Is a car with 2800 miles considered to be a new car?

I saw a similar question being asked about a car with a few hundred miles. This however is a different story. I am looking at a 2006 Mercury Milan with 2800 miles. The dillership owner has been driving it for awhile, but it still quallifies for 2006 Ford special financing (0% for 72 months) that only new 2006 cars are elligible for. Can depreciation on this car lower the asking price by a couple of thousands, because this is a used car now? Thank you guys!

  1. Not to me. I would consider it used.
  2. nope, once it's driven off the lot, it's used, get a discount
  3. its new
  4. Unless you can find a sap who thinks it's still new you lose $$ as soon as it goes off the lot.
  5. No. That is considered "used" or "pre-owned".
  6. that's still under the 36k mi warranty, so I consider it to be fairly new. Consider a private party rather than a dealer, could save you thousands.
  7. It's a demo car and you will have all the perks of a new car.... 72 mos lease is crazy...Fords are only good for 3 years
  8. No most new cars only have maybe a 100 miles from test drives.
  9. 2800 miles is pretty damn new/. and you should beable to get a lower price because it was previously owned
  10. used.
  11. my understanding is if it has less than 500 miles it is new.
  12. Yes the price should be lower than the same car brand new because it has been driven for a few thousand miles. Depending on how hard it was driven it may/may not be as good as brand new.
  13. usually over 500 miles is considered used. It depends upon the delaer but yeah most take a discount for the miles to sell it as most dealer personell will drive a loaded vehicle then sell it for say a lower optioned car is worth due to the miles.. but qualifies for new Ford financing as it's never been titled... and that's 0% for 72 months for ownership... haven't seen any leases over about 4 years as depretiation would eat up the resell value after that
  14. It is considered a "dealer demo" which means it has not been titled & is therefore considered a NEW vehicle. The fact that it has 2800 miles on it only means that the dealer should be able to discount it more than one that has not been driven as a demo. You better decide quickly. Ford Motor Credit is only offering the 0% X 72 month financing on remaining 2006 models through Labor Day. Most Ford & Mercury dealers are just about out of cars as of now, & even the demo's are mostly gone.
  15. It is considered a new car if it has not been titled. Once it has been titled, it is considered used. This was probably a dealership demonstrator vehicle, and therefore untitled (seeing that it qualifies for all current incentives)so I would negotiate for a $2000-$3000 discount, minimum.
  16. the vehicle is considered a new car if has not been titled the mfg warranty starts at 0 miles, the time starts when the vehicle was put into service as a demo whic could be as much as a year typically you can buy a brand new car for what some pay for demos hope this helps
  17. it's not really a used car until it's been titled or has over 10000 miles on whichever comes first. The nice thing about demos is you get some kind of discount. the mercury milan is a hot car it's sister to the ford fusion. awesome ride and actually very hard to get right now. but i'm actually too late the 0% for 72 went away monday
