Overhaulin'

I have a 1971 Chevy Impala 2 door Convertible in great condition. What can I do to increase its resell value?

I was thinking about updating the 350 engine with new 4 barrel edelbrock chrome intake and edelbrock performer carb, electronic ignition system, but I still want to keep things original. What else can I do to increase the value? What to classic car collectors look for.

  1. Leave it as original as possible. allot of "upgrades" actually brings the value down.
  2. You can make the changes you mention, but make sure to keep the original parts. The changes will not increase the value.
  3. alll original and matching numbers right down to the smallest detail
  4. the car that you are talking about is very rare car because just about all the Impalas i see are 4 door cars so the best thing to do is get the upgrades that you are talking about and get a emission test as soon as possible!
  5. Classic car collectors look for original equipment. Chrome accessories and after market parts really lowers the value of classic cars. Collectors also look for un-restored, not rebuilt cars. Or cars that have been professionally restored back to showroom condition. The more original parts left on the car the more valuable the car will be. Keep it all GM if you want the car to keep/increase it's value.
  6. Polish all the chrome. Maybe repaint any black trim paint. The details will sell the car.
  7. Very simple............just leave it alone. They look for the original parts no matter what condition they are in.
