Oldsmobile Aurora..Did I get Taken by the dealership,My car is a lemon, and they new it my warenty is uphelp??
In December I paid cash $6,000 out the door from a dealership,, My husband and I were just window shopping for cars..when we told the salesman what we had in Mind..and talked us into a 96 fully loaded, mint condition, 67,000 miles what a deal,..It has a V8 we new it would eat up the gas, The information sheet detailing the the cars feature said it gets 24 city,29 Hgwy...WRONG!!! 17cty and thats without stops, in Florida everylightis a waiting game....Withen the 30 day warrenty given ,The Engine warning light sai 'LOw Coolant" When we brought it back, we expalined the salesman told us that It was fully serviced befor it was put up for sale..Anyways it was serviced and we told us they tested it and it should be fine...3 weeks later the low coolant light is back on, dosnt start, odor of gas..Shouldntthey still be liable since I brought it in for the same problem when it was under warrenty, and they said it all fixed...What are my rights. Is it a major problem I was lied to,

- on the 29th day you should parked it there wanting your money back or another car.I would think to go to another mechanic now.The car is yours now no matter what?Do your homework on each car when you buy it,being lied to isnt a good defence or a crime. You have a 1 year warranty, use it
- They should have still fixed the problem, you need to put your foot down with them and let them know whats what.
- you do have rights, there is a law called the lemon law.If they don't help you out in this matter put a complaint in the better business bureu.
- I don't know much about Fla lemon law but in Ky you have only 3 days to return the lemon even if you have a warranty. Take it back since the car was still under warranty and have the same problem looked at again. It sounds as if you have a slow leak in one of your hoses or at a joint. As for the smell of gas it could be the gas pump or if you smell it when you start the car you could be pumping the gas pedal too many times and flooding the car. If you want better gas mileage you can try getting an oil change, change your spark plugs, clean your air filter or just get a new one have your timing checked also. Check that your air intake on your carberator is clean. Use higher octane gas make sure your tires are inflated at the correct pressure as improperly inflated tires use more gas. You may have to go to a private person to get an estimate or do these checks. If they find something wrong then you can tell the dealership exactly what is wrong and what you want fixed. If it is still under warranty then they should fix it. If it is and they do not fix it then you can take them to court, though it doesn't always help. A 12 year old car with only 67 000 miles is kind of weird. Unless it was owned by a really old person who only went to the store the odometer was disconnected or set back at some point. Also most cars in the states do not get that high a mileage about 20 city is all you can ask. Highway(without stops is different and may be closer to 25 or 30)
