What is the best hybrid car to buy?

What are my options? What is the list of hybrid vehicles available? is every vehicle going to have a hybrid available?

  1. Isn't the Toyota Prius a hybrod? If so that would be my choice :P
  2. I am assuming you want a hybrid for the gas mileage. Unfotunately depending on where you live and the kind of driving you do, a hybrid may not be what you want. A hybrid is not really as economical on the highway as a regular car that runs on Gasoline. With the extra cost of hybrid technology and the fact that dealers are not discounting those models alot of time it takes as long as 7-8 years to get your money out of them. At that time it is going to be time to replace the battery. At about $3000 dollars that puts your time at another 5 years to get the "savings" out of a hybrid model. The best reason for going to a hybrid is just straight green. That is the only reason I can see to purchse a hybrid.
  3. Your question doesn't have enough information with it to answer. Best based on what? Size? price, mileage? Here is a link to all of the known hybrids so you can evaluate them yourself. http://www.edmunds.com/finder/segment.hybrid.html;f=%2Busein%3Anew?cat=Hybrid&reFacet=MarketSegment%3AHybrid&p=cvehicledata%23%23-1%23%23-1%7E%7Ef56%7C%7C487962726964%7E%7Eq j
  4. Right now the best deal for a hybrid vehicle would be a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid 2WD (200hp, 32mpg)-- It qualifies for a $3000 Federal Tax Credit rebate, which makes it cost $500 less than the MSRP of a comparable V6 Hybrid 2WD (200hp, 25mpg). That means you don't have to drive the Escape Hybrid for years to recoup the extra cost of the hybrid system in gas savings-- Uncle Sam already did that for you with the tax credit. And you start saving gas money right away.
  5. I do not recommend the Prius. I would rather have the Honda Civic Hybrid. For SUV's, the Ford Escape Hybrid is by far the best.
  6. The best is the Prius because it gets the best gas mileage and makes the most financial sense anyway. Here's a review explaining it better: http://vlane.com/research/2008/Toyota/Prius
