How much is a large car dealership willing to discount a new used car with no problems and low mileage?
I live in houston tx and am looking at a 2007 VW Jetta. The listing price is $15,995...I want to get it at 14k

- All you have to do is make them that offer. They will resist of course. It's only business, but you need to let them know that's all your willing to give up & that's all there is to it. Do not inform them of where you need to be monthly. That's called payment shopping and it will always cost ya. If the price is right, so will the monthly payment.
- ok ok i sell cars i shouldnt tell you this but hit them way low in it tell them you want to by it for like eleven or twelve k but wait till the bring out the proposal then when they do turn over the paper and right i will buy today for 11,500 and sign it and then see what they do.
- i work at a dealership.....and the only way you will get it to 14k would be with rebates if there are any....if not maybe 15k...there isnt alot of profit margin in new cars.....especially cheaper cars under 15.....the more expensive a car the more profit margin the more discount.... ps there should be huge rebates if its a 2007 leftover....2009 models r coming out soon eric r
- you could live in TIBUKTU,and it wouldnt matter... im a woman, and i let my husband do all my negotionating when it comes to buying a vehicle... get your dad or hubby boyfriend negotiate it... this is a PROVEN FACT THAT MEN GET BETTER CAR DEALS THAN WOMAN... DONT BELIEVE ME...???? ask motor trend/ car and driver/oprah/consumer reports/your mom../the man youre buying the car from... ps sounds like a great deal!!! cool little car!!! good luck
- It all depends on the dealership and how long they have been sitting on the used car. If it has been sitting for a long time and it is taking room in their inventory, they may be very open to selling it cheaply just to get rid of it. However, if it is a recent trade in or demo and it is a fast selling model car, knocking off 2 grand may be very difficult because they know they can sell it to someone else for close to asking price.
- There is NO such thing as a New used car. That advertising is against the law in my state.
- If the car is a used car (meaning it was previously titled and traded in), the dealer has sufficient mark up in the vehicle that you should be able to get it for $14,000 (you may have to stretch to $14,500). If you ask for any more money off than that, they're going to tell you to take a hike. What you are up against is the fact that the dealership thinks that they can get more money for the car from someone else. They are not just going to give the car away, and you cannot expect them to. You may want to consider moving on it quickly though, as prices are starting to climb back up for the spring and summer.
