Can you use a aftermarket car audio or you have buy it from dealer?

I want to replace the audio system in my car. Is it OK to buy one from Best Buy or I have to buy and install it in the dealer?

  1. I got 2 12s and an amp offline. Got all the wiring and stuff from american and wal mart and hooked it up with my brother... You don't need to bring it to the dealer for it, I doubt they would know what they're doing anyway. If you don't feel like doing it yourself, bring it to some car audio / electronics place... though they'll probably charge a lot.
  2. no way dude if anything you shood nevger go to a dealer for car audio unless you need to get a code for your stereo or if your warranty still works use it but other than that you can go to any audio shop and get a stereo there and installed or best buy, circut city, etc. you can even install it yourself just buy the wiring harness and dash kit if you need it good luck
  3. You DO NOT go to a dealer fora stereo upgrade.
  4. I always buy a stripped model and add the components myself. Dealers have a very large overhead. @ am/fm cd player with premium speakers. $499 at dealer plus installation. I bought a comparable one for $200 and installed myself. Same with fog lights, wheels, etc
  5. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO THE DEALER EVEN IF YOU WANT TO BUY AN ORIGIONAL AUDIO SYSTEM FOR YOUR CAR CAUSE YOU CAN FIND A USED ONE ONLINE, IN THE DEALER THE FOR AN AUDIO SYSTEM IS TOO HIGH. OR YOU CHOOSE AN AFTER MARKET THE AUDIO SYSTEM YOU CHOOSE AND INSTALL IT , IT IS VERY EASY
