okay so i see buying car parts online is much cheaper, before i make the purchase just have a small question. Will any auto shop put them on for me or will they only use their own parts? im sure they are going to charge me for the labor

  1. You will likely be able to find a shop that is willing to install them, but many shops have a higher labor rate for customer supplied parts, and if you have an issue with the parts, they'll say it was due to faulty install, or even if they do replace the part, you'll be stuck paying installation fees again. Better off to find a shop that you can trust and stands behind their work.
  2. most shops will do it for a flat per hour rate.shop around...private shop is usually 30 to 60 dollars per hr and dealers are 75 to 125 an hour.you usually get NO warranty/guarantee.
  3. yes they will charge you for labor.. and the parts are not necisarry cheaper on line.. the garage what ever they pay they just double or triple it to make a profit.. i dont know what you bought but why not put it on yourself.. its not hard. ok.
  4. Bringing your own parts to your mechanic and asking him to put them on it like taking your own food to the restaurant and asking them to cook it up for you. Some will do it, but I can guarantee they won't like it. And if the part fails, since they didn't supply it they won't stand behind it.
  5. That's sort of like bringing your own bacon and eggs to a restaurant and asking them to cook it for you.Yes,some shops will do it but there will be unforeseen consequences.
  6. I have a friend that owns a garage, and a customer of his that owns a restaurant brings his own parts from a local part store, and wants him to install them just for labor. after doing this a few times my friend that owns the garage went to Wal-mart and bought some hamburger meat and went to his customers restaurant and handed him the meat and ask him if he would just charge him to cook the meat for him. My point is, Most garages will charge you more for labor to make up the cost of the lost profit on the part, and you'll have no warranty . If you can't install it yourself, then I'd just pay an extra 20% for the part and let the garage handle it.
