How to check of the new installed engine on car actually exist?
I am planning on buying a car and the seller tells me that the car has a new engine installed which has 50,000km on it. How do I know if he is lying or not? The odometer in the car reads more than 250,000km Help I got this car from a private sale and he said he has no receipts, but said I could ask his mechanic....

- As to see the engine installation papers, it will show the cost and the mileage of the engine and the warranty. Good Luck and GOD Bless
- Ask him for receipts for the engine and work. If he can't produce them, turn around and walk away.
- well the price for the new engine they should have the paper work for it all,,car sellin and horse tradin go hand in hand ,,prove it!
- Ask him to proovide receipts for the work.
- CARFAX , AND MAKE THE DEALER PROVE IT , MOST DEALERS ARE MEMBERS ON CARFAX AND HAVE UNLIMITED USE OF IT , THEY CAN PRINT YOU OFF A COPY
- TRUE, IF A NEW ENGINE WAS INDEED INSTALLED THEN BY ALL MEANS THE OWNER WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE A RECEIPT. SOMETHING STINKS WITH THIS CAR, "RUN AWAY AND DON'T LQQK BACK".
- A new engine costs thousands of dollars. To not have a receipt is rediculous especially if he's trying to sell a 250K mile car. He might be friends with the mechanic. I'd pick another car to buy.....there are many out there, trust me.
