What is the best way to buy a new car? Tell Me How You Do it :)!?

I planning to buy a new car in 2 weeks. I want you to please share with me what you remember and tell me what was the first thing you did in order to find a new car, and how you ended up buying the new car. Did you buy the car based on price or because you were getting a good deal?

  1. i found a car i liked, figured out what kind of payment i could afford, and took my dad with me in case i needed a co-signer and/or a negotiator...turned out i didn't need a cosigner but my dad knew some questions to ask that i didn't know...had a trade-in...no other car would do but that one... :o)
  2. I remember that the car lost 30% of it`s value right when I drove off the lot, and then it lost 60% of its value after 3 years, so then I owed more than it was worth! My brother-in-law bought an $8000 car, which was newer, but the warranty was already gone, so when the engine died, he had to replace the engine himself. I ended up buying a $2000 car that has lasted me a long long time (same as an $8000 car, and I have NO car payments, and NO "full coverage" insurance. 0h and it gets 30mpg in town, 40 on the highway, FREE roadside FOREVER! No computers!! no $300 "check engine light" this is what I got. http://reviews.ebay.com/1980s-Mercedes-Diesels-647-500-Miles-amp-Going-amp-Going_W0QQugidZ10000000003602287?ssPageName=BUYGD:CAT:-1:LISTINGS:3
  3. I guess you should first of all consider fuel efficiency and check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://carinsurance.enacre.net Usually people pay more for insurance and gas than for car itself.
