- A good place a friend of mine goes is the U.S. Marshalls web site. It contains a list of seized cars up for bid.
- Generally, most large cities have a specific department that holds auctions for seized property (including cars). For example, I'm in Houston, and the Houston department is here: http://www.houstontx.gov/finance/pdmo.html. Search your local municipality's website for the word "auction" and it will probably give you the information for the local auctions. Auctions are open to the public. Some auction items (not cars, obviously) require you to buy the entire lot.
- There are Federal and local government auctions happening alll the time around the country. The U.S. Government has a site that lists their departmental auctions but you'll have to look for local auctions announced in the local newspaper. If you have multiple local newspapers, the auctions are usually listed only in one. You'll have to find out which one. Here's an article with more details: http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/carauctions.htm .
