Where is the best place online to buy a personalised car registration plate?

It's for my boyfriend's birthday present. Obviously I want somewhere that is legitimate and corresponds with the law and also somewhere that produces quality plates, rather than these cheap looking ones you see. Any help very much appreciated. Thanks I should also say that's it's for the UK, sorry to have forgotten to mention that previously.

2. They are only available through your state DMV.
3. If you are looking to get a personalized LICENSE plate then you must go to your states DMV. Some states do that online but you would have to get him to do it since the car is probably in his name. There is usually a yearly fee in addition to the normal plate fees.
4. The only legal authorized place to buy license plates is through the DMV (or it's local equivalent).
