- Your city/municipality probably has some type of ordinace against advertising like that.
- was the ticket for an unregistered vehicle? Call the agency that issued the ticket and ask.
- Most cities will give you a ticket for putting for sale signs on a car parked on a street. Doesn't matter if the car was "outside your house". Its illegal. Don't even bother trying to protest it. You will NOT win. Pay it and chalk it up to a very expensive lesson learned.
- There's a city or county law banning roadside car sales. BUT....... there have been court decisions declaring such bans to be an unconstitutional violation of your free speech rights. Here.... http://www.ca6.uscourts.gov/opinions.pdf/07a0248p-06.pdf is the opinion of the US Federal 6th Circuit Court in "Pagan v Fruchey" holding that the ban on "For Sale" signs in cars in Glendale, Ohio, is unconstitutional and illegal. Where are you? If you are within the 6th's area, this is binding law. To "fro".... read the decision. Chris Pagan not only fought it - all the way to Federal Circuit Court - he won. Richard
- I don't see why you did either. I have a neighbor that has sold more than one that way. Might depend on the area.
- This IS Amaerica, ALL RIGHTS are YOURS except those granted to the GOVT in the Constitution.
- I think it does depend on your city. My city won't let me do that- I found the easiest way for me to sale my car was to post it on a free classified ads website called www.stumblehere.com. The direct link to stumblehere's car section is http://stumblehere.com/search/subject-for+sale/search_where-city/section-44/.
