Do car dealers really give graduation discounts?

I am going to look at a used 2002 Monte Carlo at a Chevy dealer tomorrow. I don't want to look like a fool if I ask.

1. Yes. Its not really the car dealer, but rather General Motors that offers a college graduate rebate of about $500. The dealer does not give you anything, almost all the rebates come from the manufacturer.
2. Usually its new car dealers, but whats wrong with calling up and asking first.
3. They do offer grad discounts,however they are generally between 500-1000$ and even if they do I am not sure they would on a used car.
4. They do have special rebates for recent college graduates (proof required) but it's for NEW cars only.
