My new TOYOTA car found demaged on the engine piston, while it still under warranty period.?
I am TOYOTA VIOS car owner, my new car still under warrantty period. I found my new car was on hold in the Toyota Service Centre ( Malaysia ) for more than 1 month. Initialy , they don't want to tell me what happend. After I insisted then they just told me that my car was found damaged for the engine parts as below : a)CYC HEAD ASSY b)PISTON STD c)PISTON RING SET STD d)GASKET KIT e)CYCLINDER BLOCK f)CONNECTING ROD Almost 80% demaged . They replace the demaged parts, but whatever parts which can use , they install back to the engine. That mean my new car engine will find the new repalcement part and old parts mix use together in one engine at the same time. I am worry are this engine will dangerous to me ? However this Toyota Service Centre refuse to give me writting report for explain what happened. Can I feedback to TOYOTA JAPAN ? How to make complaint to TOYOTA Malaysia ? Can Claim for replace a new car ? Please help me. Thanks.

- As long as they replaced the damaged parts under warranty, that's all they are obligated to do. I'm not sure if there are any lemon laws in Malaysia or not; but you may wish to seek legal council. I've seen cars with this sort of repair run fine for many years afterward, so you're probably okay.
- I believe here in the USA, the Toyota dealer negotiates with the manufacturer (Toyota) over whether your failed engine will be rebuilt or replaced. Since the "block" is the major lower engine assembly, I would have expected that it would have been cheaper for the dealer and Toyota to replace the whole engine considering all the labor involved in rebuilding the engine. Of course you would prefer having a whole new engine, because in-shop engine rebuilds are not as good as the original engine manufacturing quality in my opinion. Of course the dealer's response to your request for a new engine instead of a rebuilt engine will be to assure you that you'll have a complete new warranty on the rebuilt engine starting from when it's installed in the car. You may be forced to accept the rebuilt engine, and then prepare to sue the manufacturer for a new engine if problems develop again, or performance is not up to par. Request that your dealer give you their regional Toyota contact and talk to him about the decision to rebuild rather than install a new engine.
- Look like you are sold with a sub-standard product, which has escape the wachful eyes of the quality controllers. Vios is made in Thailand, so don't expected it to be on par with the japanese standard of course it is still several classes above the proton, that made in malaysia. You may requested for the replacement of the complete engine as so many parts were needed to be replaced. However, the dealer will try hard not to let you know why and what cause it. A month in the workshop is more than enough for them to tear down the whole engine to carry out check and analysis. They owe you an explanation where you can be in a position to decide whether to accept a repaired engine or a brand new engine. Give them a letter of demand from a lawyer. Unless you decide to take some legal action, they will normally treat you like a fool and corner you to take it or leave it situation. There were many cases, inclusive the BMW, Mercedes brands, they have no choice but to replace the defective engine - there is no way to tell whether after the repair the engine is able to perform as a new engine suppose to perform.
- Humm there is something fishy is they refuse to give you the invoice for the repair. I would do this in steps. First talk to the Service manager at the dealership where it was fixed and demand the repair order that has everything written on it what was repaired. After all it is your car. If that does not work go to the dealership and talk to the manager or head of the dealership about your problem and tell them how unsatisfied you are. If that does not work go to the Toyota website and call there service center. Toyota is VERY caring of it's customers if you have a complaint i think they will do all they can to help. My wife works for Toyota in there corporate office and all i ever hear is how much they care about there customers. I will also include a customer service phone number i think might help you. Toyota Customer Service Phone: 800-331-4331 Mon - Fri, 5:00 am - 6:00 pm PT Sat, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm PT Fax: 310-468-7814 All this being said i do not believe that the repair that was done would be dangerous to you but it may affect the reliability of the engine in the future.
