Tricky car sale..not sure how to put it out in words in a bill of sale?

I'll be purchasing a car, and I'll be paying $9,000 cash, plus I'll be giving them my car as well. This is a private sale, no dealership involved. How would I word this in a bill of sale so that both parties don't have trouble at the DMV transferring titles and such. Or is a bill of sale even needed?

  1. Your best bet is to do one of two things. either word it like this: (seller) hereby transfers ownershp of (carA) (VIN) to (buyer) in exchange for $9000 cash and (vehicle B) (VIN) considering (Vehicle B) has a value of $XXX OR Do a bill of sale for his car, showing you paid $9500, and a bill of sale for your car, showing he paid you $500. Net Net its the same, and much cleaner. Make sure tha thte bills of sale include statements that vehciles are free of any liens, and are sold as is, where is with no warranties or guarantees expressed or implied.
  2.
