ok, if I am liable fo an accident?
Further to another q, some were of the opinion that I hadn't a case at a junction, regardless of the other cars speed (I had a sinking feeling on that at the outset, to be honest, as a friend had incredulously found a year or so back when hit by a car iniitailly travelling approx 100mph). In new territory here, so what now? Report to the police, then insurance (it was 4 days ago), if it's so cut and dried in this scenario do I just give the go ahead for the work to be done and then they pay? What's to stop them taking the mick. My friend, who would have fitted the door in question for free (a mechanic, a professional, for the information of the poster concerned with that comment) says the quote being bandied is ridiculous. Any advice would be most welcome so I don't get in a kerfufle when talking to my insurers tomorrow! Ps: My premium is about £650, the cost of repair to her car about £600.. would anyone be able to say if it's better in the long run to pay the bill myself

- Yes, file an accident report with the police, and provide the police report number to your insurance company and let them determine who's fault it is, although when I read your previous question, it seems like it is your fault for pulling out in front of the vehicle in question. She may have been speeding but unless you have witnesses to corroborate your story, it would be hard to prove it. If her bill is lower than the amount of your deductible, you might as well pay out of pocket, provided this is not a stretch for you. Or, you could just let your insurance handle everything. After all, this is what you pay them for.
- Are you in the UK? Then, for a start, the police will not be interested - you're only required to report an accident to them if someone's hurt. Secondly, never admit liability to any one - that's not for you to decide, no matter how obvious. What you need to decide is how much is your no claim bonus worth to you, if you have one? That's what you'd lose if a claim was made against your insurance. And how much your excess is - that amount you'll have to find yourself anyway. Cheaper for your insurers to deal with it? Then report it to them and let them sort it out. Apart from anything else, they'll wish to see several estimates for the repairs before agreeing to it. The other party's entitled to have the repairs done professionally at the going rate.
- your insurance premium may rocket and you may be liable for excess which might be £200/300 what you agreed i would just pay be careful next time might be some1 s life...
