Whats the cheapest new car I can buy?

I've recently decided I'm not going to buy a used car but I'm going to buy a brand new car. Only problem is that I don't have $25,000.00. I want to know what the cheapest brand new cars are? Like Honda's, Mazda's, Chevy's, Subaru's, etc. Whats the cheapest brand new car money can buy?

  1. I just had this conversation with my son. It seems that every person MUST own at least one brand new car in their life to satisfy the urge to have that BRAND NEW CAR. But it is a very costly act. Because of depreciation a buyer of a new car will take a terrific whack. A person will come out SOOOO much better if they can find a one to two year old car with 30K miles or less....... BUT I had to do it myself - go and buy a NEW car just to satisfy that urge and I guess everybody does. But if you can be the rare exception and buy a used Subaru, Mazda, Nissan, etc..... instead of a brand new Kia, Hyundai, or American "starter car" - in the end you will have done yourself a BIG favor. I challenge you - be smarter than me and the majority of folks, don't buy that NEW one - buy a lightly used car.
  2. The cheapest car out there is the Chevy Aveo. i think they start around $10000 for a basic model. If you want a Mazda, Honda or something like that expect to start in the $14000's.

  4. I would say that this is probably the worst time ever to buy a new car, with gas prices higher than they have ever been. Calculate all the money that you would throw down with a brand new car. The car itself, dealer fees, stupid warranties that you don't need (warranties are cheaper if you buy them directly yourself instead of through a dealer), insurance (most dealers require that you have full coverage on a vehicle that you finance from them), etc. Is it really worth 3-4 years of hassle and payments and interest? To me, a used car in good condition that you can pay off in half the time would be a far more worthwhile investment. But if you insist on buying a new car, why not try one of the "green" cars, the Chevy Cobalt is relatively inexpensive. Other good picks are Honda Accords and Civics. Nissans aren't as great as they used to be however, the newer ones are having a lot of problems. As ever, Toyota is a good choice, Camrys, Solaras and Corollas are reliable. Mazda is junk. I bought one two years ago, and I will never buy one again. They're Ford in kimonos and they'll eat every single dime out of you they can. Subarus are decent, they're one of few cars still manufactured with a boxer-style engine, so if that intrigues you, that might be a decent choice for you.
  5. I bought a brand new car last year and think that it was a mistake. I like the car, but I wish that I would have gotten a SUV instead. I bought a 2007 Hyundai Elantra for about $17000 dollars. I do like the Hyundai cars and think that they are worth the money. This is our second Hyundai Elantra and they have both been good to me. My husband and I wanted to get a second car for the family and test drove the Chevy Aveo. This little car was the funnest little car to drive, plus it was less then $10,000 dollars brand new. You will not have air conditioning with the lower price model, or cruise control with this model.
