How do I get cigarette smell out of a new car?

I loaned my brand new car to a friend for an emergency. She didn't smoke in the car, but she smoked, then got in the car, so it still smells. How can I get it to smell like a new car again?

Fabreeze, if its just smell from her clothes it shouldnt be hard to get out, just fabreeze the seat.

This might be a long shot, but I've heard that charcoal briquets absorb odors. Try putting a few in a stocking and putting it somewhere in your car. That's the only thing I can think of that might help.
you could try those arm and hammer things for your fridge, theira little sack of soda powder that suck up smell, and have the little pink bar on it. they work in to fridge, so why not the car?
Go to your local car dealership. They have what's called 'De-Ionizers.' They are basically smoke bombs they put in your car to eliminate the cigarette odor. They use it in trade in vehicles for resale.. Hope that helps!
Throw the smoker out while the car is moving....ohhh they are already out. What I would do is tell the smoker that they get to pay for a real good detailing of the interior of your car to get the smell out. Good luck.
Do the fabreeze I rented a car that stunk in the hot Georgia sun, went by Wally world and got some fabreeze and made it smell wonderful.....two days later. I soaked it when I got out. your issue shouldn't be as bad...
you can use a lot of fe-breeze in it,and it will get rid of it,airing it out will also help it a lot also,but fr-breeze works really well on removing smoke smells from anything,good luck with it hope this helps.

The best and cheapest thing to use to absorb smells out of a car is "Bounce" or other brand dryer sheets. Put three or four under each side of the front seat and leave them there for a few days. The odor will be gone.
I've had this issue myself and Febreeze doesn't work. This is because the organic compounds in the cigarette smoke are very powerful. There are two solutions, I've used both on my car as it smelled like an ashtray when I bought it. The first is called Fire D and usually sold through apartment maintenance supply houses and sells for about $10 a can. The second is a lot more economical. Dryer sheets placed under the seats will also take care of the odor and are a lot cheaper than many other methods. This is what I used to take the stink out of my car. You need about two or three sheets for the interior and another two for the trunk if your car has one. Hope this helps.
WalMart has a product that is designed to eliminate odors from smok, it is sold near the cigarettes. Don't quote me on this but I believe the name is Lord Byron's Smoke Away. I used it a few times doing car detailing, work wonders. and is not like febreexe that only lasts about a week two tops
Someone else mentioned charcoal - I found the perfect product that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT carbon odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great. The carbon literally absorbs and eliminates the odors and works for a long time. It works so much better than all those sprays and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels that say keep away from fabric, etc. and just don't eliminate odors. Just put a couple of these in your car and trunk. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Someone else even said available in England. Definitely worth trying
