Garage sale unsuccessful?

I had a garage sale today and no one came. I put up signs a couple days before the sale on main streets where a lot of cars drive by. How can I advertise better? I don't want to put it in the paper because I'll have to pay for that. I want free advertisement. Are there any places in Bradenton,FL that advertise for free? I got kicked out by the manager by handing out fliers like this so I don't think putting it on stores would help. Where can I find and submit free paper ads?

5. people right now are more worried about money with it being thanksgiving and all just probably wait till next weekend
6. not sure about florida.. but i have my local television site's free classifieds and it worked wonders when i wanted to unload stuff.. and people always check out that kind of stuff on-line.. it's so easy to go click on one site, and see the news weather and classifieds in one swoop.. good luck... also, do they have pennysavers or like, free paper classifieds?

8. On a Wednesday? Retry for 7:00a Saturday on a non-holiday weekend.
