If you buy a used Hybrid car, do you still get the tax break?

I was wondering if you buy a used hybrid vehicle if you get the same tax break at the end of the year?

  1. No. You get the tax break if you buy a new car from the manufacturer. In fact, the tax break is being phased out by manufacturer. As each manufacturer hits a certain threshold of the number of hybrids it has sold.....then the company's buyers will no longer be able to claim the credit. This may have already happened to Toyota and is getting close for Honda.
  2. The break is for first buyer only
  3. No, the federal tax incentive is only available to one buyer (the first). However, since the vehicle is pre-owned, you get to take advantage of the depreciation $$$$$ That depreciation savings should be much more than the actual savings that you would have received had you been able to take the federal incentive.. for more info on Hybrids, please go to: http://hybridcars.com/ All Hybrids are not equal, make sure you are looking at the right one for your needs.
