- Look in auto trader mag. Lots for sale without VAT
- Where? In what country? VAT laws vary by country.
- If your wife is disabled u can get a mobilty car which will b insured.
- If you buy privately and not from a dealer they wont charge you VAT. Shop around for insurance there will be specialist ones out there. I drive a Fiat Ducato that I converted as a camper but hit the same problems as on paper its a commercial vehicle. Its also worth pointing out that anything that is not a "car derived van" has different speed limits now. I got 3 points and an £80 fine for doing 60mph on an A road as the speed limit in anything that is, or was a van, is 50mph you might want to re look at people carrier - car derived vehicles. Just a thought, best of luck :)
- Why a transit van and not a normal vehicle with disability add-ons? You can have chair lifts, ramps, tilt chairs and all kinds of disability aids put on cars like a Blazer. If you call a conversion shop they often have vehicles already set up and for sale. They can also advise you on which brands will work or not work for your wife's special needs should you already own a car or van. EDIT TO STARGLO: Check out the Bruno wheelchair lifts for cars. I have one and they sure make a difference. You can also get portable lifts to use in the house to lift a person out of a bed or chair. Check out Hoyer lifts.
- my dad has too lift my mom and put her in our van.. then lift her wheelchair and put it in the back of the van.. he had a heart valve replacement about 2 years ago.. and a stroke recently about 11 months ago.. and he still lifts her all the time he was lifting her like 2 weeks after his stroke and i worry about him all the time ......
