Why are car models a year in advance?
For instance, the new 2009's are available now. Why is this?

- to stay ahead of competition. Its just marketing.
- Most new year models are built in around after shutdown, June 30 - july 10, when plants close for summer approx, 2 weeks and change tool dies and make repairs to machines, at this time it is when new models are introduced to the plant and the tooling for this car is brought in. By the time the final assembly is done it can take up till aug to print the proper paper for the car, registration w/the state etc. Any car produced after july 31st I belive is titled as next years model. As far as a 09 being available now? I haven't heard unless you have to wait on a list for it. Hope this helped
- I always wondered the same thing. I think they try to put their cars into production at different times from their competitors so they can sell more.
