Will it hurt me that the person who hit my car has the same insurance company as me?
I got into a car accident on Wednesday, making my Thanksgiving horrible. I was rear ended on 95, forcing me into the back of another car. I found out that the person who hit me also has Progressive insurance. Is this going to screw me? Is a company going to go after itself as much as say it would if it was another company? Does it matter? Is the only positive of this ordeal going to be it will be resolved faster?

- It doesn't matter if you have the same insurance. If he is at fault they will pay and your premium will not got up. Hope your holiday got better.
- Happened to me but we had State Farm. I got my car fixed $3600 worth of damage. They paid all my medical bills plus I got a compensation of $6500 as a settlement and my insurance did not go up.
- I was in the same situation a couple years ago, whereas the person who hit me had the same insurance company and it worked out great for me. The insurance company put everything on their insurance so I didn't have to pay a deductible or anything to get my truck fixed.
- Could actually help. It's all coming from the same pocket, so you won't have two insurance companies tussling for reducing their share of the financial responsibility at the expense of the other.
- If your insurance company doesn't pay off as you see fit, get a lawyer and sue them just like another insurance company would. Allot of lawyers will take the case on what they can win.
