Another First car question. (police auctions)?

So, I'm looking into buying a car. well, okay, my dad is looking into buying a car for me, not gonna lie. I'm kinda spoiled, but that's not important. So, I read this question below, about police auctions. And well, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on finding these auctions, and what to watch for , and what to watch out for. Any advice is much appreciated!

1. I have been to them, they can be good, however, you often have to watch because you can get the crap sitting along side of the road and stolen vehicles( this isn't all to bad as long as the outside isn't damaged, all you will have to fix is the damage of the theft)
