tons of other things that come up that we won't know until we actually start. Thanks so much for your help!
can a car dealer sell your trade in before your new deal goes through finance? The dealership called me 3 weeks after i signed the paperwork and said give us more money down or we will repo the vehicle. At the time they had stickers in my trade and screwed with it while it was on the lot. There are a lot of holes in their complaint. They raised the finance total on me. I dont know if there is anything I can do
Normally do people email you if they sell their car before your appointment to see it? My dad and I made an appointment to go look at a car this Wednesday, but I was wondering if the person selling the car happened to sell it to someone else before then if he would email my dad and let him know. I know no one can know for sure as they don't know the person, but is that normally what a person would do? Or is it more common for them to wait until we call and then tell us? Thanks in advance guys
What to do if selling your car to a private buyer? I'm selling a car to a private buyer and just looking for what has to be done. We're selling it for $16k and we still owe $19k. Is there any type of contract that has to be signed? Also, we financed our car through the bank. The person buying it will also be financing it. How do the payments work out? Will their bank make a payment to us or our bank? Any advice, suggestions, etc will be appreciated! Thanks!
Can an apartment complex make you sell your car? In our lease agreement it has rules on cars. We have done what the office has asked us by painting the truck, fixing the tail lights, and cleaning the bed of the truck out. All that has cost us at least $300. Now they are saying we must remove our truck from the property because it is "ugly" and has rust on it. Now keep in mind the truck is a 1987 Dodge D100. It's old. Any car that is that old and well used is going to have rust. Yet there are 19 other cars (I counted) with visible damage that are not getting in trouble. They will not let us out of the lease and we can not afford to pay a storage fee somewhere when my husband takes the truck to work daily. I am just wondering if there is any legal action we can take against the complex.
can you sell a car before your divorce is done? Im getting a divorce in Arizona and my soon to be ex husband traded our car in after he had filed the papers on a new car what can i do it was mark that the judge was to let us know who got it.
How do you connect your ipod nano to your car and listen to the music out of the speakers? I have an older version of the ipod nano. What do i need to buy that i can connect my ipod to my car? in my car i have a cigerate lighter that i could use, or in my parents' car there is a little plug where the dealer that sold the car to us said it can be used for an ipod or mp3player. please help me! thanks!!!!! :]
How many busses would you have to get to & from work if you sold your car? Obviously the way the government are going, they are trying to get us to sell our cars and use public transport to get to and from work etc. I personally woulfd have to get a total of 6 busses per day to drop my daughter off at her childminder's and get to and from work. It's way too far to walk and the train station is right next to my office pretty much, so that wouldn't be an option either! it's just a pointless poll really, but I wanted to see if others would find it just as difficult to give up their car. Also, my journey would increase from 30 minutes to around 3 hours each way!
If you were selling your car, what would you take as payment? I am curious to see what people would prefer to use for bartering in the USA if the US Dollar was not available. Please answer why also. Would you take: food alcohol guns gold silver oil platinum electronics furniture land other currencies like the peso or euro What else?
How to sign over a title to salvage your car in PA (Pennsylvania)? I have a tow truck coming tomorrow to pay me to salvage my car. According to the salvage cars section in http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/fact_sheets/fs-buysell.pdf all I need to do is "If you sell your car for salvage, sign the title over to the buyer and remove your license plate. Return the plate to the Department". I have the title in front of me, but there are sections A,B,C,D. I dont know what one(s) to fill out or where I need to sign, to sign the car over for salvage. Please Help.
I live in CA and want to sell my car but it needs a smog and currently has a non op is it legal to sell? I want to sell my car but it needs a smog and currently has a non op is it legal to sell? I love the car but would be too expensive for us to fix and would rather see it gone. just want to know if it would be legal for us to sell since it has some transmission problem we do have a non op like I mentioned already...thanks for your answers appreciate it in advance.
Why do european car manufacturers recomend changing your oil only every 6000 miles while in the US its 3000? When you buy a new car you need to bring your car back to the dealer only every 10000km or 6000 miles for the scheduled oil change to protect your warranties. Is the quality of motor oil that much better in europe, or they just want to sell more oil here?
What is the most American car that is sold in the US today? Please - spare me the clap trap about the big three being the only American built cars. Most of these cars are either assembled in Mexico or Canada, or are made with parts that have come from a foreign source. And the multi-national status of the big three makes me wonder what portion of each of them in actually owned by Americans, and how much is owned by foreign investors anyway. What I want to know is if any of the other car companies, Toyota, Hyundai, Honda ... make a car that has more US made parts, and US labor in them, than the ones the big three are selling. Please provide sources for your claims if you can.
Won't let me sell a car/truck? At our local grocery stores they used to let us sell cars and other things in their parking lots, now they said something about the city, or state not allowing them to.... does anybody know why? or do they do that in your city too?
Is it legal for someone to take a car back that is titled and registered in your name? this guy sold us his car...we got it registered and titled in my husbands name. he now says he wants it back, and is "just gonna take it back". they had a verbal agreement, nothing written, that we would pay him, we started paying him ran into some financial trouble but are now able to pay him, he is refusing the money..and says he wants it back!! is this legal?
Where can I sell my aftermarket car stereo? I have a Jensen VM9312 CD/DVD player stereo. I just bought a new car and had this one taken out of my old one. The new one obviously isnt a fit for my new car so Im trying to sell it. I took it to some pawn shops but pawn shops think that they are freakin best buy and any other high end store now and have all these rules about how they can only take certain stuff. (we already have too many in stock, it has to be "installed" in your car for us to look at it and see how much its worth, which is EXTREMELY stupid. If it is already installed in my car obviously Im not going to sell it, let alone rip it out after you look at it.) It just a bunch of BS with pawn shops now. Your job is to take other peoples junk, not other peoples brand new junk. Anyway does anybody know of any places I can go to try and sell it. Besides EBAY or Amazon. Any help would be great, thanks?
Does it matter what brand of gasoline you used for your car? Is there really a difference between the different type of gasoline. For example, Exxon, Shell, BP, Chervon, Hess, etc.. What is the different between the different brand of gasoline? Can you tell the differences. Is there a differences? What are some of the worst brand for gasoline. I mean don't they just pump it out the group and sell it to us or do some of these greedy companies dilute their gasoline to make bigger profits. I heard BP gas was diluted!!!! Is this true? PLease mroe peopel response!
do you think my car will sell on ebay. i got 9 watchers with no bids... what are your thoughts? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-malibu-chevelle-1968-2dr-coupe-327-v8-12-bolt-rear-axle-/120797975496?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c201ed3c8
Is it against the law for a dealership to buy a car acting as your agent and then sell it to someone else? Me and my friend were looking into buying a rare '98 quicksilver toyota supra with only 24k on the original motor and this is a 1 in 9 vehicals ever made mind you... some guy didnt know what he had and was selling it for 10,000... So my friend went to a toyota dealership and told them he would pay more then what they could get it for if they would finance him... so they called back after about a week and said the car is on the way and they only paid 8,000 for it and to bring his vehical in for appraisal and would sell it for 16k...he agreed... the next morning when he went to appraise his car they went through the whole speal and then offered 17,000 for his 2006 Eclipse GT and then said o but we sold you car on ebay for 150,000 sorry but to bad... legally wasnt the dealer acting as his agent for this vehical and they made over 142,000 profit off a car they had no idea about if it wasnt for us... so my question is... What would be my best bet... take legal action or cowboy up? No there was no Written contract but in court if you can prove a verbal agreement between two sides then it can hold its own just as much as a written statment

Are you willing to dump your American car and buy foreign to protest the US auto bailout? I sold my Dodge Dakota yesterday and bought a Nissan Pathfinder...I will never buy American again. When the UAW is crushed, I may consider another American car....made by non-union labor.
Does exporting cars need a dealer license? I'd like to run a small business helping oversea customers to find cars in US and exporting them. Do I need any kind of dealer's license? I am not selling any car in US. Your advice is appreciated!
Is it illegal to take a deposit and run your credit on a car that is already sold? My sister told us about a car dealer that was offering sales on 2006 minivans. We went and looked, I didn't like the 2006 models they had because they had no options, but I did find a van I fell in love with, it was a loaded 2002 Town and Country Limited Edition, for only 13, 000. I left a reasonable deposit since the banks were closed. This was Saturday evening. They told us they'd do the financing Monday morning and we could return after work Monday, sign the paperwork and pick it up. Well today I called to tell my sister about it and imagine my suprise when she tells me she did the same exact thing for the same exact vehicle Friday evening, and they called her Saturday morning to tell her that her paperwork was ready to be signed and that she could come pick it up Saturday afternoon. She couldn't make it Saturday so she told them she'd come get it Monday. I cannot understand why they showed me the vehicle and took my money and are putting points on my credit for something sold?
Bringing a leased car into Mexico from the US - how does it work? Can anyone shed any light on how this does or does not work? I have heard you can also sell your lease, but I'm not sure which is more work. I really don't want to have to make care payments if I'm living in Mexico. Besides, I can take the bus almost anywhere! Muchos gracias for any advice!
Can you do the fly to Sweden and pick up your car Volvo deal with BMW? Some friends of mine want a fuel efficient 7 seat SUV. I recommended the Diesel BMW X5, but they had already researched that and it isn't sold in the US. Would it be possible for them to get a ferry or some similar-like deal? Thanks
We just purchased a new car 2 weeks ago, the auto dealer had us sign a the contract papers and to sign we? would bring a promised amount that following friday as a deposit down, we drove off the lot with the new car. On the following next week we kept our promise, took the down payment in a form of a cashier's check to the auto finance place, we get there and they said oh we did not approve your loan we need an additonal amount of top of this deposit we can not take your deposit. Now, 2 weeks its been and nobody from this auto place placed a call to us about any problems. The finance guy let us again leave his lot with the cashier check and the new car stating when can you bring the car back. We placed a call to the sales guy who acutally sold us the car, he said to hang tight until Monday, which is today, should we return the car , but yet I doubt our bank will honor us in returning the cashier's check with the auto dealer's name on it!!!! Help!!
Paying someone to drive your car across the country? I'm doing a huge road trip in the USA for 2 months, then spending a couple of months in Canada. I don't want to use my car in Canada as the distances are so huge. And i don't want to sell it as i'm doing another 3 months in the US after. So how could i get my car from Vancouver......to Winnipeg? Are there people you can pay to drive it? Companies, obviously. Any idea of costs? And like, i wouldn't get to Winnipeg for maybe 2 months....... what could i do with the car, where can i keep it safe?
Which of the following sentences is grammatically correct?a. Us students have a lot of work to do.? b. Please return the book to us when you've read it. c. Who did you sell your old car to? d. John is a better baseball player than me.
Would you go to a website if given a business card on your car window? I sell diaper bags and want to target customers at the Babies R Us parking lot. Do you think putting business cards on their windshield is a good idea? I'm looking for cheap advertising methods.
moving across the US what is the best way for moving personal belongings? ok what is the cheapest way to move all your stuff from the eastcoast(NC) to the westcoast(CA)? would it be better to sell all your stuff on ebay or most of it and then just drive your 2 cars across the US or use a service like pods.com and have them move all your stuff and then just take 2 plane tickets? the estimate my friends got was $4000. how much would it cost to just drive a Uhaul van across the U.S.? and how much would it cost to just drive 2 cars across the U.S . assuming that the 2 people could sell all of their stuff on ebay? just trying to figure out the best way. i mean if it cost 4000 bucks for pods to move everything for you and you find out that to move your self will cost 3,500....is it worth the 500 bucks to go through the hassle of doing it your self?
"The US should only sell cars, shoes, computers, etc.... produced in the US.? That way we won't have to rely on other countries for our needs and more US citizens will have jobs". Write at least 1/2 page document either agreeing or disagreeing with this statement. Make sure to provide facts and evidence to back up your opinion.

If YOU are that neighbor who parks your car beside your neighbor's house, answer this? I have a neighbor who has parked his car on the side of my house for over a year. My house is on the corner with my side facing the street. His hous is directly across the street from the side of my house. He buys and sells cars as a hobby. His wife parks her car in the garage and he parks in the driveway, so there's plenty of parking on HIS side. However, the car to sell is ALWAYS parked on my side. They both work nights and keep to themselves. Last summer some one stole the tires off. We met them for the 1st time since they wanted to know if we had heard anything. His wife brought up parking on our side and said she told her husband he's being "country" parking there. He stopped parking there for 6 mo., UNTIL this week. They came out of their house not making contact w/us or speaking which tells me the've decided to resume parking there. In that small time we did some nice landscaping and set Christmas decorations out for the 1st time since we were happy to not have an ugly old car in the picture. His "new" old and rusty car (to sell) is back and has ruined our enjoyment of our property. I no longer want to turn the Christmas lights on for our 4 small children. We can't take pic's in our yard again since his car will be included. I'm thinking about writing these folks a letter. How do you think they will respond if I ask them to be considerate and park on their side. What would be less offensive words to use here. They obviously don't care what we think. But, I'm sure deep down inside they know this is wrong and not being a "good neighbor". When they park there, they tend to drive it like once a week. I still don't know them very well. They guy who parks there seems as if he could care less and rarely gives us eye contact or speaks to us when we're driving by or walking into our house. His wife is a little different, but I still have to go out of my way to speak to them. I feel a letter is appropriate since I don't know them well and since I don't know thier work schedules. What words would be polite, yet effective if YOU were receiving it? It's not illegal unless the tags are out. And he does move the car at least once a week.
I am trying to find out if there is any tax deduction for temporarily loaning your car to a non-profit.? A missionary friend of ours is here in the US for about 1 year so they need a car and we have one that we either need to sell or receive enough tax deduction to afford not selling it. I was told by someone that you could deduct their mileage and maybe more, but am not sure how to find out more about this....
How is the US economy doing from your personal perspective? YOU Your mortgage payments your rent your property tax your wages your dollars purchasing power How is your town doing ? Is it printing "script" Do you live in or around Detroit or another auto maker's town? How is the local industry in your town or city ? The people I know who work for the auto sector have been laid off or had their hours severely reduced . I haven't been to the towns which were dependent on the auto sector yet but I hear things are tough and getting worse I live in one of the major cities in Canada I don't think that we have been hit as hard as the US has --- but I believe it is coming -- Maybe I am wrong I am not impressed by the food prices -- it has gone up by nickels and dimes here and there --- But it is beginning to add up and change the totals at the end of the bill The papers are not filled with jobs any more and although the TV just got finished telling me Auto sales were up I don't believe them I am beginning to notice empty buildings and the sold and moved out car lots are among them ( I like to believe what I see instead of the people on TV ) No it isn't a lot --- no it isn't the doom and gloom all is lost feeling -- but it is all there none the less Condo sales continue to grow -- at least condo building continue to be built (and what a scam that is) The price of beer is outrageous -- But I have been saying that for 15 yrs plus now so that might mean I am a Scottish / Canadian from rural Ontario

Can you take legal action if a car dealer removes the check engine light from your car? Bought a used Mazda6 from a dealership my family has been going to (also a mechanic) for about 15 years and they are good friends. We have previously purchased 2 cars from them so we had no reason to not trust him when purchasing this mazda when he said it was in good coniditon. Fast forward about 3 weeks after buying the car, the check engine light would come on ALL the time. Wed bring it in for them to check out, they'd say they 'fixed' something and I was all set. This happened about 8 times, then after the last time I went in I noticed when I started my car and all the lights in the instrument cluster illuminated, EXCEPT the check engine light, as if it were taken out. The car started having other problems so we took it to a different mechanic to look at and give us an estimate. Turns out the car basically needs a new engine, and the check engine light was not removed, BUT blocked with black silicone so it would not be visible when it comes on. Isn't it illegal for a dealership to do that!? Its like changing the odometer to sell the car. Can I take legal aciton for this? I have all the documentation of when the car went in for check engine lights and I also have pictures of the check engine light and silicone blocking it from when the new mechanic took apart the dashboard to see if it was true. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to make it clear. Thanks for any help!!!!
Is it right to be charge fees if you decide to leave your car at a tow company because you can't afford? We live in southern California and My grandparents' car got towed from the street on Dec. 29,2009 because of expired sticker registration. Today, Jan. 5, 2010, 8 days later, I tried to get the car from the towing company and they are charging is $645. It took me awhile to get the release paper from the police station because the car registration was suspended. The DMV was close for a three day weekend and it takes two days to clear the suspension. Anyway, the towing company said to get the 95 Toyota Camry is $645 because $175 for towing service, $70 lien sale fee and $400 for storage fee(50 times 8 days=$400). My grandparents couldn't afford to pay for the fees, they're both retired and they have a fixed income. We tried to bargain but they said they can't lower the price. Since, we don't have that amount of money, we decided to leave the car. Pretty much giving the car away. The problem is and my question is that the towing company said there are still going to be fees to be charge later on to the registered owner if you leave the car. The towing company said "if you leave the car, they have to keep the car for 45 days before they can sell it and while the car is there, it is being charge lien sale fee for $70 a day, the towing company said that's $2000 fee. If the car is sold for less than $2000, then the difference is going to get charge to the registered owner. For example, the fee is $2000- $1000(amount the car is sold)=$1000,this amount will be charge to my grandparents. Is this right?? We already surrendered the car to them. In addition, the towing company said, "in order to not get charged like that, you give us the pink slip and pay $375." I replied, " We're already giving you the car and you want us to give you the pink slip and pay you $375?," and they answered, "Yeah." Isn't this a rip off? We left the car there because we can not afford it. $645+170( release car from police station)= $815 not included the registration fee from the DMV. " We went back to Bob's Towing and decided to get the car and pay the total fee of $695. The lady that helped us yesterday is the dame lady that helped us today. She did the paper work and gave is the receipt. When they pulled up the car in the front lot. My dad said he would not be able to drive the car because the tire is popped. We told the lady the tIre is popped and we also told her that the car was in good condition that's why we looked for money and came back for the car. She said she can't check the paper work until the time between 4-5pm because she already dropped the paper work in the safe box. So, she wouldn't be able to check to see if the car was in good condition when they towed it. We got that. We will come back around 4-5pm but we asked her if we can leave the car until then because we can't drive it because of popped tire, and she replied that to leave the car, we're going to have to pay for another $50. It's not our fault she can't open their file until 4-5pm. <a href="http://s731.photobucket.com/albums/ww315/tintin_22/?action=view&current=a3f7b6d7.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww315/tintin_22/a3f7b6d7.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> <a href="http://s731.photobucket.com/albums/ww315/tintin_22/?action=view&current=8156dfd9.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww315/tintin_22/8156dfd9.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> Here's the picture of the popped tire. http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww315/tintin_22/a3f7b6d7.jpg http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww315/tintin_22/8156dfd9.jpg
Road trip from NY to LA? I am from New Zealand planning to do a month long road trip from NY to LA in couple of months time. Just wondering is it better to buy a car (US$1000) or rent a car and stay in motels or backpackers (I will be travelling alone) along the way. And if I to buy a car what are legal things (mechanical/Insurance) i need to look. Here in New zealand it's better to buy a cheap car and do the trip then sell your car which works out cheaper than a renting a car. Thanks Guys/Gals To "gtoacp"- if you are here in NZ for couple of weeks, i would suggest you rent a car. If you are staying more than a month then i would suggest buying a car (you can get an OK car for as low as NZD 1000). Thanks for the answer
help with my car stolen? SOON AS POSSIBLE? ok I put my used car to sell on craigslist, 2 dudes show up, I told them I do not have the TITLE, we lost it, he said ok I'll give you the money now, sign a paper that you sold me your car, till the pinkslip comes then I will come pick it up. The car is not registered under my name, so I told them lets go to my work place, let my dad sign it, since he is the registered owner, they agreed we came out, he signed the papers, they left, they were supposed to call me and come down so we can do the DMV paperwork today. They never showed up and answer my calls. The car is still under my dads name, and we didint fill out any paperwork for the DMV. I realized that Its under my dads, if they do sh** with the car, they are comming after us. I called DMV they said you have to feel out a liability form, that you are not resposible for the car anymore, but I dont have their DRIVER LISENCE NUMBER, ADDRESS and all that information, JUST NAME AND LASTNAME....WHAT CAN I DO NOW, HOW CAN I REPORT? WE BOTH HAVE PAPERS THAT I AM SELLING THE CAR TO THIS PERSON....JUST A HAND WRITTEN PAPER........HELP SOON AS POSSIBLE....THANKS!!!!
Mechanics/car experts: I need your opinions! Is this a good deal? Well our '98 Lumina has finally bitten the dust, in that there are now too many things wrong with it to be worth fixing, since it has 260K miles on it. Our mechanic who is very honest and friendly says don't worry with it anymore. However, he has offered us another car and is willing to sell it to us for just the cost of repairs; it's a '95 Ford Taurus station wagon with approx. 160K miles on it; the customer who dropped it off at his garage simply didn't need the car, since he/she has three other cars. It needs $2100 worth of brake work but once this work is done, the car will be fully repaired and will also pass our state inspection, which means it won't need anything else until next year, unless something else goes wrong. My question is, what do we have to lose? If we instead were to buy a car off Craigslist, let's say we spend $1500...and then it has to be inspected (as per NH law) and for all we know, could need another $1000 worth of work to pass inspection. I think $2100 to fix this Taurus and have it be fully inspected is a pretty good deal, since basically our mechanic is giving us the car and only charging us the repairs. What do you think? We desperately need a better car; we are limping around right now on a '96 Geo Metro, 2-dr clown car (lol that's what it feels like!) and we have two children in carseats (one of whom is a newborn!) and it is very hard to get them in and out of the car and there is NO room for anything extra; we have a tiny "trunk" area since it's a hatchback but it's not much. Not to mention that the Metro has its own issues (we just had to have a transmission line replaced; the heat shield rattles; and the power steering is gone, to name a few). The station wagon would be a dream, with all its extra room, etc. Opinions please! I don't want my need for a nice roomy car to cloud my judgment and I don't know much about cars. Thanks for any help!
How long is too long for a car to sit on your property? Ok here is my delima: We sold a car 8 years ago, and they wanted my husband to paint it, he did, well we did not hear from them for 3 years, he came by one day and asked my husband to build him a motor, he brought the motor and parts etc with him, again we did not hear from him for another 3 years, he stopped by one day just to check on things the car was sitting in the yard, another 2 years goes by we have no way to get in touch with him, we are cleaning the yard due to insurance reasons have the car hauled to the crusher and 2 months later he calls my husband and we told him what we done and now he is taking us to court and wants $5,500.00!! What the heck if you wanted your car you should have came and got it!! We are not a storage yard!
Dont remap your car... bad idea not as good as i thought? I drive a 2006 Audi a3 2.0TDI i asked my local garage where i have been to for about 20 years if they know anywhere that remaps and they got some guy to remap it for £200 ... the remap has its good points... better mpg ( upto 70mpg @ 50mph in 6th) and major mid-range punch..and low rev pull... unfortunalty the car needed a new dual mass flywheel and clutch ( £1000) then water leaks so new water pump and cambelt!! which was only just changed not so long ago (£600) and still have water leaks and just been told the head gasket is going ( £900-£1000) and its gone through the front tyres like i would eating chocolate, its come to the point where we have to sell our car.. we loved the car but the remap has just started destorying all engine components... what do you people think?? i also blame the garage we have been going to for the past 20 years... i dont know anything about engine tuning... our audi had about 108,000 miles on the clock when it was remaped and they told us about the dual mass flywheel and didnt tell us that the remap would make it worse.. any thoughts??

What do you wish you had from other countries? I'm from the US and want Minxy car products.? What do you wish your country sold? I love minxy products but you can not buy them in the US They're nice for a girl but not too girly. I also wish we had Kindereggs from Germany. What would you like????
I need advice -car sale!? We had a car, an Rx-7. We put it on consignment at a car shop. We ask for 8,000 and they kept whatever amount above the 8 grant that they sold the car for. They have had the car for 3 months. We decided to stop in and get the GPS we realized we left in the glove box. I got a weird feeling going in there. They has us sit on the couch until the office manager came back from lunch. He walked in and said "oh yea, we sold your car yesterday and I was just going to call you as soon as I got back from lunch". So our car is gone and so is the GPS (whatever, as long as the car is sold, I guess, we shouldn't have left it in the glove box). But then he said bring me the title and I will get you your check. Should we really give these people the title and take the check? What happens if it bounces? They have the title, that must mean they now own the car, right? It could have been a coincidence. But they also said they shipped our car out of state, how did they ship our car Without the title? I have an odd feeling. Any advice?
I plan to buy my son a car, what car do you recommend? So that dreaded moment has come, my son is 16 and just got his license. He got good grades last semester and he met all of my demands now I must comply to my part of the deal. So what is safe, economical, and reliable? I am open to all makes and models I just need something cheap and reliable. I would also like the car to have a manual transmission (stick-shift). Of course, I don't want you to sell me your car I'm just want to know what to look for. And I mean super-cheap. Has more than 100k, a beater car just like all of us teenagers had. Andy, I read that article. It also said that you should buy a Honda CRV instead of a Jeep Wrangler and if you knew anything about cars you'd know that they are not the same. And if anyone owned a Ford Focus they know that it's a piece of S H I T. Your answer is invalid. And Greg, I'm not sure maybe 3000. I guess I would go for cheap and cool

Is there a way to find out if a private seller for a car that im looking at in the UK is legit? ill just copy and paste what he emailed to me.....this car was also found on craigslist. It just sounds to good to be true Hi, Thank you for your interest in my car. This is a 2005 AUDI S4 NAVIGATION LOW MILES,Transmission: Automatic,Engine: 8 - Cyl. 4.2 L,Exterior Color: Blue,Interior Color: Black,Body Style: Sedan,Title Status:clear,All Wheel Drive,Automatic Transmission,Multitronic CV,Tiptronic,Air Bags,4 Wheel Disc Brakes,Anti-Lock Brakes,Anti-Skid Control,Traction Control,Adjustable Steering Wheel,Air Conditioning,Bose Sound System Mileage: 22,200 miles VIN: WAUPL68E45A042405 Here you can find more pictures of the car: http://s777.photobucket.com/albums/yy60/trues4/ (if the above link does not work copy and paste it into a new web browser window). The car has been well taken care of, always kept in the garage.Flawless exterior/interior condition,no scratches and no dents. It has never been involved in an accident. The engine starts and drives like new and the paint looks great. It comes with US clear title which will be signed and notorized in the buyer's name.Have original manuals and all keys. I'm an US Air Force Sgt.currently stationed in the United Kingdom. The car is here with me. It was bought in the US and shipped to Europe, but it was never permanently registered here, the car is still registered in the US.The car is for sale locally as well, but there are slim chances of this to happen. In order to be able to register this car here in the UK the buyer would have to pay very high import/custom taxes that will double the price. So I decided to sell the car back in the US. The price is $4,850.00 US Dollars including shipping from the UK to the US and delivery to your home address. So if you decide to buy this car or need further information please get back to me as soon as possible. Thank you Sgt.Raymond Douglas

Can you buy a used car if it's inspected in your state, but registered in another? Okay. So here's the deal. I found a car on Craigslist that I would really like to buy. The lady had just got it inspected in my state (Texas), but the registration on it is still in her old state (California), along with her old plates. How would we go about doing this to where it would be registered in Texas? Would she have to do it before she sells it to us? Or can we go ahead and buy it, then do it ourselves? Thanks so much!
What is with these "run your car on water" ads on the side bar? Are these businesses actually selling this bull in the US? How is the FTC not shutting these fraud artists down? If anyone here has ever actually bought one I hope you have chased the people who sold it to you down and got your money back. A search of "run car water" shows that a LOT of answerers are buying into this stuff. GYAH!!!!!!?! Matthew NO it is not possible to run a car on water. This is demonstrably false. The ones you have seen shown to you (these "water converters") are really running on the battery - when the battery dies, they stop running. No energy is derived from the water.
Can I sell US registered car in Canada? Nothing illegal with our car. We are planning for a road trip around the world. We want to know if we can sell our car in Canada before heading to Europe. It's a used car, clean title. If we can do that, do we need to pay any tax or other fees? and is the process complicated? Thanks for your help in advance.
What are some ways that average persons can help the US economy? ? how we can help the economy - my ideas: don't sell your stock or mutual funds hold onto it, prices will go up. Buy American made: clothes, electronics (GE, RCA), food, cars (I have owned Fords, Chevys and Toyotas: US cars are just as good). This will get our textile industries, car plants, steel plants, and other businesses going again instead of helping overseas corp. Do not support corporations (medical insurance companies, Exxon)) where the ceo's make millions. Support candidates who will put the US first. "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" (JFK)
Are you still going to buy an American car? Did you know that in the $14 billion auto bailout there is a little known provision? It reads something like this. In order to better protect the American taxpayer we the gov't of the US are naming American car owners as as a guarantor of all loans to GM, Ford and Chrysler. What this means is that if one or more of these companies does not repay the loan you as an American car holder can and probably will be liable!! US gov't officials have stated that the defaulted loans would be be prorated and added to all registered owners of American cars tax liability in the US. Does this make you think twice about buying domestic? Does it mean you will try to sell your American made car? . I can't believe how stupid some people in this country are. We complain about gov't bailouts and then the next day we reward those same companies with a purchase. A true American buys a Japanese car. Anybody with a brain knows a Ford is another name for junk. In a free economy one should buy the product that gives them the best value for the money paid. Well I should not have to tell you this, but in the car industry that is a Toyota!! Anyone who believes they are somehow helping th US economy by buying domestic is either very naive or just stupid!! Buying a product you know is junk (A domestic car) just drags down the economy and lowers not only your standard of living but the country's as a whole. Gov't protectionism did not work during the great depression of the 1930's and consumer protectionism will not work now!! So do your country the USA a favor and let's show the corrupt US auto industry enough is enough. Buy a Toyota. Thank you To imbecile below who called me a liberal. you're the liberal but just to stupid to know/!! I believe in a free market. You want to buy products based on where they are made!! Liberals promote protectionism I buy products based on the value and unless you are some kind of moron you can't with a straight face say an American made car is anywhere near as good as a Japanese built car. You (the American made car industry) can most likely compete on quality with a Chinese built car and probably a European car but up against Tond Honda you fail miserably. Also to the person who mentioned his alternator. Your Toyota's lasted 150,000 miles. Let me guess how many miles your Ford's alternator lasted, maybe 40,000 if you are lucky.
How do you like your tax dollars going to help Finland with Al Gore's Car Company? WASHINGTON -- A tiny car company backed by former Vice President Al Gore has just gotten a $529 million U.S. government loan to help build a hybrid sports car in Finland that will sell for about $89,000. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125383160812639013.html Why is Obama sending jobs overseas? Why not have the company in the US and employ Americans?

Seller of a used car agreed to sell car to us but then changed his mind and returned the down payment? So my parents were looking at the van that they liked and we made a deal with the seller. We gave him the down payment and would pay the full amount in a few days and pick up the car. He later called us the same night that we had made the payment and told us he changed his mind to sell it. Is there any legal action to getting him to sell the car? We had spent a lot of time researching and a lot of gas driving to his house to check out the car and now he does not want to sell it. Any way we can still buy it?

What US car would be the easiest shipping to Japan for a DOD civilian. ? I have free car shipping to Japan I know about the Emissions test being a bit difficult. I was wondering if there was a particular make of car sold in the US that would be easy to ship to Japan making the emissions test cake for me. I have been blessed this weekend with the opportunity of getting a new car. Im considering a Scion Tc, or maybe a Civic Si. Thoughts on those cars as well as suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank in advance. Yes I am aware that I can buy a car in Japan as well. Although I won't be able to bring it home with me. I know from actually being there that the quick sales from Military personel leaving in a rush have great deals although, the cars at times are not to nice looking I rather bring my own. I am aware of Maintinence issues as well hence, the question. Try again guys. . .

why don't European cars sell very well in the us? and vice versa? i saw a graph of us sales and from 1965 to the 2005 european car sale stayed at 5% yet japanese sales went from 2% to 40%, is it because of price, import taxes. US cars designed for the states that shipped over to europe don't sell well like cadilliac, dodge etc. any good reason for either? geoff why does the us hate diesel?

They've left a deposit and gone off to get the rest of the money. NOW we realise that we only have two pages of the Registration Certificate. The page we're supposed to fill in to notify the DVLA of the sale is missing, Can we get a form from the Post Office instead? Please? We have part 10 but not part 6. Yes, It's registered in her name.

Does anyone know if and where the Smart Car is selling in the US? A friend just sent me this information and I have been thinking about replacing my old compact for a couple years though it still runs well as the gas mileage is lower than the newer ones. Have you seen the SmartCar, it's looks like a clown car but they get about 60 miles to the gallon. I don't think they are selling them in the US but we are only about 15 miles from the Canadian border and you can buy them up there. There are quite a few around here, in bright colors. The small one is a two-seater and they have a bigger one that holds 4. They run about $8,000, but I don't think the US will allow them a dealorship because they just don't use much gas.

My dad wants to buy a car in the US and sell it in Canada because it's cheaper over here. Is it worth it? My dad thinks that all you have to do is just buy the car here and just put it in the Classifieds over there waiting for it to sell. He doesn't listen to me when I say that's probably not worth it because I'm sure there's more to it than just putting the ad. For example, paying taxes to import the car there, changing the info with the Canadian DMV, installing daytime lights (reqd. in Canada), etc. I'm sure people wouldn't be dumb enough to buy a car that was meant to be used in the US.

Is a car dealer responsible for selling us a car that has frame damage? It's value is only 1/2 bcause of this I need to sell my daughter's 2004 Honda Civic, due to financial reasons. Took it to get appraised, that's when I found out about the frame damage. Was told there are clamp marks on the pinch rails. This was not disclosed to us when we bought the car in 2005, making it just a year old. A vehicle history report came back clean during the appraisal. So how does this happen? The car has not been in any major accidents since we've had it for this to happen. She owes almost $13,000 on it yet, and I was offered only $6,500. So can anybody out there help me out on what to do? Thanks to all, in advance!
How to sell vehicle without being present in the US? Friends, I will be out of US for next Three months or so. I need to sell my car. I have a friend here in the US who can sell it for fair price. Can we sell our car before divorce is final? Things didn't work out and we're planning to file for summary dissolution in a week. We jointly own a car and both of us agreed to sell it after 2-3 months (when i get my new car). Is it legal to sell the car before the divorce is final, if both of us agreed to sell it? What would happen if I sign an auto lease before the divorce is final? I'm planning to lease instead of financing because I have plans for purchasing a house in a year or two (I've heard the auto loan would raise the mortgage interest rate).

we bought a car for 100 dollars but the car doesnt work and now she wont pay us back our money what do we do? the girl we bought the car from said all we had to do to get the car to start was buy a couple of fuses but we bought the fuses and now it still doesnt work after we told her we wanted our money back she said no that she didnt want the car back and that we werent getting our money back so she basically screwed us over 100 dollars and now she wants us to buy a new starter which she was not apart of our deal and plus she said that after we fix the car if we do that we need to pay her 400 more dollars for the car but that if its just not gonna work at all that we can do whatever we want which would be ok but the car is still under the guys name that she first bought it from so we cant even sell it to the impound so if we take her to court would we get our money and would she get into bigger trouble cause she sold to an unlicenced citizen and not only that but she sold us a car that wasnt under her name and we didnt know that of course until after we bought the car plus she skipped town
How to sell a brand new car with too many problems? We bought a 2007 VW Rabbit, clutch burned out at 14,000 and came back to us with alignment problems, CD player has scratchy sound quality at times, sales/service/customer relations departments are rude and refuse to work with us and we just want to sell the car without damaging credit. Still a big loan to pay off, as car was financed for 7 years when we bought it. Haven't even owned the car a full year! Any suggestions?
Whats the most recent best selling car or truck in the US? Does any association post figures like this?

Anyone sell a car to CARMAX during the 7 day appraisal period? I took my car to CARMAX to have it appraised and received the total. The offer is good for 7 days. If a separate car dealer doesn't give us a good price as a trade in tomorrow we will take it by CARMAX and sell it to them. Has anyone taken their car back to them in the 7 day period? Did you have any trouble getting the price that they originally offered?
What always seems to need modifying in order to import a car into US? It seems like whenever you hear about an exciting, unique, car from Europe they always give the excuse that they can't sell the car in America because they would have to make changes to meet regulations. Other than moving the steering wheel to the other side, what does that mean? Does the USA - The country that gave the world the Hummer H2 and the Ford Explorer have stricter emissions laws than Europe? Is it because we use different formulations of gasoline? Any insight would be apprecieted.
can a dealership sell you a car when they cant obtain the title? ok this is my issue, i bought a used car from a dealership on dec. 5th 2007. the guy who sold us the car told us that the title would be mailed to us once the check cleared. well the check cleared and the money was takin out of my fiances account, but no title was ever recieved. 30 days passed and my 30day tags expired... i went to the dealership and they said that they still hadnt recieved my title. ok, so they put another set of 30 day tags on. again the tags expired, no title... and again they had to put another (3rd) set of 30 day tags on the car. now we are just getting the run around about the car title and where it is. the dealership still hasnt recieved the title yet. what is the law in regards to selling a car that the dealership cannot obtain the title for in 30days? they said to my father that if they cant get the title they have to buy my car back even though i put tires, brakes and a stereo in it. for all that they put me through, should i get a discount on my next car? should i contact a lawyer???
