Wanted to buy but was told I could only lease.?

I was quoted a price by phone then the price breakdown was sent by email. I was pre-qualified through Toyota. The salesman checked it out and verifying I was approved for the car. I went to buy the car. When I got there I was told again I qualified. He went through a lease vs buy discussion whereas he told me he was required to by Toyota After that I still wanted to buy. He comes back & tells me he misfigured and that I fell $50 a month short. Like a dumb "A" I went with the lease. But on the papers was being charged $2000 more than what he quoted. I was told the DVD/Nav was the difference. I told them that was included in the original quote. Heres the catch, the dvd/Nav isn't installed in the car. They told me they would install later in the week AFTER THEY ORDER IT!! I figured out on paper the DVD/nav they were suppodly throwing in and now charging me for was the very thing that put me over! Is there any recourse for me? Any Suggestions? Its been less than 24 hrs and I am sick! I pretty much figured I was sunk here. They kept me there 2 hours after closing. Man I knew better but I didnt catch it in time. The email with the price quote would not help with this matter? If I contacted Toyota explaining the situation if that would help. I cant believe I let them tell me I didnt qulify. After all, how did I qualify for the Lease but not the loan to buy? Dang I feel really stupid right now. I pretty much figured I was sunk here. 1. How longs it been since you bought it. You always have 3 days to change your mind on any major purchases. Never let a slick salesman double talk you. You can always walk out of the dealership, trust me if they want to make a sale they'll find a way to make it happen.
  2. This is the typical dealer scam. The only thing you can do at this point is either tell them you don't want the dvd/nav anymore and have them subtract that extra 2k. Or...if you still want it installed, have them put in writing that they will install it for you and have them sign it. Unfortunately, if you signed the bottom line on the lease, there's not much you can do about it.
  3. THIS IS CALLED BAIT AND SWITCH. Depending on what state you are in there might be a three day law. This would specific that by law you have three days to return a car from the date of purchase. If one was to return the car now, you would get resale value for it and car prices go down tremendously after having been driven off the lot. It will probably be better if he can find a private seller for it. However in most states you do not even have one day, unless you are doing the 24-hour test drive program.
  4. As a 20 year veteran of the Car Business, and a Toyota Sales Person for the last 5 years. I appologize for the way you were treated. If you went ahead with the deal and signed the papers and took delivery, at least in my state you are an "owner" ie you have no recourse unless you can prove fraud...i understand some states do have a 3 day cooling off period. You might look into that...there is a very common misunderstanding of the so called "green river law" that applies to door to door sales, which do have a "cooling of" period.... Again i am surprised that a Toyota Dealer would give you the run around like it sounds like you got. a lot of people turn to the internet thinking that it will be "easier" but in general their is more lying and scamming done in internet departments than in person. Especially if you are contacting a dealer a ways away form you...
  5. Walk in mad as hell, demand to speak with man who's name is on the sign out front. The owner and General Manager will make this right. The salesman screwed you. Forced you into accessories that you didn't order and don't want. If they don't, refuse the deal and demand that they recind the deal.
  6. If you have taken delivery of the vehicle there isn't much that can be done. If you haven't you may have a chance of getting out of the deal. Either way, I would contact the Attorney General of your state and explain what happened. You may not get any satisfaction but it may help others who go there to buy. A note to FOREVER, there is NO 3 day return policy.
  7. *********THERE ARE NO 3 DAY RETURN LAWS ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!********************* The only state with any kind of return policy is California. But this is only available on USED cars costing under $50k. And you must PURCHASE this policy for extra and it's only for 48 hours. As for your lease.... you were snookered and there's not much you can do. Leasing requires HIGHER credit score than financing so the sales scum was lying to you. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. You can try talking to the manager but he's not obligated to fix it because you signed the contract and you are at their mercy.
  8. Since nobody seems to get it, i will reiterate what shaq said: NO COOLING OFF PERIOD. PERIOD..... Back to the deal: What may have happened is that when you asked for a quoted he quoted you a lease to make sure you went to him thinking he has the lowest price. Who knows, could have been anything. Cancel the DVD, get one from best buy for half the price, and have them refund the money or write up a new contract, since it wasn't installed yet, you are not obligated to buy it.
