When I go buy a car do I have to have "cash" for my down?
I want to put around 2000 dollars down for my car but do I have go get cash or can I write a check or use my debit? Also, do they take credit cards or no?

- They'll take cash, of course. Most dealers will also take a personal check -- I wouldn't deal with one that wouldn't. And most will also take a debit or credit card as well. I bought a car with a credit card a number of years ago. They just went to the Service Department cashier and ran it through. I've got one credit card with more than enough available credit on it to buy most new cars and I doubt that a dealer would balk at accepting it if it meant losing the sale.
- use ur debit is the best and safest way if theirs a problem with the deal its the easiest to cancel
- Bostonian is correct, most dealers won't balk at great credit, but if you're like most of us with less that perfect credit, then its best with cash, but also on that point, most dealers will also take credit/debit cards just like cash or you can also pay a little extra monthly and just finance the entire thing. If you have the cash, don't flaunt it, make the dealer work to get it out of your hands, you're the one who work your butt off to get it!!! And make sure the car you get is the one that you're happiest getting!!!
- You can write a cheque and the moment you leave the salesman will be on his way to your bank to what we call hammer that cheque. The dealership will prefer cash - credit cards or depit. now in your case being smart $ 500. down and $ 1500. on delivery is the right way. Your question seems so green I am concerned if you really know how to buy a car.go to my website http://www.usedcartips.org/ and study the 10 steps...Its free
