How to check of the new installed engine on car actually exist?

I am planning on buying a car and the seller tells me that the car has a new engine installed which has 50,000km on it. How do I know if he is lying or not? The odometer in the car reads more than 250,000km Help I got this car from a private sale and he said he has no receipts, but said I could ask his mechanic....

1. As to see the engine installation papers, it will show the cost and the mileage of the engine and the warranty. Good Luck and GOD Bless
2. Ask him for receipts for the engine and work. If he can't produce them, turn around and walk away.
3. well the price for the new engine they should have the paper work for it all,,car sellin and horse tradin go hand in hand ,,prove it!

5. CARFAX , AND MAKE THE DEALER PROVE IT , MOST DEALERS ARE MEMBERS ON CARFAX AND HAVE UNLIMITED USE OF IT , THEY CAN PRINT YOU OFF A COPY
6. TRUE, IF A NEW ENGINE WAS INDEED INSTALLED THEN BY ALL MEANS THE OWNER WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE A RECEIPT. SOMETHING STINKS WITH THIS CAR, "RUN AWAY AND DON'T LQQK BACK".
7. A new engine costs thousands of dollars. To not have a receipt is rediculous especially if he's trying to sell a 250K mile car. He might be friends with the mechanic. I'd pick another car to buy.....there are many out there, trust me.
