classic car restoration and getting 2 door into 4 door?

Can/would professional classic car restorers make my 2 door 1964 chevy impala into a 4 door? It's hard to find 4 door '64's these days!

  1. Oh my gosh!!! As a fellow car collector: Please leave your 2 door Impala alone (but it can be done--check out Hemmings Motor News)
  2. You can do what ever you can afford to do. FABRICATING has come a long way. Keep in mind these few things... 1. ) An original restoration MAY (and usually will) be worth more than a customized unit 2.) 2-door = Coup 4-door= Sedan 3.) What is the "goal" of this project?? 4.) You may be able to afford it and it may look cool when you are finished "BUT" if you decide to get rid of it - can you? What will it be worth?
  3. Impalas are rare, 4-doors even more so. Sell it to someone who would be willing to do a restoration on it. My recommendation would be to find either a Bel-air or a Biscayne 4-door, as they were more plentiful in that body style. Then you can get all the applicable Impala-only parts like the triple taillights and other trim pieces that were only offered on the Impala from a parts supplier like Classic Industries.
  4. Son , let me tell ya what!!! Come to either Cincinnati or ride through Indiana and there are more 4 dr Impalas than you can shake a stick at and the people who own them are more than willing to trade ya. Heck.I am interested in your 2 dr cause I have an all original 409 with Air /auto / pwr wdws / pwr lks / and the SS pkg and am in need of a 2 dr frame. 4dr Impalas / Belairs are a dime a dozen here in the midwest
