What is the best way to do a private sale of my car if there is a lien on it?
I want to sell my car but there is a small lien (from a bank) on it that will be paid off with the proceeds from the sale of the car. The bank has the title paperwork. The car is currently registered in California but I have recently moved to Washington state. What is the best way to go about selling the car?

- You can sell it but you still need 2 pay the bank it's the only way 2 get the title it doesn't matter what state you are in it will show up at any DMV that there is a lien on it.Good Luck
- You can sell at anytime, send a cashier's or certified check to the lien holder who will relase the title at once. A bill of sale guaranteeing the clear title can be given to the buyer in the interum.
