Is there a significant price drop for Car model change from 2008 to 2009?

I am thinking of purchasing the Acura 08' TSX. However, there is going to be a completely new redesign for the TSX coming out during this summer for the 09' TSX. I was planning to purchase the car during this coming November after the 09' model has already entered the market. I was wondering if there would be a significant price drop for the remaining 08' TSX because they want to get rid of them and how much could I possibly save?

  1. hard to predict how much of a decrease and savings. Bear in mind that, while youwill save money, the car will also be worth much less. The advantage of the end-of-year clearing is that you get a brand new car at a savings. However, that savings is almost immediately countered by the big drop in the value of the car. In your eyes, you have a car that is 1 week old. But since the 09s are out, in terms of book-value, you have a vcar that is one year old. You have an 08 and we are in the 09 model year. Add to that the body style change. Whenever that happens, the 'old style' takes another hit. So, buy smart. Work the deal as hard as you can to get teh best possible price. go below invoice, minus rebates and incentives. cheers and good luck
  2. Generally yes, especially if a completely redesigned model is introduced. By November, it would probably be hard to find any 2008 models since dealers will want to sell them off ASAP. I found that August, September and early October is when it is a good time to find great deals on outgoing models. Good luck
  3. It probably will, but I'm not really sure how much you can save. They'll drop in price because dealers will need to make room for 2009 model models. Not only will they drop in price, but the MSRP will be different. http://www.leftlanenews.com/acura-tsx.html "Acura's second generation TSX not only gained a few inches here and there, but also $770 to its bottom line for the 2009 model year. That price applies to the base models compared to last year, as the 2009 TSX now costs $29,675 with the $715 shipping charge. The TSX with technology package adds a navigation unit, dual-zone climate control system and upgraded audio system with XM Satellite Radio and stickers for $32,775 including shipping, reflecting a $1,770 price hike. Either model can be had with the standard six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission as a no-cost option and can be found in dealer showrooms starting April 24."
  4. Since the major change is between '08 and '09, you can save about $1300-$1500 per year of ownership by buying a used '05 compared to a new '08. This assumes you would keep each vehicle for 3 years. For a shorter ownership period, you will save more per year with the used vehicle.
