I would feel better driving around a hybrid vehicle. Should I sell my current car so I can buy a hybrid?

But then I thought, how does that help the environment if someone else buys my old car and it is going to continue to be used and polluting environment?

  1. buying a hybrid is a great way help the enviroment but make sure you have at least 1000 dollars extra money more than how much your car is buying i made that mistake and it did not work well for about a month
  2. less people are wanting to buy none hybrid cars these days so if you trade it in the dealer might sell it but they may also send it in to be recycled. the thing is that eventually people will sell it and eventually it will be recycled. plus having a new car is nice and you will have more money do to better fuel economy.
  3. Well if you think about it, you're the second person out of 2 driving a gasoline car. If you trade in your car for a hybrid, it'll be one less! Go for it!
  4. No hybrid cars are a poor example of technologies that are available the air car soon to become available is far superior and u would be better to wait for it. the amount of resources used to build your inferior hybrid far out ways its value. think about minimal car use or if you even need a car, public transport or a push bike are far more environmentally friendly
  5. it would help a little because it means at least one less "traditional" car will be made. and somebody may just use it for scraps... i understand your thinking tho. check out this site... http://autos.msn.com/advice/article.aspx/contentid=4022630
  6. sell your car and buy a hybrid.even though your car will be used again, buying a hybrid will defenetly make you feel better.
  7. Yes, you should. Think about it this way. If everyone thought this way, there would be no hybrids on the road. Portecting the enviroment has to start some where and and the car someone else may use in the future will not necessarily pollute the enviroment that much. If everybody starts switching to hybrids, then the majority of the older cars will be enviromentally-friendly. If you buy a hybrid and want to sell it in the future, that person who buys it will be getting an enviromentally-friendly car. Eventually, all cars will be hybrid and it will be expected. Many states and the goverment are offering tax incentives if you buy a hybrid vehicle so this idea will catch on. Once it catches on, the cars in America will be much more enviromentally-friendly. By the way, I would reccomend a Toyota Prius since it is one of the most fuel efficient hybrids and since many have been sold, fixing it should be no problem. (By the way, usually Toyota's never have any problems). Go out a buy a hybrid!!!! It is the future and the future is now. The Hybrid revolution is here and if you don't buy one now, later, you will have to buy one when they are the only choice. Hope this information helps you in your decision.
  8. Hi, I think it makes sense to buy a hybrid, even if your existing car may continue to be used by someone else. 1) It brings up the sales for hybrids. The greater the sales for hybrids the more manufacturers will be encouraged to make more models available. More sales also allow more efficient manufacturing and lower prices, which will encourage more people to buy them. 2) Your car may go to someone else, but that someone else may retire an older car for good. So, your purchase of a hybrid will likely result in the retirement of one inefficient vehicle and the addition of one efficient vehicle (your hybrid) to the total fleet. I love my Prius :) http://www.builditsolar.com/Projects/Vehicles/ourprius.htm Gary
  9. That's not good logic (in your description) because the person you're selling it to is going to buy a car either way or maybe already has a car. YES, buy a hybrid.
  10. Think of all the resources that went in to the building of your car. Fully utilizing those resources as a car is the best thing to do, then once it can no longer operate as a car recycle it. This includes keeping it in good working order to limit emissions and reduce fuel consumption. Avoid the through away mentality.
  11. If you can afford it go for it. If you start others will follow. My mom is a car salesperson and she doesn't even get people asking about them.
