Overhaulin'

If you modify your car (ex. cold air intake or exhaust), can you still get the car serviced at the dealership?

Serviced = oil changed/ tune up.

  1. yes but if you have a warranty on the car it will be voided with any mods
  2. yes, but from what i understand the warranty is only voided if any issues arise directly relating to the performance mod on the vehicle, for example if you put an intake on the car and then had a problem with the air flow sensor than they wouldn't cover it. but if you had a problem with the trunk latch, that would still be covered, i would recommend calling the dealership to be sure. and they may have to reprogram the computer in the vehicle to have proper fuel ratios as well.
  3. As another poster said, if it is unrelated to the mods you put in, they should, key word should cover it. But I would watch if they try and tell you that that it's because of what you've added onto the car or that you improperly installed the part.
  4. yes of couse you can take it to the dealership. You are covered by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)). It is against the law for your dealership to void the warrenty of the car. If something does break then they have to prove that it was the part that infact caused the problem. here's a link to SEMA and the information http://www.sema.org/Main/SemaOrgHome.aspx?ID=50100
