Im interested in trading in my car for a new pickup truck. How can I go about finding the best deal possible?
I have a 00 Nissan Sentra and would like a brand new truck. Im sick of used cars. I can afford payments up to $300. I live outside Chicago...but is it true that the farther away from the city you live the cheaper the car? Help needed please!! Thanks!

- One piece of advice. Do not tell them you are trading in a car, until they give you a price on the new one. They always try to 'short' you on the trade in, or jack up the price on the new one.
- look up the kelly blue book price for your car and go to a dealer and try to get that price. Sometimes it's worth your time to sell the car outright to get a better asking price.
- I would say that dealers out in the 'burbs would probably price their vehicles HIGHER, as they get less traffic than a dealer on a busy blvd in the city. The best way is to go on line and ask dealers for a price quote, then pick the one that is best. Print out the quote and don't let them pull any tricks on you. I did that and got a good price on a Tundra http://www.carbuyingtips.com/ Read this site and learn the top ten dealer scams.
- You must go to consumerreports.com first, they have all the details, the dealers, the goods bads, deals and so on.
- Contrary to popular belief, you should tell the dealer you are trading in a car from the begining. The dealer has just as much interest in purchasing your car from you as you do from him. Buy from a dealership with a major brand label attached to it (i.e. Dodge, Jeep, etc.). The only reason why you wouldn't want to tell them you have a trade is if you have nothing better to do and want the car buying process to be extended longer than it has to be.
- I dont like wasting my time with a joker, but your question shows you have another side. lol If your buying new where you live dont come into play, the price, and you know what your doing is being on a level playing field with the dealer, there are steps buying a vehicle getting your bucks worth. From reading you question, this would be my steps. go to this website http://www.usedcartips.org/ click on the Edmomd's banner, get several quotes on the truck you want with all the options you have in mind, its free without you having to go to a dealership, with your quotes you can now enter a dealership knowing the best price is in your back pocket, dealers compete online...and the prices will be the best... I know you got a trade, leave that out while getting your best price without... Should you have followed my directions getting quotes, and your ready for the next step about your trade, email me address located in website ...good luck
- just tell them you want to pay 500 over dealers invoice
