Are the Democrats about to force you to buy a hybrid or a car getting more than 20 mpg?
Note the Supreme Court's decision to back up the Clean Air Act today! Will this be the boon to our economy? Are you prepared to take a big loss on your big vehicle? Will these vehicles be banned in a Democratic Presidency? Or will they be heavily taxed?

- WHAAAAAAT?!?!?! You mean that whole thing was about MORE than just saving the environment?
- what is stupid is that we could completely go to clean-burning biofuels for our vehicals in under 5 years and do away with fossil fuel use almost entirely ... its about 10 tons of bullshit when they are talking about hybrids and gasoline burning cars ....
- It's about time! Haven't you listened to Bush this war is just a important as WWII. So like WWII everyone should have to make a sacrifice. At least the Democrats aren't telling Americans to go shopping , like our cowardly leader today.
- i try to bike when i can, no way am i buying a hybrid. who is going to help me with maintenance? i heard it cost a arm and leg
- Yeah, LOL, buy an overpriced piece of Chinese cra* that forces the building of coal plants that will use high sulfur coal cause the low sulfur stuff is being sent to China so they can build more overpriced pieces of cra* to sell to stupid Americans.
- Is business going to continue polluting the environment if they are not forced to clean up their act? Of course they are! But do they care about pollution. Of course they don't. So what about the freedom to breath clean air?
- 1st, there already is a gas tax for cars that get a lower mpg. 2nd, the gov't is trying to impose a user fee since cars are getting better mpg. Therefore, a gallon of gas is going to cost more for a fuel efficient car.
- As with any new regulation, there will be market winners and losers. I imagine there will be some kind of incentive to select an automobile that gets good gas mileage and perhaps an extra tax for heavy duty vehicles being used for personal reasons only. I think that probably makes sense. Mom doesn't need a Hummer to drive to the grocery store, but Joe the construction worker might actually need a heavy-duty pickup. It will certainly be interesting to see how this develops.
- Democrats? This was the Supreme Court.
- another 20 -30 yrs and the oil will all be gone, you'll have no choice. I have not heard of any plans for a mass conversion. It's generally figured that the infrastructure is such (gas stations on every corner) that any change is not possible. It must be phased out and alternatives introduced slowly. Another 10 -15 yrs and gas will be so rare only the wealthiest and likely the military will be able to get any. We have to begin now ourselves personally at finding alternatives. In the end it will be economically profitable for us to use other power sources. Cause it's either accept the alternatives or walk.
- Nah, let's keep gettin our kids shot and blown up so you can drive your hummer to the grocery store ....
- You won't be "forced" there will be incentives. Are you happy that driving a gas guzzler keeps us dependent of foriegn oil and negatively involved in the Middle East? The Supreme Court isn't "democrats" and it was Nixon who started the EPA.
- The Democrats aren't about to FORCE anything; this is still a democracy the last thing I heard. Bush is a moron, he probably doesn't even know what the clean air act IS. Your vehicle is not going to be banned! And I don't think you're going to be heavily taxed. Although I do hate Hummers- NO ONE needs one of those unless they live in the deep country- most people drive them because they're huge and they're just driving them to get a latte at Starbucks. All hail a Democratic president! Go Obama Go!
