classic car show wedding?

My future husband and I are both into classic cars. We want to have a 50's or "rockabilly" theme wedding. We came up with this idea to host a car show and get married around all the gorgeous cars. The date is not set but it will be sometime in the next year or two. Has anybody ever heard of something like this? Anybody believe it is possible? Any tips on how to get started? Anything would be greatly welcomed.

  1. if you are not in classic car club like the one jaguar runs, join one. they will be willing and very able to help you. Best of luck in the furture.
  2. I've never heard about this specifically, but I've heard of things that were even odder. But original is good. I'm sure it is possible. I would try looking into car clubs around your area to see if they would be intersted in showing cars on your specific date. And of course you would need to find a place...maybe a park with a pavillion? That way the cars are right by a place for the party. Have fun!
  3. They do a Rockabilly Weekend every year at the Gold Coast Casino in Las Vegas, with major amounts of classic cars and great bands. There are always a few weddings involved. I would suggest contacting related vendors for information.
  4. That sounds like such a great idea! My dad's a total gearhead, and he and my mom go to (and participate in) antique car shows all the time (he's got a couple of classic cars and two pickup trucks from the 50s). They go to all different shows all the time, and it seems that it's the same group of people each time; the classic car people are a very tight-knit community from what I've seen. I think that this is a fantastic idea, and I'd love to witness something like your wedding sometime. I think that this sounds like a ton of fun, and it's totally possible. The next time you go to a car show, ask the organizers how they put it together. Find out if they need permits, or any other type of authorization from the town. Perhaps you could do this in the parking lot of a park, and then have tents set up and have your reception there. I'll bet you know a band who would love to get all decked out in 1950s garb and rock out to Elvis in front of a pink Caddy. Maybe you could even have Elvis walk you down the isle! I can't believe how cool of an idea you have; when you have your wedding, be sure to take plenty of pictures and submit them to a car magazine! Good luck!
