How do I check online for free why there is a lien on my car title?

I sold my car recently. Noticed there was a lien on the title. I paid for the car in full (cash) when I bought it, and have a receipt. Is the person I sold it to going to have a problem registering the car? Is there a way to find out online free why the title says there is a lien?

1. I would call, or better yet, go to your local courthouse, vehicle registration department, receipt and bill of sale in hand, and talk to them. I always get better results in person.
