- Priceline. I get my rentals in Vegas every year for 15 dollars a day, and they always upgrade me since they never have enough compact cars.
- Thats a really good question! I've found that renting cars online is really the best way to go. Also check with your bank, credit union, credit card provider, or place of employment to see if they offer any incentives for renting from one company or another. If you do it by phone, be sure to keep other company quotes at hand to see if the company you're dealing with will match the lowest quote you've received. Car rental companies compete fiercely for business, so do your homework! Be sure to get all the facts too: Unlimited mileage Insurance Weekend/Weekday Free Upgrades I do not work for a car rental company, but if I were to do business again, I'd start with Avis and Alamo. They seem to be the best for the money and the VALUE. WHATEVER you do, be sure to read the fine print, and if you have questions, be sure to ask!
- I normally use enterprise car rentals online and I will rent a full size car, knowing that most places never have a full size car in stock. Last time I did this I got upgraded to a 300C for the same price as the full size rate of 17.99 per day. The normal rate on the 300 was 54.99 per day. There is always a slim chance of getting that fullsize though, but this has never happened to me. Don't be afraid to ask them what else they have too. About a year ago I rented another car and they told me they'd upgrade me to a maxima for free. I asked what else they had available and they said they had a Hummer H3 that nobody would rent for $5 more per day. I took the Hummer! Make sure to make your plans in advance, at least a week, to get a cheap rate. Good luck!
- rent online, and if you can pick up the car at an off airport location, those rentals are MUCH cheaper than renting at an airport. I prefer Enterprize, they've always been the cheapest when I've looked, and they're very friendly and customer service oriented.
