how do I buy a car with cash without being reported?
Public Comments
- Privately
- You can't. Even if you buy it from an individual, you will have to pay tax on it when you transfer the title. Any transaction for over $10,000 cash would have to be reported to the FBI by most businesses.
- Reported to who? once upon a time this was the only way to buy anything
- Reported to who? For what? If you want to pay cash for a car - the dealer or private seller will be thrilled to get those greenbacks. I don't think there will be any reporting going on.
- reported to who for what?
- Through an individual seller or not at all. That's not a guarantee either though because when the seller deposits money in the bank if it's over a certain amount it will get flagged for possible money laundering and then they can secretly initiate what's called an SAR or suspicious Activity Report as part of the patriot act. I work in a bank so I know a bit about these things.
- Look for a private seller. If you buy it through a dealership, they will report you under suspicion. And you don't want that to happen do you? If you can prove that you have those funds, then you should be okay. And if you know it's not "dirty"/illegal money, then you should have nothing to worry about.
- Im going to retrieve my previous answer because there is a better way to do it. Just put a good down payment like 3000 on it then just pay it off like a thousand or two at a time. You will have to pay intrest on it and all that but from the way you make it sound this money is some kind of illegal money and I think I would rather pay a little intrest then be reported. Plus you will pay the loan term off earlier then its set for so you wont have to pay the full intrest amount.
- Buy through a private owner, not a dealership. Look through the newspapers in several towns. If you make a cash offer, make sure they just give you the car without making you do paperwork or anything. Just don't sign anything. Private owner, give them a fake name if you have to, and make sure they will let you drive off with no strings attached.
- reported to whom? why? a dealership would far prefer a cashier's check to actual cash. so would most individuals. (AFTER their bank has approved the check) other than that, just buy a beater, transfer the title, get a new tag, some insurance, and roll along.
- FROM AN INDIVIDUAL THERE SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM. FROM THE DEALER THIS COULD SEND UP A RED FLAG WITH THE IRS. I SEE WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO, BUT IT IS A 50/50 CHANCE THAT SOMEONE WILL BE RINGING YOUR DOORBELL. GOOD LUCK
