What kind of car could I buy in cash with $1,000? As a first car?

I am going to work this summer, min. wage... what kind of car could I get with 1000 dollars? anything that would be good for a first car, safety too. thank you.

5. Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Toyota pickup. Honestly though... you're not gonna get much of a car for $1000. You'll have to take your time and look hard.
6. You can have one or the other. Either you can have a safe, reliable used car, or you can have a $1000 used car. Be careful, and buy the best you can for $1000, or better yet, try to save a bit more, and upgrade yourself.
